Very delicious experience! Went here for my granddaughter's graduation celebration. My son-in-love made the reservation for 11 a month before. He explained that he could not find a place large enough for our family. The reservation changed to 14 within 2 weeks and they still said yes we have room.
Having my mom, children and most of my grandchildren at the same table is a feat and usually takes 2 tables so cudos for the comfortable atmosphere with succulent plants everywhere.
I looked up the gluten free menu a week before and I was able to call and discuss the odds of cross contamination with the manager. I read complaints about them having a limited option of gluten-free food but they have a small menu period so it is portioned aptly. Speaking of portions 🤯
The amount was so much that for some options the plate could not fit it all! Everything looked beautiful and appetizing.
I decided before going that I would have the GF pancake but after the long graduation and our arrival time that option was no longer available. The waitress, sweet young lady, suggested shrimp and grit cake. I saw this and thought it would be good but I assumed the sausage in it was andouille which is not GF but it was regular crumbled sausage. I opted for this selection and was pleasantly surprised! I also had a problem with my ginger ale which was all seltzer. The sweet young lady switched it out for some n/a ginger beer which I never had before but I liked it. I loved my shrimp and grits and the upscale beauty did not go unnoticed but I did not take a photo because I was starving 😆. My granddaughter took a photo of her hen and bread (my daughter said that this was gentrified children and waffles) I will share with you. My pescatarian granddaughter was also limited in her options but her pancake, yes only one, took over the whole plate and looked divine! My son and grandson had chicken and biscuit and neither could pick it up to eat because it was so huge!
Not one complaint from my family is a huge deal!
Now I heard that the bathrooms were confusing as they had dinosaur symbols but not gender specific.
We will be back in 2027 when my second granddaughter graduates from NCGU. Or maybe I'll stop in to visit when we have our playdates during the semester. I've got to try that GF pancake!
Side note my granddaughter looked up their IG page and gave us the history and background of the family owned small business. 🩵
