Zest Restaurant

The waiter was great. The food is excellent. Our youngest has to eat gluten-free and the homemade gluten-free bread tastes great. When we asked, we got two more slices to take away.

One of the best gluten-free experiences you can have at a restaurant. Yes, there are many exceptional restaurants in Cape Town, but at most of them when they hear I am celiac the choices are a salad or steak with no sauce (or the scarier alternative where they seem to not really care). At Zest from the moment we first were seated and my husband informed the waiter taking our drink order about my celiac they gave us great attention. They brought out gluten free bread specially for me. Then our waitress Anishq really knew which dishes were and were not gluten free, and all were delicious- especially the smoked tomato salad and prawns. But the most reassuring of all was we ordered chocolate fondant, then she came back to let us know that it way not gluten free and offering other options. Clearly they were paying attention and knew what was going on at multiple levels. Plus even the busboy knew the menu and mentioned which of our dishes were his favorites. Such an excellently managed restaurant with exceptional service, and all so delicious!
