This was my 2nd time at Takashi, first was before my Celiac diagnosis. The menu names are clever, and although I didn't look at the GF menu - the server said GF soy sauce/tamari could be used on really any roll, excluding tempura, of course. Very accomodating!
We started our wait at the Post Office and I got the Sex With An Ex drink - tasted light and refreshing and flavorful - definitely more than the name of the drink suggests. ;)
We waited exactly the time we were told for a table, and when we were sat - ordered the calamari as a starter (made with cornmeal so if you're not worried about cross-contamination with the fryer, you can have it. Sooo good), spicy mussels with quail eggs (insanely good - we don't think we'll ever be able to have a non-spicy one EVER again. Might start bringing our own thai chili oil with us if we go anywhere else), the Salmon-Scallop Gunken Maki (a huge bite without a ton of flavor but hearty), The Mr. Blue Sky Roll (only reason the review was 4 stars - this roll didn't do it for any of the 4 people eating, it was bland and tasted a lot like the sesame seeds unfortunately) and finally - the Surf & Snow roll (INCREDIBLE. The roll sounds so different with the pear, but this was the favorite).
Our server suggested a yuzu spritz cocktail, which I can't even find now on the menu, and it was delish!
All the way great experience, great atmosphere, great food, great drinks!
