Great local brewing company. Offers gluten-free beers. I see a lot of people on first dates here, there’s a runners group that meets here in the evening during the week, they have game night, date night. You can bring your babies, kids, dogs here. Wheelchair, stroller accessible. There are some snacks, soda for purchase but you can order food and eat it there. There is outside seating on top of beer barrels and metal stools when it’s nice out. Next to Prato bakery. Smaller than the Biergarten but also good for sunny and cold rainy days. Workers are cool and there are a lot of different beers and flights you can get.
I ordered from Busy Bee on UberEats and was very pleased with my order! The breakfast burrito was so tasty and filling; that plus a slice of banana bread made two meals for me! I really appreciated that the sauce is dairy free! The gluten free tortilla was tasty and did not fall apart. The granola and banana bread were both very tasty as well! I'm gluten free, dairy free, and pescatarian, and I'm so happy to have found this restaurant that has tasty and nourishing options!
The entrees are very gluten-free friendly. All sandwiches and wraps can be made with gluten-free breads. Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable - he told me their fryers aren’t dedicated to just French fries and gave me a salad on the side instead.
This place has a lot of great gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options, with no modifications needed since the dishes are already made that way.
My favorites are the Al Pastor and Brussel Sprout tacos, really flavorful! Their tortilla chips are also pretty good.
There has always been tables available when we’ve gone, and the service has always been fast.
A tale of two pancakes
This was a takeout order
The buckwheat pancakes were the best I've ever had, however the gluten-free pancakes were the worst I've ever had.
Many places mess up buckwheat pancakes. However, this place knew exactly how to make them and they came out really good. Moist and full of flavor.
The gluten-free pancakes were another story. They were dry. Had no flavor and were very hard and too dense, matching the gluten-free waffle we ordered.
Unfortunately, the texture and moisture content of the gluten-free items made us throw them out after a few bites. They should try adding oatmeal or oat flour to their mix to alter the whole profile of those items.
The omelet I got was cooked perfectly and the home fries were really good. Just wish I had asked for ketchup and hot sauce. Unfortunately they were not given to me which is my fault. I should have asked for them, but most places do automatically give you ketchup at least with an omelette, Plus we had ordered a side of fries also that we should have asked for ketchup for.
I appreciate that this place has real maple syrup that they offer for a surcharge, which I'm fine with because it comes in a nice little glass jar that I could reuse.
They can make you any gf breakfast sandwich on their menu. Delicious coffee options as well!
I didn’t see any other gf specific options or baked goods other than their sandwich bread. But the bread was a nice big portion! No small pieces of bread like what you get in store.
Good tunes, good people, good food. Sometimes I carry out, sometimes I stay in. Everything on the menu is tasty, and lots of gluten free options for my GF friends
Loved the gluten free pancakes served with fruit! Nice serving portion.
Not a ton of seating available, but there was no wait for us on a Saturday mid-morning, and we got seated right away.
Good service and lots of unique dishes!
Hudson and Co. has always been good to and my dietary restrictions. They have a nice selection of gluten free options and staff is always friendly. Every time we go, their Manager Dala goes above and beyond to make sure we are taken care of! He’s our favorite part of the experience! He’s friendly, funny, caring and attentive! We love Dala and will always come back as long as he’s there!
DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY
I went here with friends for dinner on a Saturday night and I’m still regretting that choice 5 days later. I usually don’t write reviews, but given how sick I’ve been after eating here, I’m going to be incredibly detailed.
Our server (who was also the hostess) was really pleasant once we were seated. I asked her if they have gluten free pasta and she said yes and also alerted me that the meatball appetizer is made with breadcrumbs in it. I really appreciated her looking out for me. When she told me about the meatballs I said “eh one meatball won’t kill me” - maybe that was my grave mistake.
While we were waiting for our food, I noticed that the menu had a large disclaimer on it, that “all pasta dishes are served al dente”. I thought that was weird considering most places serve their pasta al dente….
When my meal finally came out the pasta was legitimately crunchy. It wasn’t cooked through at all. I felt bad, but I asked the waitress/hostess if they could remake it… then the manager comes over and tries to explain to me what “Al dente” means. I didn’t want to argue, but expressed again that it was undercooked and some of the noodles were straight up HARD. She rolled her eyes as she took my plate away.
Fast forward: my new dish comes out and the manger comes back to again explain to me how pasta is boiled for some reason and emphasized that they shouldn’t overcook pasta?
Whatever- I say thank you for the new dish - I eat my meal and it’s significantly better than the first time. 30 minutes later I start feeling really sick… while I can’t confirm it, I’m almost certain they served me regular pasta the second time around.
I’m not celiac, but I have a pretty severe gluten allergy. I ate ONE meatball as my “cheat” meal of the day. Some breadcrumbs usually leads to a LITTLE discomfort for a few hrs.
After eating that pasta, Ive been sick for 5 days with all the telltale signs of eating a large quantity of gluten. Sever stomach cramps, joint pain all over my body, bloating, swollen hands and feet. I was bedridden for the entire day after eating here.
Again, I can’t prove anything but my suspicion is that they gave me regular pasta bc of my comment about eating the meatball or bc I complained about my original dish? Either way… the manager is rude af and they have a weird obsession with “Al dente” pasta.
Sidenote: my friends didn’t enjoy their meals either. Their red sauce is pretty bland according to her.
Best vegan Mac & cheese ever!! And I’ve tried a lot of them. Soo flavorful and satisfying. The Zak is a must try! I love the perfectly smoky mushrooms on top with the delicious sauce. The salad + pico on the side is a lovely fresh addition to the comforting dish. I also had the churro waffle — soo delicious!
Seriously my favorite restaurant on the east coast. The intention, donation based, vegan, organic, gluten free, friggen delicious — not to mention the beautiful garden, free produce fridge out front. I’d love to see more models like this, feels like a real gem in the community
Gussy’s is simply the best! I have eaten in house and gotten delivery via DoorDash many times. I have Celiac Disease and always order their gluten free options. I’ve never had an issue. Their Goin’ Back to Cali sandwich is truly fantastic and HUGE.
This time, I opted to get catering for my staff for special breakfast. We included a vegan option and a gluten free bagel option to accommodate staff allergies and preferences.
Gussy’s was easy to work with. Delivery was on time. The food was a great temperature and was delicious. The coffee was excellent too. Staff told me how much they enjoyed everything. Well worth the money for any meal. Plus lots of safe gluten free options!
Great atmosphere and service! Very friendly staff with upscale food/drink choices. Have several gluten free options in both appetizers and meals. When I went all the sides were gluten free!
A really cute place with delicious fish, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The Islandic salmon is amazing! Staff was attentive and super nice. Music list created a great vibe. I am looking forward to when the garden reopens! BYOB with great mixers.
Skinners loft was fun. My dining mate has severe food allergies, and they verified that the fryer wasn't cross contaminating with gluten. Super awesome. Most restaurants can't do that.
My dinner had hiccups. I got the watermelon salad, and the lettuce was bad. They fixed it and comped the salad part. Service was impeccable throughout this. The salmon was perfectly cooked, also.
I'll definitely go back. They had some organic options, the fish was wild. Yea, good stuff!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Amazing experience from start to finish. We had a party offsite for 75 people. The whole night went off without a hitch. Diana was easy to work with and her experienced advice was spot on. From planning stage to night of party- exceptionally organized and delivered as discussed. Staff was professional and accommodating with any request. In passing I mentioned a gluten allergy for one of our guests- unsolicited Diana put together a plate and personally delivered it. Aside from all of that- the food was incredible!!! I highly recommend Diana and Casa Cubana.
This restaurant is absolutely phenomenal. The items on the menu are highly customizable and the establishment is vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free friendly. The spice levels can be made anywhere from mild to extra spicy which makes the item so personalizable to taste. The place is also BYOB (bring your own booze.) Going back to the food, the ramen served was the absolute best ramen I have had in the US. The dessert items are very well made especially for what they are. The overall experience was extremely remarkable and I will 100% return here when I can.
The Grind Shop in Jersey City is a top-notch coffee shop that offers a great selection of coffee and tea beverages, as well as delicious baked goods and light bites. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable with plenty of seating options, making it an excellent spot to catch up with friends, work remotely, or simply relax.
The coffee is excellent, with a variety of brewing methods to choose from, including pour-over and cold brew. They also offer a good selection of non-dairy milk options.
Beyond coffee, The Grind Shop also offers a range of scrumptious baked goods, including muffins, scones, and croissants. The vegan and gluten-free options are also delicious.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always willing to help you with your order, and make recommendations based on your preferences.
Overall, The Grind Shop is a must-visit for all coffee enthusiasts. With high-quality coffee, scrumptious baked goods, and a cozy atmosphere, it's the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and recharge.
Blown away by this little spot! The place itself is decorated beautifully and the staff was super friendly. We ordered the pao de quiejo, Amazon salad, salmon, vegan stew, and chicken stroganoff. Everyone loved their meal. The flavors were outstanding and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. There’s no other place like it downtown. As someone who is gluten free, I was thrilled to see that I could have more than half of the menu. My partner who is vegan also had plenty of options. Highly recommend coming here for a great meal.
A wonderful atmosphere with delicious food! The mimosas are excellent, and they offer a diverse range of cocktails. There are also good gluten-free options available. Don't forget to make a reservation in advance.
We’re gluten free and this still fits the bill!! Super good GF options for pizza and sandwiches. My husband almost cried, he was so excited to eat your GF Philly Cheesesteak. Only had delivery (three times now) and it was very prompt.
A Cozy Hidden Gem in Jersey City!
I recently visited Belle Âme Café, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience! Walking in from the rain, I was immediately greeted by a warm and cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The café is spotless, with plenty of natural light pouring in through the large windows, creating the perfect environment to relax.
What truly stood out to me was their Gluten-Free Brazilian cheese bread. I asked them to use it to make an egg and avocado sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious! The coffee was fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot.
To top it off, the staff behind the counter were an absolute delight. Their friendly, welcoming energy added to the overall charm of the place.
A small cute asian fusion brunch restaurant.
The portions are decent. You get a lot of food and vegetables. I guarantee you get full after finishing your meal.
Every bites were filled with flavor. I recommend trying their vermicelli bowl. They have more western options such as breads and eggs too.
There are options for vegetarians and gluten free.
The coffee could be stronger.
Staffs are nice and welcoming.
It was a business meeting, and they recognized it and gave us space and also knew when you come and ask for our needs. Very quiet, options were limited on menu but had all kinds of options for veg, gluten free, etc
I had food delivered. It was amazing! I called to ask about gluten free options. The guy was so patient and nice with all of my questions. I am amazed he spent that much time with me. And the food matched the quality of customer service. This will be one of my go to restaurants. Thank you!
Great staff, friendly and involved owner, and it’s very nice to have a lovely place to get food in this area of the city where there aren’t as many options.
I love to see the extended menu since they first opened.. but please 🥲 some more gluten free options would be much appreciated!!
Highly recommend the corned beef hash… I got the full rundown on how this was made- so much effort goes into this dish and you can tell: it’s beyond delicious! I always clean my plate with this one.
I stopped by this little coffee shop one evening after work. It’s a small, charming roadside spot with a cozy vibe—just a handful of tables and chairs, but enough for a casual hangout or for folks working remotely. Beyond coffee, they also serve ice cream, baked treats, fresh sandwiches, and soups—perfect for a light refreshment.
I ordered a regular drip coffee ( with cream) and a slice of what seemed like a coffee cake. The cake might’ve been gluten-free (which I didn’t realize at the time), and it turned out quite dense—not soft or spongy as I’d hoped. It also lacked sweetness, apart from a thin sugary crust on top. Not terrible, but nothing to rave about. The coffee itself was very basic—drinkable, but not particularly rich or flavorful.
Service was a bit slow, but to be fair, only two staff members were handling both orders and prep, and the place was quite busy. Despite the wait, they remained polite and well-mannered, which I appreciated.
Gluten UNFRIENDLY - Nestled in the Jersey City Arts District, this sushi spot is one of the few in Jersey city which claims fresh sushi. However after dining there today inquiring about Gluten free options we were told that 1) Almost all their food is pre made in the morning - very limited items are prepared fresh 2) the Chef does not support customizations even for food allergies. The wait staff was not knowledgeable of the menu and had to check with the kitchen on multiple times just to advise what was gluten free. Even items like oysters which are naturally gluten free cannot be prepared gluten free as all oysters are shucked in the morning and pre made before the restaurant opens including all topping. When asked if it was safe for oysters to sit out all day the wait staff shared they are pre-made and sit on ice. The sushi is delicious if you are not Celiac but I cannot advise the oysters either way based on the staff’s preparation comments.
We came here after the liberty science center for my sister’s birthday dinner. Parking was hard to find but we managed to loop a few times and find a spot within 10 minutes of being there. We were a large group, bread is not free, as it’s focaccia bread at $5 a basket, my husband said it was good but not great. Everyone enjoyed their food and it came out lovely. Just when mine the gluten free pizza came out, 10 minutes after everyone else’s and then was completely burned and when my husband asked them to remake it the waiter made it seem like I was being an inconvenience to them for wanting a not burned pizza - which by the way - costs more than the regular pizza and is extremely thin. The waiter said it would take so long and they could just remove it from the bill and I got upset for being an inconvenience to them (or taking it that way) but my husband said no you need to remake this. Ultimately it was a good pizza once it was cooked properly but for me I just didn’t have that grand of an experience, whereas my family did. So that’s why I removed only one star. So if you have a gluten allergy just beware your food may come out 10 mins later than everyone else’s and also not be cooked properly and possibly will make you feel like crumbs for their mistake.
Really nice spot. Semi limited gluten free options and nothing is clearly marked GF on the menu (however vegan is marked). Food was good but not amazing, prices are a tad high for the food I feel. Great atmosphere though, nice place. The waitress was very sweet (Erika) she was great
Cannot express my love for Hybrid enough! Evan and his team are awesome. They make sure they know you and your order. I go here almost daily for my iced matcha latte. Great matcha. All the baristas are genuinely friendly - Mikey, Michelle, Gabe and Mel. Evan has been working on gluten-free donuts which I had the pleasure of trying and they did not disappoint. Also, if you see the pao de quejo definitely order. Clearly, I'm obsessed
The Corner Pho is on the corner everyone knows and loves for great Vietnamese food.
You come here for a quick bite or Dinner with the family. Recently, I came here to host a party for my dad's birthday which was held in the bar area. They have a lot of options to choose from which also includes gluten-free and vegetarian options. It's plated nicely. Throughout the process, Quang was very clear in communication and everything was very simple to plan!
We had Spring Rolls, Tofu Summer Rolls, Shrimp Summer Rolls, Shrimp Papaya Salad, Vegetable Fried Rice, Vegetable Pan-fried soft noodles, Beef Rolls, Fried Squid, Grilled Pork, Grilled Short Ribs. Delicious!
Charming Neighborhood Cafe with a Personal Touch
Nestled in the heart of the neighborhood, this cafe exudes warmth and charm. Its cozy size often leads to a wait, but patience pays off here. We ordered the special omelet of the day, featuring asparagus and Swiss cheese. My gluten-free friend was thoughtfully accommodated with a generous fruit bowl in place of bread. While their lattes were a delightful pick-me-up, their known for pistachio croissant - this is a must-try.
The icing on the cake? The friendly owner, who, even amidst his culinary duties, takes the time to mingle with guests, ensuring everyone's experience is nothing short of awesome.
