The oysters were so delicious and fresh. Gluten free scallops were flavorful. Lobster ravioli was amazing. We had a beautiful table overlooking the water.
I love this place! Exceptional gluten free pizza. I love that the gluten free pizza isn’t too small. It’s a good size to share or greedily eat yourself as well. I love that I can have any pizza on the menu and make it gluten free. The industrial design with a touch of elegance is a great addition to the ambiance. Waiters are professional and provide good service
Enjoyed a nice Valentine’s Day dinner with my Valentine here. Nice atmosphere with a few pretty floral additions and also had a rose for each couple as a parting gift. Very busy with a bit of a line when we were heading out - was happy to have made a reservation on OpenTable.
Our server, Jess, was awesome. Super nice with a sense of humor to deftly counter my witty commentary. Since both Sauvignon Blancs in the glass were from New Zealand I wasn’t sure which to choose and Jess was kind enough to bring a taste of each. As we were catching up over a delicious IIPA and a glass of wine from the rather large list (but limited availability for glasses vs bottles), we noticed the music was quite loud - not sure if valentines related or typical.
We started with the Farm to Table board which was yummy but should have been called Brussels Sprouts with lots (and lots) of fig jam and a hint of prosciutto. Only a couple thin slices under a mound of fried sprouts. Sprouts were voluminous and tasty but little overdone IMHO. Also needed more salt, pistachios, and burrata.
For our mains, we had the Skillet Roasted Salmon and the Nachos. Salmon was very tasty. We ordered medium rare and it was definitely more cooked through. Nice sweetness in the sauce that complimented the unctuousness of the salmon. Could have used a touch more acid and more of the crunch from the pistachios. Toothsome risotto that was very squashy (in a good way)!
Nachos were huge with a nice layer of melted cheese and a delicious cheese sauce in addition to the chicken. Definitely a good amount of spice - not sure if in the sauce or only from the peppers. Only criticism was the Arugula. I loves me some peppery lettuce, but just felt like an odd addition on Nachos. Actually, another complaint - Top layer was awesome but you’re left with a pile of baked naked chips underneath.
Overall - great atmosphere and good food. Tons of Gluten Free options with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Thumbs up!
I have celiac disease and our waiter Josh was very helpful, and patient, when it came to helping me find out what was gf. The food was absolutely amazing 10/10 experience definitely going back!
Gluten-free eaters, beware.
I have Celiac Disease. I can’t have gluten, full stop. When I walked into Red 36, I saw a sign on the wall identifying not only the 9 major food allergies, but also the safe handling practices a kitchen should follow for each one. Great! This is a sign that tells people with intolerances that we will be taken care of here.
Once seated, I told the waitress about my intolerance, and she immediately brought me a gluten-free menu. Another good sign. I ordered the gluten-free tuna burger, which (according to the gluten-free menu) is supposed to omit the bun, fries, and anything else containing gluten. When my plate came out with fries, I knew something was off. I asked the waitress, and she apologized, confirmed that the fries were not gluten-free and offered to bring me a side salad instead. Separately, I started eating the tuna, but was surprised to find (buried beneath the fish and a pile of coleslaw) crispy egg noodles. I stopped eating and again asked the waitress if my order was gluten free. She returned to the kitchen and informed me that, (1) the crispy noodles were not gluten free, (2) despite having apparently put “gluten free” on my order, the whole meal was not gluten free, (3) the same thing happened at the table next to ours, despite having notified the kitchen accordingly. So, having unknowingly eaten gluten, I now have to wait out a week or more of painful symptoms of my Celiac Disease.
I expect a lot more from restaurants that purport to exercise care for people with food allergies. It’s one thing if a kitchen is not equipped to cook according to dietary restrictions—I can manage my expectations. It is quite another when a restaurant is equipped to safely serve people with intolerances, communicates this to the patrons, and then fails to do so twice in a matter of an hour. There’s a lot of trust I have to put into restaurants, and I regret doing so in this instance.
I’m beyond grateful that my intolerance doesn’t send me into anaphylaxis. I hope that, wherever the breakdown happened between ordering and serving, it gets resolved before other folks with food intolerances get sick.
TL;DR gluten free diners, proceed with caution.
Great example of a Connecticut lobster "shack". They serve Connecticut style lobster rolls, they have a gluten free roll too, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have too. The rolls are pricey but it's lobster after all. The seating area is limited , so choose your time wisely, I would avoid when church gets out, as it's popular with a few churches close by.
So delicious!! I had the bigger one of the warm lobster rolls and it was amazing. The lobster was so
Good and there was so much of it!! I also have a gluten allergy and they had gluten free rolls and both the chowders were gluten free! Definitely recommend!!
My favorite Brunch destination!
They have EVERYTHING!
Bring your appetite because you will need it. It is like having breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert all in one place.
An example of my first plate was Prime rib, Ham, stuffed duck, tortellini, vegetables.
My daughter who has ciliac came back with a gluten-free waffle! I was shocked! We all took 1 bite of it and headed over to get our own! There was a bourbon maple syrup to drench it as well as many fruits and chocolate chips...you name it.
If you want an omelette they have a station that has everything.
You want cheeses and cured meats they have it.
Salmon and bagels and shrimp cocktail!
I had wanted to take my kids there many years ago and insisted we had to go on my birthday this year. My adult children were beside themselves. They could not believe the food choices and the quality and frankly the price per person is reasonable.
They have something for everyone!
Found this sweet spot when doing a search for Gluten Free options near me.
The Lobster Bisque was delicious and packed with Lobster. I also got the caramelized onion and apple grilled cheese on gluten free bread; which held up nicely compared to most gluten free breads I've had. We went during the lunch rush so we waited awhile for our food, and it came out at different times but everything was hot and fresh, and the delay in between meals was actually helpful when it came to helping our toddlers with their food. Definitely a nice find!!
Good place! I usually go to Abbott's, but decided to try a new lobster shack today. Glad I did. This place is very, very intuitive when it comes to those with celiac's disease, using a new company's rolls for those who are GF. My bride informed me the rolls here are the best around. Combine that with hearty portions of lobster meat, good sides and a fantastic view...it's a winning combination that ensures I'll be back. Great work, Shanks. You've offered an exceptionally good alternative to the very busy and difficult to find Abbott's.
OMG the food here is amazing to say the least. we got lobster bisque, the teriyaki buns, and the lobster ravioli all soooo good. we also got an alaska rainbow roll, also good but the other food was definitely the star of the show! The staff is beyond sweet! we got the flourless choc tart and mango sorbet for dessert. the cake was so good, a great option if you’re gluten free. id pass on the sorbet though it didn’t have a lot of flavor. overall amazing, will definitely be back!
I've been coming here on and off for years, and the food has always been just ok, but over the past few months we've had outstanding food! And they are the only place in my rotation that will make most dishes gluten free for me. The drinks are expensive, and could use a bit of a heavier pour for the price, but the service is always great. This place is back on our weekly rotation.
I had a party to celebrate my wedding here, and it was wonderful. We got a private room with a bar, the staff were great and responsive, and the food was excellent. They did an excellent job accommodating guests who don't drink and can't eat gluten, and allowed our photographer to circulate and get pictures of everyone celebrating. I would absolutely do an event at Stonebridge again.
The food is delicious. Great salads. They have a business lunch special that is pretty good value. I love the patio. They had no problems with my celiacs and were able to offer several gluten free options.
Lunch before dropping family member at train. Beautiful views. Food is excellent. Accommodated gluten free requests easily.
Update: Visited again on 10/16/23. Some changes on the menu that were outstanding. Wish this place was closer. Our waiter was particularly great!
We recently dined in one of the outdoor "igloos" at Rizutto's and it was fantastic. Our server, Alonna, was knowledgable, friendly and just the right amount of attentive. The menu was diverse enough for a gluten-free vegetarian and a meat-eater to leave full and satisfied. (As an aside: for those with nut allergies, they don't use any nuts in any of their dishes). The igloo was kept warm thanks to the heaters and full of ambiance from clever lighting. We will definitely be returning.
Food was good, but be very careful if you have celiac. Unfortunately my wife, who has celiac, ordered the tacos tonight with the corn tortilla and specifically asked for GF and mentioned several times she has celiac. Despite that she was sick all night. They have “GF” options, but these days in the US every restaurant says they have GF options to get you in the door. Avoid if you have any allergies or celiac disease. We will never come back here.
Arrived with a friend from out of town on the holiday. Hadn't eaten at this location in about 40 years when it was named differently.
The service was outstanding. The food was generously portioned and absolutely delicious. It was busy, but our food came in a timely manner, and the waitress couldn't have been more accommodating, and she helped my friend (gluten-free) with choices from the menu,
I highly recommend this restaurant, and I will be returning.
I am gf and df and explained to the waiter that I had these issues and was assured they could. accommodate me. My reactions are almost immediate and I had to leave quickly soon after starting to eat. I won't go back.
