Chase was amazing! Made my sister’s bday dinner special & gave special attention to the gluten-free choices to make sure the dishes were gluten-free. 10/10! Highly recommend Aba!
Cool date night spot. Options for everyone! I am gluten free (intolerance not allergy) and had no issues. I really loved Madai and I always love me some Chicago RAW. It was really nice to have the greenhouse-like glass roof above us, but I felt like some nice ambient music would have been a good addition. The service is was very polite and speedy.
First time eating here. They were great about handling my gluten allergy. The mushroom casserole was DELISH, the horseradish cream with the prime rib OUT OF THIS WORLD, yes it is thin sliced prime rib. I have NO IDEA why anyone is upset about this??? The meat is great quality, cooked to the perfect temperature, well seasoned (the only dish we had that WASNT over salted). It’s a generous serving- the two slices equal the same size hunk of beef I’ve enjoyed at any other steak-centric elevated pub type restaurant. It’s like a cooler version of RPM steak. My partner loved the sticky date cake for dessert, the brown butter ice cream was mid; only improved by the “hot” fudge (more lukewarm than hot in temperature). The ice cream didnt taste much like brownbutter at all. Would have appreciated the option for a salted caramel instead of only hot fudge.
The service was really quite good, if veering on too eager. Our server was kind, approachable, made a great surf and turf entree recommendation. The shrimp scampi (about 6 large two-bite shrimp in a buttery sauce; no noodles) alongside the prime rib, mushroom casserole and the wedge. She also offered to bring a sample of two pinots and a procesco for my partner try, which we would have never presumed to ask for.
My biggest complaint of every dish, except the prime rib, including the wedge salad were 2 notches too salty. I would have enjoyed it much more if I didnt feel slowly dehydrated by the sodium. A dry wine or soda water is a good idea to have on hand.
The place is quite large and noisy, leaning dangerously close to a cheesecake factory vibe, though it’s saved by the decor which is incredibly charming and homey with bespoke touches like a vintage linenkugel, very midwest, sign and what looks to be grandma-stitched, framed needlepoint roses.
We will definitely be back and look forward to sitting in a more secluded part of the restaurant.
First issue was the lack of understanding of celiac. I get that my fiancée having a disease is our limitation but this restaurant was supposed to be good about it. We explained about how even cross contamination makes her sick and the 2nd thing we ordered was brought out and when we asked if it was fried (Brussel Sprouts) they said yes and we asked if it was a shared fryer and they said yes. So she couldn’t eat it. (When we already explained that she would get sick from cross contamination, this was a major oversight by the waiter). They also had very small portions of the pasta dishes and the prices were way higher than they should be given the quality of food being just okay. Really disappointed overall.

There was a 2 hour wait to get into Au Cheval; and many people we talked to highly recommended we go there. They said it was an amazing burger, and we needed to try it out.
So... we waited our two hours and wandered other establishments, wondering what this burger would be like.
Firstly, hype is a dangerous thing, especially in the food industry, and when we were finally allowed to enter and eat we noticed that the menu was down to Earth and there wasn't anything too crazy or unique...
But.... I tell you what, it was a delicious hamburger, and the place reminded me of a nostalgic diner feel with a modern hipster take; it was highly enjoyable to be there and to just experience your meal with whoever you chose to share it with.
They took their food and their reputation very seriously; they paid attention to every detail, and they were highly aware of food allergies and how to navigate the menu for people with Gluten Allergies like myself.
The hamburger was delcious... complimented with their in-house "Dijonaise" sauce.
The coffee was amazing... but what made our experience even better was when my buddy asked for some real cream for his coffee.
Our waitress proceeded to go into the kitchen and to make a fresh blend of milk and cream to ensure that he could thoroughly enjoy his meal and coffee.
The food was tasty, the staff was great, and you could tell that everyone who worked there cared about the customer experience and the reputation of the restaurant.
Highly recommend you grab a bite when you can.
Allergy friendly options are available.
My child and I went there after an appt just searching for a quick snack. I have Celiac and the GF donuts were PHENOMENAL!! So light and fluffy, you can't tell they're GF. We'll definitely be back!
Hands down, the best gluten-free pasta in Chicago, and the rest of the menu is great too. They have a nice little summer patio and super cozy inside space in the winter. Wait staff are always personable and professional. Nice Italian wine list with some unusual offerings.
Awesome bbq spot that can accommodate gluten free! From Texas, it took me 2.5 years to try this place. I wish I had listened to people and tried it sooner!
Highly recommend: pastrami, brisket, cornbread (yes, gluten free!), spicy pickles
Will be back soon to try more!!
I am a physician who specializes in human optimization and highly recommend this restaurant. The food is organic, plant based and gluten free. Everything is always fresh and delicious. Fantastic service. Sustainable packaging. It exceeds all the requirements for a healthy diet.
You may think fries wouldn’t be your first pick at an pizza restaurant, or that you wouldn’t want Caesar dressing on it, but for some reason it’s a religious experience, as is the gluten free pizza. I’m not even gluten free but my fiancé is and for some reason I prefer it anyway. Everything’s delicious in a way that doesn’t make sense.
Customer service and management seems to be top notch too.
Had an absolutely delicious dinner here last night. We all ordered different steaks (mostly wagyu) and added on scallops, crab, and bone marrow with bacon jam. Everyone was very happy with their meals, steaks were cooked perfectly. Mashed potatoes, fries, and green bean sides were delicious too. Cocktails were excellent. We ordered an extremely delicious chocolate cake and peach tarte tatin for dessert as well as the 30-year port. Honestly it was just a perfect meal all around, I highly recommend!
Allergen note: we had gluten and dairy allergies at the table and they were knowledgeable and could easily accommodate both. Would consider this restaurant celiac friendly.

I was so excited to find vegan ice cream that didn't come from a grocery store! Flavors are marked as vegan, dairy free and gluten free. There are different flavors in the scoops freezer as opposed to in the pints. I was VERY disappointed when I found out that the only scoop flavor that was both gluten-free and dairy-free was the hot toddy, which does not appeal to me at all. Of all things, I never expected gluten to be the limiting factor in **ice cream** flavors, you know, a food that doesn't have gluten by default. I ended up getting a chocolate truffle pint (I think the other GF DF pint was cold brew coconut). It's good chocolate ice cream, but not worth the higher price compared to Oatly or So Delicious. I was SO LET DOWN by the lack of options that were both GF and DF. I guess mint chocolate chip, chocolate chunk and fudge swirl are too basic for them.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Heather waited on us and was very friendly, made sure all of my special requests were accommodated. I had the Iron Maiden burger on a gluten free bun and it was unreal how good it was! Not the best picture quality but it shows how large the burger was and very well dressed! Will be back any time we are in town!
Chicago boasts an incredible culinary scene, making it easy to find fantastic dining experiences. However, this restaurant truly stands out and warrants repeat visits.
The service was impeccable, with a special thanks to Nicci for her exceptional attentiveness.
The food was exquisite, and a particular highlight was their gluten-free pasta – arguably the best we've encountered in the city. While not your typical steakhouse fare, this dish alone is reason enough to return.
As a celiac girlie, I felt pretty comfortable eating here. The person who sat us (manager? Host?) had no idea about the GF options, but our server was confident that their food would be safe, and I believe it was!
Their menu seems very farm to table and the only gluten containing items were the pastas, chips, and pita.
I genuinely felt very good after eating here. I tried a few apps, a few sides, and the sea trout dish
Terrific Italian food with amazing service and a quiet, comfortable atmosphere. They have amazing homemade pasta dishes. They also offer many of their pastas as gluten free. Overall a terrific place for an intimate night out, casual dinner or business.
Overall, after eating at the Publican we loved it! Oysters were amazing as well as the carrots. They made carrots taste good!! I highly recommend the bread too. It was super fresh and had a nice hint of salt which added a perfect blend of flavors. The burrata was out of this world and mouth melting and the fish was a crowd pleaser. I loved the look of the restaurant because it had a fresh wholesome vibe to it. This place carries vegetarian options, dairy free, and gluten free! Kid friendly and service is awesome. Our waiter checked on our table every so often and made sure we were settled. There was not one thing that we didn’t like here and I would also like to add that there was a changing table in the bathroom for one of my family members. They appreciated this because most restaurants don’t hold those. 10/10 recommend the Publican!
Amazing all around. Service was great. The food was exceptional. I don't normally eat mussels but they way they make it with the broth removes any fishy aftertaste. It comes with sourdough bread. The tuna crudo was refreshing. The sea bass was flavored to perfection over a bed of spinach. The kale salad is also a must get. It's refreshing and the dressing is just right. For those with dietary issues like me, they do make accommodation gluten allergies and the server makes sure you are aware of any cross contamination.
I can’t get over the intense flavors of the meats here! Everything I tried tasted so fresh and delicious. I was looking for a quick meal and walked past noticing the sign out front. I walked in asking about gluten free and dairy free options and I believe it was the owner guiding me. She was so helpful and kind, offering substitutions or alternatives to meet my dietary and allergy restrictions. I ordered the beef plate and my friend ordered the seven spice chicken. Both meats were so tender and full of flavor. I paired it with the rice and lentils (she explained their regular rice has gluten in it because there’s noodles in the rice) and the lentil soup and we loved everything!
Great Ethiopian food and injera in a convenient location. So glad they have a stall in the timeout market. We had the vegetarian platter with extra gluten free injera on the side.
Great service, wonderful atmosphere, staff and,as well as food. The choice’s are phenomenal and there’s no wrong choice. Great place for gluten-free,as well as healthy eating options. I love it here stop but you won’t be disappointed!
