We stopped by Lulu’s for lunch because they have a pretty robust selection of gluten free items, which seems hard to come by in Waikiki.
We had a lot of trouble with our order - 2 of our drinks had to be remade, the eggs on my Lulu Moco were fried instead of the requested over easy, and we ended up with a fly in another drink.. BUT I’ll say Sage, the waiter, and the manager both handled it really well. Both were very on top of getting things remade and coming to check on us to make sure everything was fixed to liking.
The food was also good, but the fish tacos were definitely the best thing any of us ordered.

This is such a wonderful soft serve/dessert shop! I love that they are completely vegan and they have such unique rotating flavors! The show stopper though, is definitely the strawberry milkshake and their hot kulolo sundae! The strawberry milkshake is made with GLUTEN FREE Malt so that means that people who are gluten and dairy intolerant can actually drink it! It tastes so delicious and wonderful in every way.
Their hot kulolo sundae is also so good. The hot kulolo mixed with the toasted macnuts make the sundae taste good regardless of the base. It's like a true taste of Hawaii in your mouth. 11/10 would recommend. Definitely a local favorite.
My only qualm is that I wish they were open later! I feel like they close just an hour too early because a lot of people aren't even done with dinner by the time they close! But I will forever be a patron to them and I try to go in as often as I can.

Food is good & well presented (and convenient), but the majority of the sandwiches on the board are pre-made, so if you request gluten-free bread (a reasonable +$1), they will throw away the bread from the pre-made sandwich and use the fillings. So much unnecessary food waste is disappointing, and would make me hesitant to return.
That being, my egg-provolone-spinach sandwich on sprouted grain (wheat) bread was tasty and toasty, a sandwich, what. There are also açai bowls, if that’s your thing.

Honestly, I’m sad bc I got the home made gluten filled bread, but I ordered GF bread. I tried to call and couldn’t get through and woke up in the middle of the night with stomach pain. I want to clarify that I had ONE bite of the bread before I realized it’s not the GF bread. And just to update the note, they didn’t charge me for the bread, as the cashier forgot somehow - even though I did ask her if they have it when I arrived and then again asked them to use Gf bread. I was far away by the time I opened the sandwich and took a bite once at location realizing it was the same bread as my friend. Very disappointed.
Update: They returned my sandwich money. But not without a lot of doubt. I understand it’s a small shop, the sandwich looked awesome. But please understand that this is important for health reasons. I think if you’re into gluten you should def give it a go.

Food: Good portions for a good price. The menu’s 100% vegan, and all their meat substitutions are gluten free. Customer Service/Experience: One of the first things we noticed was the stunning lobby decor and the wave of fragrant plumerias that invaded our nostrils when we walked up to the doors. WOW! We went to the hostess stand and I mentioned we booked with Open Table....turns out the reservation was for the following day (UGH!) BUT she happily updated it and made accomodations for us - so sweet!!! We were very pleased with the level of customer service and it continued throughout our meal.
Vibe: I took some photos of the food we ate, but the light was too dim for the pics to do the food any justice, so I'm not going to post them. Even without the photos - trust me: THIS IS IT. The atmosphere was casual and laid back, but romantic. The views of the beach at sunset were stunning and I doubt you'll find a better spot to dine steps from the sand in such a peaceful setting. The plumerias were scattered along the grass near the sand and the whole thing looked straight out of a movie set.
Food: The Fried Ahi Poke Musubi was out of this world - huge and probably too much for just 2 people but we ate it anyway! It was the perfect marriage of crispy rice, seasoned tuna and umami seaweed... you HAVE to try it if it's on the menu!
Hubby got the The Kahala Burger and said it was Top 3 of the best burgers he's ever had (and he's had a lot!). I tried the Crispy Wok Fried Prawns with Chicken-Fat rice. Both were great, but the prawns were best! I was also SUPER IMPRESSED and thankful that Plumeria Beach House took the time to designate the items on their menu that were dairy-free, egg-free, and gluten-free. That is such a thoughtful detail and as a guest who is dairy-free, I appreciated knowing up front what my food options were. Bravo and kudos to whomever decided to do the menu that way.

The food truck is actually parked on Kealohilani Ave where they have some standing tables and new large mural and the Double Fat Ice Cream shack with a little of it's own sitting.
The food is good and a little cheaper than other options in this expensive area. The portions aren't so large you will feel bloated from all the gluten. If you're hungry you can get some cheesy bread or get another course in the neighborhood.
The staff was friendly and helpful in helping me find the truck.

Gluten free avocado toast in Waikiki - what’s not to love there? Food was excellent and very beautifully presented. Staff seemed overwhelmed and tense - a couple of extra workers trickled in later but it still took almost 30 minutes for them to produce two orders of avocado toast. It was worth the wait but they need to work on their flow!
