I have eaten at blackies a few times, each time a dream for me, someone with celiac disease and a food lover. But this review isn't about those times.
Buckle up.
I host birthday parties for my kids. Not at play centers or whatever because no, why would I, thats too easy and I like hosting. But everything is always gf because I have to exist in my own home. I had made arrangements to have gf pizzas from another place close to me and their business hours changed making it impossible to accommodate hungry toddlers and their parents for the party time. Enter panic mode. I call blackies and leave what im sure is nothing short of a desperate dumpster fire voicemail and then pray to any deity who would answer. Plot twist there is in fact a saint of gastrointestinal distress. Blackies calls the next day says they can accommodate my pizza dilemma and boom I pick up 6 insanely good pizzas and my guests devour them and do the typical, "I cAnT bElIeVe ItS gLuTeN fReE" schpeal. I cannot thank the staff and management enough for saving my gluten free buns and rest assured I will probably order my party food again from you in the future but with way more notice 😅

Lots of GF options. The staff was knowledgeable and ready to help. They used specific blue rimmed plates for GF food. The food itself was hit or miss, but I did not get sick. I was happy to have so many options

Absolutely amazing food, very diverse menu options. I'm vegan but my husband is not. They had the regular menu as well as a Vegan menu and Gluten free menu! We got upgraded margs (which were amazing) vegan nachos, vegan Cali burrito with smoked tofu, and barbacoa burrito. Everything was amazing, if we ever busy Newport again, we'll be sure to be back!

During my recent four-day stay at the Residence Inn while attending Flight Sim Expo 2025, I was so happy to discover that 110 Grill was conveniently attached right to the hotel. It felt like such a treat to have a quality dining spot just steps from my room, especially after long days exploring the expo.
The restaurant has a warm and modern atmosphere, with a stylish interior featuring sleek wood finishes, cozy lighting, and an inviting open kitchen concept that lets you watch the chefs in action. It is spacious yet comfortable, making it perfect for both solo dining at the bar and gathering with friends at a table.
One of the biggest highlights about 110 Grill is their dedication to accommodating dietary needs. They are known for having a completely gluten-free menu, right down to a separate fryer to avoid cross-contamination. As someone who appreciates when restaurants go the extra mile for their guests, I thought that was fantastic.
I came in around noon on Sunday, and the place was surprisingly quiet, offering a peaceful escape from the busy weekend crowds. The bartender was absolutely wonderful. Although she seemed to be the only person working the floor at the time, she managed everything with such grace and friendliness. She was attentive and so kind, and she mixed some amazing drinks.
I enjoyed a couple of their signature 110 Margaritas, and they were both fantastic, perfectly balanced with fresh citrus flavors and just the right amount of tequila kick. For my meal, I ordered the Apricot Shrimp Risotto along with a side Caesar salad, and it completely blew me away. The risotto was creamy and rich without being heavy or mushy, and I was delighted that there were no diced onions hiding in it, since I usually find they overpower the dish. The shrimp were large and tender, and the hint of sweetness from the apricot created a beautiful harmony of flavors. It was one of those meals that stays with you long after you have left town because it was genuinely that delicious.
Looking through the menu, I noticed that 110 Grill offers a great variety of dishes ranging from hearty steaks and burgers to creative seafood options and vibrant vegetarian plates. Their menu often features seasonal specials and locally inspired flavors, keeping things fresh and exciting. They also have an impressive cocktail list and a nice selection of wines and local craft beers, which makes it a great spot for both dinner and drinks.
Service, even during quiet times, felt warm and personal, and I appreciated how attentive the staff were to details, especially when it comes to food allergies or dietary preferences.
If you find yourself staying at the Residence Inn or anywhere nearby, or you simply want a delicious meal in a modern, comfortable setting, I highly recommend checking out 110 Grill. It was the perfect place to relax, indulge in a fantastic meal, and treat myself during my trip to Flight Sim Expo. I am already looking forward to coming back the next time I am in town.

I wish I had known that their gluten free options were not the same as their on the menu options. I had heard the restaurant had a separate frier for gluten free orders and was so excited to try a new seafood spot, however the fried cod reuben I received was a cold batterless cod salad. The tarter sauce was more like a thin mayonnaise which soaked through the bread making it impossible to take out of the container. Beautiful establishment and friendly staff, but misleading info online led to an overall unpleasant experience.

Omg I loved this restaurant so much! They are so accommodating because my mom and I couldn’t have gluten, rice, beans, or corn so they let us know what everything we thought about ordering had before we ordered it. The oysters are the BEST, and I had the king crab which was so good and so filling. My mom ordered the blackened yellowfin tuna which was also so good. Delicious food and great service 10/10. Many servers came over to check on us to see if everything was okay. There are a few places to sit: under the tent, sun room, bar, upstairs. Nice view from each seat but mostly the sun room. Definitely will be coming back when I’m in Rhode Island again.

Really impressed by Legal Seafoods. They should have a higher rating than 3.3 on Yelp for sure. I know they have a lot of locations which is I didn’t have the highest hopes coming in.
The quality of the food was terrific and the service was excellent. Great portions as well.
It started with the hot/fresh rolls when we sat down. We all split the calamari - original style- which was fried nicely. However, this was the only dish that had a disappointing portion size. For close to $20, I expected more pieces.
I ordered the blackened yellowfin tuna ($41). It was cooked perfectly with nice flavor. However, my favorite part of the dish was the two sides I got with it. The curried vegetable medley was tasty, but the pad Thai style quinoa was out of this world! It had that typical pad Thai taste, and the amount given was super generous.
My mom ordered the crispy fish sandwich ($19). They were extremely considerate allowing her to sub out fries and coleslaw for other sides which more expensive. The fish sandwich was delicious as I had a few bites, but it could’ve used more fish itself.
I also had some of my Dad’s Anna’s Baked Haddock ($28.5). The piece was enormous. It must’ve taken up half of the plate and probably weigh a pound. The buttered crumb topping was delicious and the oven roasted broccoli was cooked very well.
We finished with the chocolate pudding cake ($12). It was incredibly moist and melts in your mouth. The texture was unbelievable. The molten center was fantastic and I wanted another after I finished. And I can’t believe it was gluten free.
We had an amazing waitress and she really knew how to do her job well. I think her name was Madison, she’s been working there over a year.
It’s very clean inside with a chill atmosphere and a huge bar in the middle.
Prices are on the higher side, but not too bad for a seafood centered restaurant.
A long-standing favorite with diverse and delicious options, making it a must-visit for anyone in the area.

One of the oldest restaurants in Rhode Island, and New England, is located across from an autobody shop, diagonal from a cemetery, and sitting on a rural road that feels like it's from the 70s.
Please do not judge a book by its cover, or a restaurant by its outside. I've yet to fully discover all that the Carriage Inn fully is, but here is what I've found:
An expansive menu. There are cocktails, wine, beer, and 11 rotating drafts. The end has all the typical American fixings, with gluten-free options such as rolls and pasta to substitute.
An amazing presentation of food. One time, I bought a burger to-go. When I forgot to ask for gluten-free rolls. What was picked up was a toasted burger bun that should have been in a FOOD COMMERCIAL. Normally, I don't write in all caps, but this bun was...George Clooney in glutinous form. Props to the chef!
A nice atmosphere. Some of the conversation I impolite overheard at my.last visit included an elementary schooler celebrating their summer, a family discussing the merits of a three legged picnic table, and some guy who goes to bachelor parties. The seating arrangements are spacious, and the interior has a blend of modern and traditional decor.
A lot of potential. Between the comedy events and the potential fundraiser opportunities that the Carriage Inn provides, there is a lot to do here.
As Arnold once said, "I'll be back!"
P.S. I recommend the Monday evening special for 2!

The food was certainly the highlight of our visit to the Boat House - my lamb was quite good but my partner’s cod with grits was phenomenal and well balanced. The seven stars focaccia (always delicious in its own right) was elevated with an array of spreads - heavenly. For me, the show stopper was our cake - limoncello mascarpone - not something I’d usually go for but truly divine. And, gluten free! Drinks were solid - Negroni was excellent - and the service and location were good. 4.5 stars.

My partner and I, on a whim, stopped by the Coast Guard House while we were driving through Narragansett yesterday afternoon and were absolutely blown away! Not only by the incredible service, (shouts out to Peter) but also the food and wine list! Whoever is running the beverage program is not messing around! I also have a gluten allergy and it’s rare to find such a large selection of gluten free options on a classic New England menu. Almost every dish on the menu could be made gluten free or was already gluten free, I was pumped. The linguini and clams might literally be the best I’ve ever had! Next to the incredible food was the insane wine list! My partner and I LOVE champagne and their list had some baller bottles. We ordered a delicious 1/2 bottle of Tarlant with lunch (we couldn’t resist). Also, if you have the funds they have Krug listed as well!! IYKYK! After lunch and champagne, the dessert list was dropped and once again all but one of the desserts were gluten free! They have a pastry chef (I believe her name is Chef Jamie) who comes in everyday at the crack of dawn to create some of these masterpieces. We ordered the honey Pot De Crème with a glass of Moulin Touchais (dessert wine from 1984) and it took what was already a perfect lunch to the next level. Can’t wait to come back for more!

Went here for dinner this past week and it was amazing! I was craving ramen and my cousin said she knew a place and this is where we ended up. We went on a Thursday night around 6:30 and were sat immediately as we (three of us total) walked through the door which was awesome!
Atmosphere: It is a very cozy environment, which I think was perfect. It definitely gave date night, or out with your friends vibes. It is pretty dim lighting which is great, especially for those who get overstimulated with bright overhead light. It was not loud at all and was easy to have conversation at our table.
Service: Our server was really kind! I don't remember their name, but they had darker hair, with glasses and was super sweet and attentive the entire night!
Food: I ordered the miso ramen, and my cousins ordered the veggie and chicken ramens. All of us were obsessed with how good it was. There is a large variety on the menu and something for everyone, including vegetarian and gluten-free options. Favorite part of the ramen was the egg, which I know sounds odd to point out but they're SOOOOOOO good.
Overall, I can't wait to go back and bring my friends visiting from out of town!

Unfortunately, this is the 3rd time that the gluten free scallops were over cooked, dry and the bread crumbs were like sand. The server told me to watch the plate very hot, but 15 minutes later when my wrist touch the dish I got burned, and that is why the meal was dry and gritty.
The other dinner the fish, was also different, no taste at all.
This is very disappointing since this was a go to place when we were in the area. Sorry to say since we can no longer enjoy the food , partially because of new owners, we will go more to are other 2 seafood restaurants.
Especially since they have chowder as a side dish .
Sometimes things don't change for the better. Than again nickel and dime never kept loyal customers.

Worst restaurant experience ever! Do not go here! I have celiac and I ordered a meal off the item that was shown as gluten free on the menu after I told the waitress that I was gluten free, and it turns out that it wasn’t! I ate some of the meal, and something didn’t seem right to me. I asked the waitress (who finally came back after at least 20 mins, and there was only one other table seated in the entire restaurant) to verify if it was indeed gluten free, she said that she “thinks” it is. She went back to the kitchen to check and then a gentleman came out (assuming the manager?) and informed me that it was not made as gluten free. He said the menu has it listed that way because it can be made gluten free upon request. That is NOT how it is written on the menu, PLUS I did inform her when ordering the food that I cannot have anything with gluten. I was beyond livid. They did not even offer to comp my meal and I was sick to my stomach after eating the small portion of my meal. Fix your menu!!!!!

On September 1, 2024 we hosted a Celebration of Life at The Beach House for an amazing friend who passed away. She wanted a "party" on the water and didn't want everyone to be sad and crying. Even though it was a difficult event, the manager, Eric, was outstanding in helping us plan and implement a perfect day for all of us to be together, share memories and remember our friend. Eric planned for us to have two rooms, including the indoor bar, where people could be together to share stories, hug each other and enjoy some delicious food and beverages. Eric helped us plan finger foods and went out of his way to make to be sure we had gluten free options. He was very accommodating in letting us choose what would work best for our people. The food was served in both rooms and there was plenty of variety: shrimp, meatballs, flatbread pizzas, chicken, burger sliders, chocolate chip cookies and brownies. Everyone loved the food and commented on how delicious everything was. We were also allowed to pack up any food that was served and not eaten to take home with us. The service was top notch, we had two fabulous servers and two wonderful bartenders who were very kind, caring and respectful the entire time we were there. Eric was more than attentive to us and helped us set up a monitor for a slide show and videos. He helped us move table and chairs to meet our needs. We would highly recommend this restaurant for any event and/or dinner out. The setting is beautiful and the staff is amazing. Thank you Eric, the servers and the bartenders for making this event successful and for being so kind and considerate.

Great little spot, I got both of the oyster shooters; I enjoyed the Bloody Mary one more than the Mexican.
They're raw oysters were so fresh and flavorful. They were very clean, not gritty or briny.
Updating my review with some photos. We went hard on the APPY HOUR deals. I forgot to snap pictures of the oysters...again! I was just enjoying them too much. I got the diver scallops done Oscar's style, which they altered to fit my gluten free diet. My husband got the Shrimp Cocktail and Lobster Bisque, the Bisque needed more sherry and they could be a little more generous with the Lobster. All he got was that tiny little bit in the photo. Shrimp Cocktail is not worth it.

The ultimate buffet (check); farm animals (check); corn hole (check); water views (check); hammocks (check); outdoor bars (check); a gift shop (check)....great friends (check)...Pampered in luxury (check). The food is luxurious, but the Nordic is so much more. About 40 of my closest friends rented a bus and trekked about 1 hr. 17 minutes. The pastoral land and wooded areas you pass through is gorgeous. Our driver wound down very narrow lanes. We emerge at the Nordic. The entrance has two brazen pillars on either side. It is still kind of called the Lodge...guess they dropped it because people thought the Nordic had sleeping accomendation...I mean yes people it is amazing, but you don't have to go home, you just cannot stay there (after 2 hours of bliss). I got to wander the grounds before we were seated. I went to look at the Alpacas, sheep, a horse, donkey, and other animals. There were a number of tour busses. I used a restroom near the water. The cleaning crew were coming in as I was leaving. The bathroom was clean, lots of hand towels, and liquid soap. It was a little blustery out. Sitting on the actual water must be amazing on a less windy day. A volleyball net is set up. There is a pavilion and a fire pit in this area of the property.
After having a drink from the outdoor bar, I sat on one of the many Adirondack chairs. The Nordic had flavored water around the area... It was not too long before my group was called in. We were greeted by Michael from the front of the house. He quickly got us seated. Really great conversationalist and you can tell Michael takes pride in his job as does his staff. Our server was Amanda. She was just bubbly and really took care of us. Amanda made suggestions about food, preferences, ways to approach the buffet, replaced drinks, clear plates, gave wet wipe towelettes, and was there when we needed, but never hovered. Soft drinks came with your meal. Bar drinks/cocktails extra, but reasonably priced. My friends had an expresso martini at $12. Another friend had a Ulta for $6. I saw cocktails for $10. Check out the placemats for information.
So the food. I started with dessert. That was my game plan. I had an orangsicle made with vanilla Hagan Daas and Fanta. Then on a plate; I had dragon fruit, a maroon, lychee fruit, Turkish delight, coconut dulce Leche cake, triple chocolate, snickers cheesecake...Pro tip: ask for half slices. I ended up sampling a little bit of all the desserts. The Beligium Mousse cup was obscenely good.
Lots of people talk about the food. I will tell you the lobster fritters and clam chowder were standouts. The clam chowder was creamy, chunks of potatoes and clam. Read the menu on online, there is something for everyone plus Gluten Free options.
This place is so magical that we witnessed a proposal from another party. Congratulations Marvin and now fiance?!?! This shows you how special this place is to people. Really everywhere you turned customers were sociable. I stood in line with someone who talked to me about where they were visiting from. Just a really family style party atmosphere.
I think it is important to know that even though your tip is included in the $145...It gets split among the whole staff. My table left a cash tip, which went directly to Amanda. Amanda really did a super job. My soapbox about treating all wait staff similarly at other establishments. Tips thehard-workinging individuals who deal with us and make our time seamless (remember maid services too at hotels WHICH the Nordic is not a hotel)!!
I came, I saw, did not try to conquer, but had a couple of plates, enjoyed my time!! What a really great experience! Naptime :)

I wish I could partially recommend a place. I am not one to leave bad reviews however the ignorance we received on 7/27 is beyond unacceptable. Our server was very clearly on the lackadaisical side. Normally, no worries, however when you have someone with celiac disease you are always cautious. The server assured us the menu offered “so many gluten free options and not to worry” so we ordered asking multiple times if particular items could be made gluten free. She said yes and put in our order. Our food was dropped by Patrick who I then asked for reassurance if both dishes we asked to be GF were in fact gluten free because I wasn’t a fan of the server’s lackadaisical personality. He went back to Chef Cara and a taller man behind the line and double checked. The pork chop was in fact NOT gluten free nor was it even marked on the ticket to be made gluten free. A mistake like this would have sent my brother to the hospital and killed someone like my mom who is an extreme celiac. While the meals we ate were yummy and we are EXTREMELY thankful for people like Patrick and Cara. The server we had should absolutely not be working in the industry if they can’t take a gluten allergy seriously or even bother learning a menu.
