I had an incredible lunch here yesterday! I was pretty nervous since I haven't had pizza from a restaurant since my Celiac Disease diagnosis 4.5 years ago, but our server John was fantastic. He answered all my questions, double checked things when I asked, and put me totally at ease. He reassured me they take allergens very seriously, including a separate prep area AND a separate oven for GF pizzas! I had a 1/2 pesto margherita and 1/2 chicken bacon ranch pizza, both sides were equally delicious.
I went for the special Irish breakfast on a weekday shortly before St. Patrick’s Day. The corned beef dinner knocked my socks off with how smooth it was! Just really commendable that a special could be so perfect. And for just $25! Sat at the chef’s counter and saw the care and cooperation with which dishes were being prepared. Server was friendly, charming, and knowledgeable about gluten restrictions.
Service did seem a tad disorganized. I noticed plates sit on the counter for maybe 3-5 minutes before they went to tables.
Hi had the pleasure of having Hernan serve my friend and I last night! He was very knowledgeable about the menu. My friend had gluten allergies and Hernan was very helpful . Thank you for your great service!
The place has a really cool interior and vibe. Every time I’m here I notice some different decor behind the bar or on the wall. I love that the bar seats have skateboards on the backs of them. The bar staff is always friendly and informative. I come in for my favorite cocktail, the track suit. Bourbon, aperol, yellow chartreuse, and lemon. The menu has a lot of gluten free options, and I even had the luxury of having GF onion rings this last visit. This place is one of my favorites.
My fiance and I came to have dinner on Friday night and as soon as we walked in the door I could tell that we were going to have a hard time that night. The host at the door was not friendly and gave attitude to all people around her and was even talking bad right in front of the people that were waiting. When we sat down we waited at least 8 minutes until someone greeted us. The server was in such a rush that she did not give the time of day to tell us about the food with a smug face. I asked her about some gluten-free options And she just brushed me off and said they didn't have any tonight. I ended up getting a piece of salmon that was still uncooked in the middle and when I sent it back I did get another attitude from the server which was totally unnecessary. We don't get out a lot on our date nights and we would like to enjoy a nice dinner every once in awhile I'm a very disappointed in my experience I hope that you can train your employees a little bit more because clearly most of them don't care. I probably would not return again which is very unfortunate because it's one of our favorite restaurants.
Folks who deliver through a service need to stop blaming Francesco’s for the temperature of the pizza. They are not responsible for the timing of deliveries—the app you choose makes that determination. Now, that being said, this is a real family owned Italian American corner pizza place just like you’d find in NYC or Brooklyn. Mom, son, wife, they all take part. The pizza sauce is homemade, tangy and bright like a New York slice with a thin crisp crust that has a nice crusty bread taste. YES—they have vegan cheese! YES—they have gluten free pizza. I suggest stopping in for a slice—no tables inside but there are benches on the sidewalk. Otherwise order a pizza to go and pick it up yourself, and say hi to the folks who work there. Small businesses like this are one of the last places we can really build a sense of community and support—a place like this has honest prices and good food (I have to try the homemade meatballs!) and is worthy of the community gathering around to support them! I came in for Sunday brunch as my first stop while visiting Providence for the day. I was excited for both chilaquiles and masa pancakes as someone with a gluten allergy, but they were sadly out of the masa pancakes by the time we arrived around 11:30. The salsa verde on my chilaquiles was pleasantly spicy and tasted fresh. My partner ordered huevos con chorizo. He remarked that the housemade chorizo was excellent. Service was prompt, food came out quickly, and we were able to fuel ourselves for a very reasonable price.
Really great experience here! Jackie was a fantastic waitress - very kind and welcoming - and we loved the bacon/omelets/toast/homefries. More flavorful than typical diner fare. Also they had gluten free bread! 10/10
The food is delicious and flavorful, the staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. There are many delicious Gluten Free options. Would absolutely come back!
My niece and I came to try the matcha latte and she got herself a chocolate croissant. I have a gluten allergy, so there weren't any options I felt comfortable eating. But I really appreciated that the barista cleaned all the equipment before making my latte. My niece really enjoyed her chocolate croissant, it looked magnificent. The vibes were also immaculate, it really felt like a European cafe. We'll be back!
This restaurant was a wonderful find for us! They are very allergy friendly, taking precautions to ensure no contamination.any of the dishes were able to be made gluten free, and everything we had was amazing. Shout out to our waiter, Joe, who was excellent from start to finish!
I’ve been a member of the wine club for almost a year. Great monthly wine choices, great atmosphere! When I have been there for lunch, great gluten-free (I’m non-celiac) options!
Great little spot, I got both of the oyster shooters; I enjoyed the Bloody Mary one more than the Mexican.
They're raw oysters were so fresh and flavorful. They were very clean, not gritty or briny.
Updating my review with some photos. We went hard on the APPY HOUR deals. I forgot to snap pictures of the oysters...again! I was just enjoying them too much. I got the diver scallops done Oscar's style, which they altered to fit my gluten free diet. My husband got the Shrimp Cocktail and Lobster Bisque, the Bisque needed more sherry and they could be a little more generous with the Lobster. All he got was that tiny little bit in the photo. Shrimp Cocktail is not worth it.
We had an amazing time at Bodega on Smith! The food was delicious with lots of gluten and vegan-free options. At night, you can sip on great cocktails—shhh, it's a secret! The staff was fantastic, creating the perfect vibe. You can really tell the owners care about the quality and presentation of everything they serve. We can’t wait to return!
Bellini, great atmosphere, great food, if you don’t have allergies. My friends and I went there for a birthday dinner, and my friend has celiac (she cannot have gluten). We were very clear with our waitress she had this severe food allergy, and when asked about the gluten free option our waitress said the was gluten free spaghetti. But when asked about the tortellini (spinach and feta), our waitress said they could make them gluten free.
When we got home, my friend started throwing up and getting very sick. At first we thought it was cross-contamination, so I called the restaurant. When I asked the man at the phone, he had said that was not the case and they cannot make the tortalini gluten free. He had asked for who served us, but we did not remember her name, just the area we were in. He had said she has been there for a long time now and there was “miscommunication”. I am not sure how stating someone (and who) has celiac that could’ve been lost in translation.
Hopefully this does not happen to anyone else.
Our server Dan saved the experience. We went for our five year anniversary on a Saturday night. It was steady but we were able to get a reservation and table. The menu is not really condusive if you have multiple food allergies but I knew that I would have limited options going in this was more for my other half. Gluten free options are good if you eat meat if you don't you have pretty much just potatoes. Service was amazing however there were some kitchen problems not to the fault of our server. One of our appetizers was forgotten then brought out probably 40+ minutes after ordering when the server went to inform the kitchen. my boyfriend's steak came out very rare when he had ordered midrare it was more black and blue which he sometimes likes but it wasn't what he was in the mood for. They packed the steak to go however while we were waiting for our dessert ( which they gave complimentary not sure if that was from the anniversary or to make up for the other mistakes) we noticed the to go bag never came out. When Dan returned to let us know dessert would be out soon if we didn't mind waiting we mentioned the bag and he went to look for it. Another young man (who I believe was a busser) came out a minute or two later with a bag asking if we were the missing steak. My boyfriend said yes and took the steak thankfully he checked the bag as it was not his leftovers. We are pretty relaxed restaurant goers so it didn't bother us much we were more worried for whoever would have to catch the fallout from whereever his steak went. (To clarify we were positive it was not our steak as we were given a small fillet and my boyfriend had more than half a new york strip with spicy butter on it which made it orange. The steak we received also had parsley on it when the original one did not). When Dan returned he quickly apologized cracked a few jokes to lighten the mood got us some coffee and said he'd be back with dessert and a new steak. All in all we had an amazing experience because of Dan. The food was just alright considering how much we payed and how many mistakes were made but because of our service our anniversary dinner wasn't ruined and we would go back and give it another try. In the end request Dan and make sure you check your takeaway bag.
Mills Tavern's private dining room was the perfect venue for our wedding reception dinner of 12 guests. Meredith was an absolute pleasure to coordinate with in the months leading up to the big day. She went above and beyond to accommodate our requests and answer our questions. Meredith provided name tags and custom colored napkins that we picked from a swatch. When our rehearsal dinner venue fell through 1.5 weeks before the wedding, Meredith saved the day by securing the same room for us on short notice.
I have celiac disease, and the kitchen staff is very knowledgeable about celiac and has very safe gluten free practices in the kitchen. Meredith was knowledgeable about explaining their allergy protocols to me. I selected my food choices in advance, and the chef ensured that my food would be celiac safe. They even provided a custom charcuterie board for just me.
We were able to bring our own flowers and wedding cake. The room is wheelchair accessible. Our waitress was so friendly and proactive. The food itself was delicious, and when a few of the steaks were served undercooked, the waitress was ON IT to make things right. (I've never had this happen at Mills Tavern before. It must have been a fluke.)
All in all, would highly recommend for a private event!
My server Caroline was so attentive and not to mention so beautiful!! She attended to our every need and the food was to die for! I went to dinner with my family, my grandparents were in town visiting, they are hard to impress but loved everything from the ambience to the gluten free options. We will definitely be back! Sweet Caroline gave us an excellent night and we are very grateful!
We love this restaurant! Waiters are great, Leo is exceptional and Sean is a warm caring host. Fresh blue fin tuna tonight, it was so fresh. We get specials most of the time but the staples are great too! This restaurant also works for our gluten free friends.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, in a beautiful dining room!!! Service here from the start was stellar and our server was very knowledgeable about the different wines as well as gluten-free options. A very diverse menu, we ordered the mussels with sweet potato chips, summer vegetables with herb caper dip, wood roasted squid and sausage and pasta with confit tuna and guanciale. All the dishes were phenomenal, and felt very original. The blight for me however had to be the burnt basque cheesecake which was just delectably creamy and delicious. Will definitely be coming back.
My boss always brings me a large White Lightning extra sweet almost every weekend at work, their coffee is AMAZING 🥰 And today I finally got to try the food! I ordered a gluten free bagel with extra cream cheese (they put extra cream cheese! Most places I go to never hear me out about my extra cream cheese! They put the perfect amount! ) and then my 8 month pregnant self ordered the ham sandwich on a gluten free bagel. Every ingredient was so FRESH and amazing. The tomatoes were perfect! The micro greens were so fresh! The ham was great, the perfect amount of Mayo and mustard. Gah! It was wonderful. I've never been to the location and today was the first time and wow, the ambience, the vibe it was amazing! I'm so glad I'm only a 5 minute walk away now! Definitely recommend!!!
I have celiac disease and need to be very strict gluten free. The restaurant website has GF dishes marked (although there is a mistake where it says a dish that has farro is gf, but farro is not gf). They also say they take allergens seriously and can make accommodations. However, the server I had was really mean to me and was dismissing my concerns and she did not want to ask the chefs my questions. I pleaded for her to ask the chef if the gf pasta is made in the same water as the regular pasta because I know sometimes it cannot be made separately even though she was telling me not to worry. She came back and it turns out they cannot do the gf pasta in separate water so I would have gotten really sick. She was constantly rolling her eyes at me and making me feel bad about asking questions to keep myself safe. I had never had a server be so rude to me. It seemed like other servers were helpful and friendly so I really hope they at least re-train this employee. We were a party of 5 and had a reservation for Thursday 7/18 at 6pm and we sat at the fire table on the left deck.
Amazing place to grab a bite with your family. Staff is very friendly and the food is superb. Four cheese pizza is the very best, I have issues with gluten, but I couldn't care less, and I stuffed my cheeks with their pizzas. To my surprise, I didn't get sick. Dough is perfect, not too tick, just pure perfection. Prices are really reasonable. Will come back for sure.
Amazing staff, bartender was amazing wait staff was amazing all orders were right on spot even when we requested dairy free/gluten free for our dinner. Iris is amazing!!
This is our “we need lunch/dinner and we need it to be healthy, quick and damn good” go-to. Their bowls are filling, delicious and made with quality ingredients. I have a gluten allergy and they are wonderfully accommodating for that as well. Staff are always exceptional and super sweet. You can see the dedication and passion in every inch of this space. Providence is fortunate to have a spot like this, not to mention the owners give back and support their community. What are you waiting for? Just order online! You won’t be disappointed.
I've been to many Thai restaurants, this one is the best I've ever been too. Food has a great taste and the portion is larger than any other Thai place I've visited. Salmon sushi tasted great, prices were fair. Lots of gluten free options, make sure you tell your waitress what you require. Clean and comfortable inside. Overall A+
JA PATTY catered my wedding last Sunday, 5/5/2024 and my husband and I were beyond thrilled with their food, setup, breakdown, clean up and all communications with them. They drove all the way up to Orleans on Cape Cod from Pawtucket, RI.
My husband loves Jamaican food and prior to the wedding, he sampled their food at the indoor farmer's market in Providence, RI and we also met them and had their food at RI Veg Fest. All our guests (there were 23) and - I really mean all of them - loved the food and were delighted with all the different tastes, textures and options. We had vegetarians, vegans, meat eaters and gluten intolerant guests (yes, it's 2024) and there was plenty of food to satisfied everyone's diet. Chef Conroy and Miss Alison were wonderful and if you read this whole review, you may have guessed that I highly recommend them.
The pizza was delicious and my daughter loved the gluten-free pizza. The owner/manager was super friendly and welcoming. The gelato for dessert was amazing. I had the peanut butter brownie and chocolate flavors. Great find!!
***Summary***
-High quality noodles (Jahunger Noodle, Original Meefen), lesser quality meats
-Cute, flexible house-inspired interior with kind service/hospitality
-Uyghur cuisine
-Was in and out in ~35 minutes
***By Dish***
1) Jahunger Noodle (Entree)
-Especially enjoyed the chewy, savory noodles. Had a strong onion flavor that could be a bit overpowering. Beef pieces were flavorful but tough and did not taste very fresh.
2) Original Meefen (Entree)
-This dish was my sneaky favorite of the day. Expecting a mushier texture, the gluten-free rice noodles were soft, fresh, with a subtle chewiness. I loved the chili oil taste and appreciated the added texture of the crispy soybeans. The minced chicken was not the feature of this dish, but still soaked up the flavor well.
3) Lamb Samsa (Appetizer)
-While this looked appetizing, the dish lacked flavor and overall, the theme of lesser quality meats showed itself once again. It helped to dip the samsa into the Original Meefen chili oil!
