Stopped here on cross country road trip to experience true Kansas City BBQ.
Ordered The Taste of Kansas City platter to share. We subbed the 1/2 chicken with a chicken breast because 2 of us are gluten free and their half chicken is NOT gluten free.
Fries are not GF and our waiter said none of the chicken is GF including the wings. I asked if the wings can come plain and he said no.
The coleslaw is amazing and our favorite. Well chopped, not sour/bitter. More like sweet with celery seed.
Family liked the brisket the best.
Honey glazed Baby Back Ribs and pulled pork were good. Slightly dry.
Had beans and coleslaw sides. The beans were good too.
Two of our family is no gluten free. One had kids chicken fingers and fries - all good. They share onion rings. Are 4 between the two of them. They were high quality, thick cut and enjoyed
An overall good stop.
Partner and I have been coming here for ages, and we don’t even live in KC. It is always a must for us. Great service, great atmosphere, great gluten free options, and excellent food. Often a bit of a wait, but never long. I do miss the calmer vibe of the older days before counter ordering, but I can’t argue with the speed. These folks have it figured out.
As a girl with a german grandmother and someone who loves eating german cuisine, this is the most authentic in the KC area. Always delicious and transports me back to Ansbach each bite. Family favorite, including my mom who has a gluten allergy!
I had always wanted to try this place. I was beyond disappointed. The sushi had brown rice which I don’t like. I saw other people’s food and they had white so it would have been nice to know I had a choice since ALL rice is gluten free. I asked for gluten-free soy sauce and was assured it was but then had a reaction later so it obviously wasn’t. None of the workers were friendly nor welcoming. What truly turned my stomach was watching workers fill water glasses by literally pressing the water pitcher down on each glass where people drink thus spreading germs. I appreciate music and a good vibe but it was obnoxiously loud. Super HARD pass.
We were able to sit outside and if you are worrying about gluten allergy, this restaurant takes great care to keep the prep stations separate to keep from cross contamination.
Good amount of gluten-free options, including actually-good GF toast (still rare!), and a selection of desserts. The service and atmosphere were lovely. The prices were a bit steep for the type of food and drink offered, but ultimately, it was understandable given the location and likely overhead costs.
My favorite food item was the mushroom-beet toast. Haven't had anything like it before, and I was pleasantly surprised!
The food here is absolutely amazing, and the service is wonderful as well! Everything is vegan, and there are a couple of menu items that can be made gluten free, or are already gluten free! It's a great place to go if you want comfort food like burgers or chicken fingers!

It was really close, but our group agree The Melting Pot was #1 of the four restaurants we visited.
I’m not a BBQ expert, but it was GREAT and all their meats and sauces are gluten free!! They also have WiFi, added bonus for the work traveler looking to work and eat!

We live in the neighborhood and have eaten here a handful of times, all to the same conclusion. This place is fine but massively overpriced. In spite of being lovingly reviewed, it’s really nothing to write home about. It is not a spot I would take friends visiting from out of town, but I have gone back repeatedly to try their rotating menu and more of their drink list. Nothing - and I mean nothing- has hit it out of the park, which is a bit upsetting at this price point. The service has been fine every time and some of the dishes are good (although most leave us wanting for something) but none are even remotely worth the price. As a chef myself, I can confirm the upcharge is extreme at this restaurant.
The restaurant claims to have gluten and dairy free options but also asks that you don’t make substitutions and we have found that many of the items labeled “gluten free” on the website are actually not and can only be made gluten free with the omission of significant portions of the presentation. Basically you get half the overpriced dish to make it gluten free- like ice cream and a cookie without the cookie. Frustrating snd misleading and this situation applies to about half their “gluten free” menu.
Had informed my waitress I was celiac and need everything gluten free. Ordered the BLT taco asking to make it gluten free, waitress didn’t inform me that it can’t be made gluten free. The taco came out and I was unaware it still had beer battered bacon on it. I took a bite and realized it wasn’t safe.
I’m now dealing with the consequences of eating gluten as someone with Celiac. In addition, my family member had ordered something and requested no sauce. That request also wasn’t met, it came out with sauce.
My unit at work (about 30-40) met here for lunch before a company meeting. There is ample seating inside and outside. There are two floors with seating and food choices on each floor. There is a large variety in the types of foods. Some options are Mediterranean, Mexican, pizza, and burgers.
There are also bars on both floors with many options. My coworkers seemed to be able to order their favorite drinks. I was very pleased that they could make me a mocktail with a blackberry syrup and tonic water. It was delicious!
I looked at all the menus and there were several gluten free and dairy free options.
Great atmosphere! Lots of natural light & cute plants.
- Serves Messenger coffee.
- Espresso machine: La Marzocco Linea Classic.
- Food options: Bakery items (including gluten friendly options) and a full menu which looks ideal for brunch.
- Pet friendly; there’s a dog park out front.
- Seating: Efficient seating indoors; although the building is small the seating didn’t feel crowded. There’s lots of outdoor seating too.
Great location. I wish we found it sooner. Love the atmosphere, had a fun shaded outdoor deck area, and an awesome beer and cocktail selection that are yummy. They even had a gluten free section. We will be back when in town.
Had an amazing experience here last night. I have a gluten and dairy allergy and the manager and Cody the server went over the menu with me on what was safe to eat. Cody, she even took the time to write me out a list of things that had wheat in!
Had the tortilla chips and dip first, with a blue corn tortilla with guacamole and ground beef for main dish. Washed it all down with two of their amazing margaritas - all for an amazing price!
Shout out to the bar tender too! It was so busy, but man was he hustling!
Matthew is a wonderful server. My daughter has celiacs and I’m gluten-free. He helped us choose some great options including risotto primavera and the beet salad - absolutely delicious!
