The most incredible gluten and dairy free waffle cones. I also had their ice cream sandwich and they make the creamiest dairy free ice cream. Definitely worth checking out. It's 100% gluten free🙌🏻
We we disappointed in the quality of the food on this visit. We had 2 hybrid combos, both came with badly burnt kumera fries. The egg on one burger was burnt and the bacon on the other burger. We also ordered a gluten free burger which was fine apart from the bread was so stale that my partner rated it the worst burger she ever had.
We frequent this store fairly regularly and have not experienced this before, so I called to see what they would say about the quality of the meal. Unfortunately I got a machine as they were too busy to take the call.
Not Impressed all, there are plenty of other options for take out, I may not go back after this as there is nothing fun about having takeout at home and it being yuck!
the gamberia pasta was absolutely beautiful, aswell as the cubano cocktail. being gluten & dairy free, it’s hard for me to come across restaurants that have my dietary options but the staff was excellent. will definitely visit again for dinner when I’m back at the mount.
Fantastic restaurant, delicious food, great prices, loads of gluten free options. The service was fast, friendly and we couldn’t fault anything. Loved it so much we went twice while on holiday at Mt Maunganui.
My daughter has been here many times raving about their "Reuben" and hash sticks, it's her ultimate favourite, the kind that puts a smile on a teenager! 😀 I now see why! Although I had the single burger & hash sticks, it was delicious & her Reuben left me wanting to come back & try it out for sure! Some menu items cater to dairy free & gluten free too (bonus)! Staff super lovely & cute place. Highly recommend 🙌💓
I like this place, we have eaten here twice as a family. The only let down is they don’t offer any gluten/dairy free side with the steak. Chips are in a shared frier, so not GF. And the mash has dairy in it. Otherwise would give it a higher score :) Service is always very good with nice friendly staff.
Loved that the cabinet had lots of nice gluten free options, esp nice for brunch. It was a freezing cold rainy Saturday lunch and it was not overly busy. The inside area was toasty warm, but the outside covered area was very cold and could benefit from some gas heating as it was an excellent spill over space. A few of our coffee orders got messed up, but the drinks were tasty. A handy place to hang out after a cold netball game.
We returned after a great experience about a year ago while visiting the Mount. This time however the food was just okay. Although the bean dip was stone cold. Evidently it's meant to be.... Yet when you get bean dip as a side on a meal it is warm?! The service was poor, at least five servers, on a quiet night and we were left waiting an incredibly long time before the desert order was taken. When asked if any desserts were available as gluten free nothing was possible .... Not even ice cream which came with other desserts?!? Was just okay, but nothing to make us want to return.
Highly recommend this Cafe, especially for coeliacs. Lovely staff. Knowledgeable about coeliac disease. Appetizing menu! Omelets were delicious and huge! Great value for money. Coffee was good. We will be going back.
Usually this place is fantastic all the time, so maybe lots of new staff on and also new menu, so for me being gluten-free and dairy free: I struggled to find something. Prices also appeared to have jumped by $4-5, which was also a surprise. But hey don't let this put you off, it's usually awesome

I used to love the gluten free seeded sourdough and it was sold fresh. In fact if it was not baked that morning it was half price. Now I'm finding that the Tauranga and Mount Maunganui bakeries are selling old bread. Even today I went to pick up what I thought was a today's bake in Tauranga only to check the expiry dates. One was two days away and the other four. The assistant couldn't even answer when I queried why the supposed fresh breads had two different use by dates and why it wasn't today's bread. The Mount Maunganui branch was selling week-old bread last time I went there. So I will find another provider.
My 13yo son, who is coeliac, went up to the counter and asked if the iced chocolate is gluten-free. The two girls behind the counter laughed at him and ridiculed him for asking - asking him if he was "feeling funky" - AND did not check to see if it was, saying we're pretty sure chocolate is fine. We will not be back.
Disappointed that there weren't any vegan options, (no meat and dairy products). There was vegetarian and gluten free options though. Us being vegan, just had a drink.
Love this place, the food and staff are always great. The best beef tataki too, get it every time. Josh was super helpful and great with all questions gluten free

We had a fabulous night at the special Bastille Day quiz dinner at Solera. The food, wine and atmosphere was superb. Will definitely come again. My sister had gluten and dairy issues which were handled really well 😀
Always happy with the takeaways. I have coeliac disease so can’t eat gluten and the curries and phad Thai can be made gluten free. We also ordered a vegan curry which has a nice selection of veggies. The staff are always warm and friendly. I would highly recommend :)

The best craft made ice cream at the mount. Great for Vegans, gluten-free, dairy free, or eat everything types. Also, amazing dobuts and superb coffee. I really love this place.
Edit April 2023. Ok, definitely back to 5 stars. The food was amazing with several vegan and gluten free options. Service was friendly and was a nice atmosphere. So they have sorted out the problems mentioned below and I'm happy to recommend Viet Lane.
Edit Feb 2023. Very disappointed that my booking was confirmed via email and then I got a call about a 1/2 hour later to say they have had to cancel my booking as they are full. I feel they need to improve their systems so I don't get a confirmation that they can't honour.

Very nice food. They have a few vegan and gluten free options. The service was not great. We had to wait quite a while for drinks to arrive and then one of the mains seemed to have been forgotten and there was no check made. We had to ask for it while the rest of the group waited.
Really disappointed. I ordered GF bread and waited ages for my food. Eventually came and I dived in, only for 5 minutes later the waitress to bring me gluten free bread on the side apologizing after I already had a few bites of the regular bread. So many waiters trying to help one table and orders were lost and so much confusion was caused. Food was not amazing and when leaving almost over charged because of their mistake and it was a public holiday and we were charged 15% surcharge but totally not worth it after this experience.
