They found a way to make injera gluten free so no excuses for you gluten avoiders. Even my parents loved it! The service was helpful and classy. Drinks and wine--yes! High-quality cakes & muffins, with lots of vegan & gluten free options. Whole cakes to order and ready to go. Large choice of by the slice cakes. Eclectic and understated exterior and interior ambiance. On a busy avenue, but easy parking on the adjacent side streets. Nice seating area inside. Not a coffee shop, but they do serve a single choice of drip brew if you’re not picky.

I really wanted to love Via Chicago, especially as someone managing both gluten and dairy allergies. I built my own medium pizza with the gluten-free crust and the vegan cheese combo (Daiya and tofu ricotta). Unfortunately, it just didn’t hit the mark for me. The crust was thinner and a bit tougher than expected (definitely not worthy of the Chicago style title), but the biggest issue was the cheese… It was so heavy and overpowering that it completely overshadowed the rest of the pizza. Being from Chicago, I fully understand that Chicago style pizza has a lot of cheese, but when you’re working with alternative cheeses, certain alterations need to be made because they simply DO NOT cook the same as regular cheese options. The texture ended up being more slimy than satisfying, and there was more cheese than crust. There was actually more cheese than anything else, including the toppings that I added (pepperoni, pineapple and supposedly onion, but I didn’t see or taste that on the pizza) Ultimately, I understand that allergy-friendly options are often more expensive, but when I’m paying $35 for a medium pizza, I at least hope I’ll want to eat the leftovers. Sadly, that wasn’t the case here. While I appreciate the effort to offer gluten-free and vegan options, I don’t think I’ll be returning. If you’re looking for great gluten-free and vegan pizza in Portland, I’d highly recommend Boxcar instead, they do it Detroit style and they do it right!

Start to finish, Rangoon bistro was the most wonderful experience! Excellent customer service started with a helpful call about hours, dietary restrictions, etc., and carried through to friendly banter with the chefs over absolutely delectable dishes. The tea leaf salad and very large dumpling were the highlights of an all around delicious selection (and are both gluten free!). We live out of town, but may start making the trip to Portland more regularly to try new items on the rotating menu! Thanks to everyone at Rangoon Bistro for an unforgettable evening!

Don’t go when they’re understaffed and/or busy if you have food allergies or make substitutions. I ordered a gluten free chicken burrito with black beans (instead of pinto) & guac instead of cheese. I clarified that it was all GF/DF. First they gave me someone else’s GF/vegan burrito. Then they remade the chicken burrito but it had cheese. The next one was GF/chicken/DF and that’s as good as I was going to get (it has pinto beans & no guac, but at least I wasn’t going to get sick eating it). I thought it was awesome that I could get a GF burrito and had done so a few times but their lack of attention to detail making my food tonight will have me rethinking if it’s worth it.

The food was delicious! We are from out of town, and we'd never been to Boxcar Pizza before. I am gluten free and vegan, so finding good pizza is tough. This was THE BEST vegan, gluten free pizza I've ever had! They also had Cheesy Garlic Bread that had a gluten free option. Simply amazing!

Vegan celiac here! I’m lucky Red Robin is my husband’s favorite restaurant, because they always know how to make sure I eat well and safely. Shout out to our server Hana for tonight’s dinner! Our party had a bunch of dietary requirements and she handled it great, went back to the kitchen multiple times to make sure we all got what we needed.

I ordered the pancakes and they just didn't have any flavor also a little burnt. My husband asked for a hot tea and got it barely above room temperature. He also ordered the gluten free pancakes and he said there wasn't much flavor for that either. Corn beef hash was great though. Doesn't take cards, cash or check only

100% recommend stopping in if ever given the opportunity!! Best Italian food around. The owner is hands down the sweetest person I've come across in the restaurant industry. The way she treats her customers is worth all 5 stars every day! There are so many GLUTEN-FREE options. And the taste... can't tell it's even gluten free. Careful eating here... you'll eat too much and leave too full every time!

I think people need to temper their expectations with the fact you're in basically rural Oregon. This isn't a city, it's definitely a small town. I came here after finding it on the Find Me Gluten Free app. I came here because I have Celiac disease and read the owner of someone related to the owner is also a Celiac. Ambiance is definitely Italian restaurant in small town America. It's at the end of a strip mall near the Albertsons market. My menu was a printed paper that had gotten wet and then dried so the ink for the drink menu was smeared. Waitress was nice. She let me know that the fried foods and the desserts were gluten-free. I was disappointed to find out that making the food gluten-free is an undisclosed upcharge and that there wasn't any gluten-free bread. I got the appetizer of fried mushrooms for $15 which I felt was a bit much for button mushrooms rather than a fancier fungi. I had the $24 gluten-free chicken parmesan and while it was fine, I think I'd go with something else next time. My husband got the regular pasta and ordered the $23 carbonara, not even looking at his menu. That was a mistake because their carbonara is a mushroom cream dish and my husband hates mushrooms. "Carbonara" is a specific dish - cured pork, eggs, hard cheese and salt and pepper. Imagine ordering bolognese and it being full of mushrooms as the default. It's odd. My husband ordered wine and I got an Italian soda in guava flavor. Usually I'm sucking down 4-5 glasses of water but the water here was the local tap water which has a strong mineral taste. Overall, the meal was okay but I was a bit disappointed as a Celiac. Visited October 2024.

We stopped here for lunch after visiting the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Overall, we enjoyed eating out at this restaurant. The employees were welcoming and made sure we were satisfied with our food choices. Veggie burgers and gluten free options are available. We loved the coleslaw……delicious!!

Very busy, in a slightly crowded space, my friend and I waited about 20 minutes for a table. She had the egg scramble and I had a breakfast sandwich. Sides of potatoes were good and grits excellent. My sandwich was decent, with some nice flavors, should have gotten the bacon. The scramble was huge and full of veggies. Waiter was very nice and helpful dealing with my friend's gluten issues. This wasn't my 1st time here, but 1st in a while.

I felt normal again to be able to order gluten free pancakes or waffles off the menu! Their Apple Pancake from Denmark was nearly to die for - oh my word!!! Plus I ordered a side of scrambled eggs, which were very fluffy and tasteful. I told my husband we'd have to move here! They tend to get REALLY busy, but I assure you, for what I ate, it was worth it. Going late in the morning is a little better, or on Sunday. Plus they had the really cute Oregon Coast Music Festival framed posters that were fun to look at. The next morning we came back so I could have GF blueberry pancakes. The only downside to this was the berries ibviousky weren't fresh, and the berries were small. But I still feel like this was an all around good experience. The waitress, Kathleen (?) was a joy!

Love this place! Everything is marked on the menu and their gf pita is delicious! They’ll bring you your own oil with seasonings too for the pita so there’s no cross contact at the table. Def recommend!

I’ve been a fan of eating here ever since 2005 but I have to eat gluten free now and oh my goodness….extremely disappointed…almost seems like the crust is already prepackaged and they just throw on toppings and roast it for a minute or two. Awful crust.

Any place that sells gluten free pancakes is a good place for me. The ambience and rest of food was very nice too. The seasoned tofu was good, but a little too salty for me.
