As a coeliac and lactose intolerant person I was happy to find a place that was able to safely cater for breakfast and lunch! I didnât love my breakfast, but I LOVED the chicken Vietnamese salad I had for lunch. Like it was the best lunch I had in my New Zealand travels.

What a debacle! Just a couple of snacky ski bums craving a tasty gluten free tender meal after a cracking on the maunga. We love chicken, so this seemed like the perfect choice. It was not. When you think of a chicken tender you think of golden, juicy, tasty, crispy... But how wrong we were to rely on the website photos. What we received was an unseasoned, insipid, whiter than the snow tender with really no redeeming features. For an outfit that specialises in chicken, this was exceptionally bad. Only plus side to this whole shamozzle was the chips. Thank goodness Briscoes and Woolworths are close by to grab the other couple of necessities on this trip. We're not angry, we're just disappointed.
Protip: Woolworths is just down the road. Grab yourself a packet of Waitoa gluten free burger fillets and some Makakihi Fries and you'll be waaaaay happier than us.
Edit: old mate Owner is (again) saying it was a kids meal... Absolutely wasn't! ...not sure how long they can keep hiding behind that. Poor form to be honest. Get down to countdown - 3x the food, 10x the taste for less pesos

4 of us were directed here by a nearby winery for a midweek lunch. We all have healthy appetites and include a gluten free and pescatarian. Our excellent experience commenced just inside the front door with a very warm welcome from the owner. Our waitress for the day could not have been more engaging, informative or professional. She helped us make good choices a la carte to share, with all dishes perfectly ordered and timed! The food was absolutely incredible. Not a weak dish amongst the 8 we ordered. Many surprises with standouts involving mushrooms and even cauliflower! As can be seen with my review history I donât post often but was keen in this instance because this restaurant topped our list of extremely good dining experiences over a 5 day trip through WÄnaka/Queenstown and surrounds. Food is delicious and portion size is generous. The Brunch menu has varied options of sweet and savoury meals for a hearty Brunch. Nasi Lemak and Beef Rendang as a brunch option is a must try. But bear in mind the Nasi Lemak has spicy sambal on the side. There are also generously sized sandwiches and pies available at the counter ready to be heated should One not want something from the Brunch menu. The the Beef Rendang Pie and the Chicken Panini is already a good serving size for one.
There are Vegetarian, Dairy-Free and Gluten free options in the Brunch Menu and at the counter (for baking deliciousness:pies, sandwiches/paninis etctc).
Beef and Chicken are also Halal
The cafe has on street parking thatâs on a first come first serve basis. Spacious enough to have a group of 6 people for Brunch. Could extend to up to 8 or more but might have to combine tables.
There is wheel chair accessibility from the side entrance/back entrance.
Itâs well worth a try for a cafe thatâs a near good ocean views. Iâve been back for Brunch for several times and will continue on for the near future.
