They have dedicated fryers and are well versed in Celiac protocol. I had the fried shrimps and it was amazing. Highly recommend it!!! Staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I just loved it!!!!
We came to the keys for a week and found this place for gluten free diet and the pizza is great. I’m not even gluten free but my girlfriend is and I even love their gf pizza crust
Gorgeous outdoor dining right on the Beach. Many gluten free options. Very popular place.
Unique covered tables out on the beach that are actually gliders - difficult to describe but awesome. We ate under the massive Tiki roof.
The Square Grouper leans into its quirky Keys history with a fun, drug trade-era theme that gives the whole place a bit of an edge — in a good way. The upstairs bar is lively and well-run, and we appreciated the good conversation and service from the bartender.
The menu upstairs is small, and gluten-free options are limited. It was a bit frustrating that they couldn’t bring food up from the main restaurant below. That said, we did head downstairs for dinner and had a solid meal. The wine list was especially impressive, and everything felt curated for a more upscale experience.
It’s definitely on the pricier side, but if you’re looking to splurge on a night out with some character and a great drink in hand, the Square Grouper delivers.

I found this when searching for stops along the Keys and let me tell you, they have so much to offer it was overwhelming. We went to feed the tarpons but from the looks of it, they have lots.of water sports available as well as a restaurant.
First, feeding the fish. $2.50/person to enter dock. $5/bucket of fish to feed tarpon. So cool. Was a bit crowded but cleared out quickly. Pelicans stealing fish out of kids hands or buckets gave us a chuckle. Don't know that I would have to do it again but if the kids wanted to, I wouldn't say no.
Second, the restaurant. We did decide to eat here since we were already there. Gluten free mahi Reuben and fish tacos. Both were excellent but that Reuben was 🤌🤌. Not much in the way of a gluten free menu BUT our waiter was knowledgeable. That sandwich was 10/10, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, excellent. Still thinking about it a week later. Open air restaurant and beware of mosquitoes, take your spray.
Parking was very full when we arrived and we did end up moving our car closer by the end of the night.
Everyone we encountered from the fish feeding check in, wait staff or gift shop were so friendly.
Great meal and experience! My wife and I consider ourselves foodies. My wife is gluten free so finding a high end restaurant that has more than a few options for her is somewhat challenging. Around 85% of the menu was gluten free. Everything tastes wonderful from the beautifully prepared fish of the day to the sides. They were offering fried lion fish which was a bit of a novelty but it was wonderfully done.
Highly recommend this restaurant if you happen to be looking for a nice night out!
I visited both the Islamorada and Key West locations, and as a soy and gluten-free diner, I enjoyed their pork tacos and naked Kobe beef burrito, respectively, without any issues. Thank you!
Are safely as gluten and coeliac, the waitress was so helpful and gave me lots of advice and knew exactly what coeliac was etc, the food was ok the bun my fish burger came in was very dry and I opted for coleslaw for a side which was barely any as I could have chips, so food was ok, but the main thing was it was safe and the waitress was brilliant in making me feel relaxed and confident to eat there
Shasta was an unbelievable server! She went above and beyond to make sure our friend with Celiac was taken care. Her kindness and upbeat demeanor was infectious!! I highly recommend this place! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Awesome happy hour unitil 7pm
Amazing food from start to finish. The chef was very accommodating to our Gluten and Dairy allergies. Everything made was spectacular. 5 stars. Our waitress Sandra is a rock star as well. 5 stars for her too. Bravo!!
We absolutely loved this place. Very memorable experience. The manager was our server because the restaurant was busy due to an event. She took fantastic care of us and we had the best meal we've had yet. Everything from the drinks to the desert was superb. Thank you for such a wonderful experience we won't forget! Also restaurant is celiac friendly and has great gluten free offerings.
Best food we had in all of our trip to the Keys! We went to a lot of good places, but this was our favorite! Fantastic fantastic food. Great service! Our waiter was wonderful, and knew how to help me with my gluten free needs. Atmosphere was so fun, and playful! They made my husband feel so special as we were celebrating his birthday. We had 4 young kids with us, and they had a lot of fun playing around in the side area. Just go! Don’t look for anywhere else!
Nice place.. Pricey. Good service. Knew about gluten free diet as I have Celiac's that is important. Food was pretty average though. Thought the tomato and gorgonzola salad was the best thing I had. Was husband's Birthday so they gave him a free desert and it was gluten free so I could eat it too! Nice folks. I am fine with spicy food but their shrimp cocktail was actually clearing my sinuses. OY way to much horseradish in that. I also had a special.. Fish oscar??? Gf version... Had hollandaise sauce on it... Was not good.
The place looks not at all on the outside like it does on the inside btw. It is a popular place so might need reservations depending on when you go.
Had an amazing time here! I had been all up and down the Keys for a week and this was my last meal on the way to the airport. It was absolutely amazing! The skillets were phenomenal and as a bonus, gluten free. Loved their bottomless mimosas, views of the water and the amazing service. Can’t wait to come back again in the future.
A fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and great selection of drinks! Many options for gluten free beverages as well. Love the gift shop too, good prices and cute merchandise. Definitely a must visit when in the Keys!
