Marilyn worked with me to make a 60th Birthday cake for my wife. She was easy and fun to work with giving me the back story of POC and her years as a teacher. In short, we made an easy connection and Marilyn did every thing she could to make me a happy customer. While on the more expensive side, it's hard to find quality GF and DF offering that taste as good as POC's red velvet cake tastes. Our group agreed the cake was OUTSTANDING! "No way this can be gluten and dairy free?!" For a special occasion, consider paying a little extra for a dessert that delivers.
Charming and unique, this family-owned bakery offers delicious, fresh treats that everyone raves about, plus incredible cold brew coffee on tap!

I was shocked to see that there weren't 100% 5 stars on this place...! It is our favorite place in town-- for edible! We leave in deep NE Portland and drive all the way out for the goodies.
I am allergic to gluten, soy, and dairy, and not only can I have basically everything in The store, I haven't had anything like it since realizing I had allergies (over a decade ago). Hands down beats Petunia's or G.E.M. or any of the other alternative bakeries.
My partner eats all the things, and still will get a bunch for herself. We had Sinful Confections for our wedding, and no one had any idea it was gluten/soy/dairy free-- and people thought it was amazing!
Anyway, if you haven't tried them-- do it!
Prices went up on my bread $4 overnight. Not even a casual increase. I'm gluten free because I'm a celiac, not because I'm rich!
Grabbed the Holliday bread and 3 of them were already molded.
Otherwise it's convenient to go to, just bring extra money for their extreme corporate overhead
A hidden gem boasting a delightful location, house-made chai, and a bulletin board full of events.

Cute bakery/coffee shop. The food and espresso drinks were great. The gluten-free bundt was awesome and I appreciate they had good gluten-free options. The burrito was also really good. The seating seemed pretty limited, but it's a small space so I'm not sure they could do anything differently. My only issue with the experience was hair in the burrito wrapping and a hair on my bundt cake. We also saw a man pull a long hair out of his breakfast sandwich.
Known for its stunning desserts and a warm ambiance, this spot is a go-to for sweet lovers and those seeking a delightful treat experience.

They were able to get us a table in 15 minutes. The service was so friendly and helpful, especially on a busy Christmas weekend. Our food was amazing. My Croque Monsier (ham, gruyere, dijoninaise, grilled parmesan-crusted broche bread) was scrumptious. Our daughter, who is gluten-free, went with the Salmom Apple Salad (pan seared king salmon, mixed greens, gala apples, honey roasted pecans, fontina cheese, pomegranate, pumpkin seads, and apple maple vinegrette dressing) She said it was the best Salad she has ever had! My husband had the BBQ Brisket Sandwich (braised and smoked beef brisket, chipotle, clowslaw, grand central brioche bum, with fries) he ate the whole thing! It was delicious.
We shouldn't have, but we did have dessert. They shared the Cre'meux for two (flourless chocolate torte with toasted Italian meringue) and I had the Cherry Bomb ( chocolate cake, liquor soaked cherry center, chocolate glaze) with a cup of their home made Caramel ice cream. These were absolutely sinfully yummy! Definitely make a stop here. We will for sure!

Very beautiful location! I got a salad and a gluten free black forest cake---both very delicious. Fair prices for the food, and great for the high quality and taste of the items. Staff was very friendly, lots of sitting room, pretty environment and very clean.
The smoked salmon penne was excellent, everything else looked good as well.
Staff was friendly and efficient, we ordered at the window and the food was brought to the table just as we were finishing our very good Ceasar salad.
Whole wheat and gluten free options are available for a small upcharge.

I ordered the Maple Pecan Ring and OMG wow it was good; filo dough twisted and baked into a donut like ring, covered in pecan bits and maple sugar 😋 😌 not to mention the service was very good. Great spot for vegan and gluten fee options as well.

I always enjoy getting cookies from PDX Cookie. Previously, we have ordered the mystery 6 pack and while we aren't a gluten free household even those cookies were amazing. Tonight, we got the Storefront Mystery Pack and I can't wait to try all the goodies.

To my Organic/vegan/meal peppers, do not underestimate a good WinCo bulk run! This is where I start my shopping before moving up to higher end stores and hear me when I say inflation has hardly hit our household. And I always find I can get 90% of what I need (though stores vary by location in terms of organic produce). I start in the organic veg section and stock up to freeze and store the good greens for later use. Not to mention bulk mushrooms and cheap organic tofu (by a factor of $2-$3 per container my dude, for the exact same brand). Then I head to the bulk bins for beans, lentils, rice, gluten free chickpea pasta/oatmeal, nuts and seeds, fresh ground nut butter, and seasonings. The last thing I do is grab from the non dairy milk/creamer options, a Nancy's yogurt and pasture raised eggs ($5 yo). A fresh loaf of sourdough and maybe WinCo brand sparkling sodas and I'm good. It helps that we don't eat meat/alcohol/dairy milk and processed foods for cost savings. But those are not the people I'm writing to.

I’m a celiac and have to have gf meals. Nearly everything at Mehri’s is gluten free and they use very high quality ingredients. The creamy potatoes are unique and very tasty. Portions are generous. Enjoying breakfast on their patio with a mimosa…yep…what a great way to start your Portland day. Highly recommend and look forward to coming back. Good service and reasonable price…what are you waiting for?

Awesome place to have a great time. The food is delicious, gluten free menu options as well. The service is excellent and they are super friendly. It’s a must go!!!!
We order via Uber eats on a semi regular basis, and something is usually wrong. Almost no horseradish sauce on a cheese steak or making both sandwiches gluten free when only 1 should be. Slow down and listen, pay attention. Granted kids these are worthless if they have young workers.
Love this little cafe, good coffee, friendly staff and delicious breakfast sandwiches. Gluten-free available

The store offers a wide range of unique items and has a good selection of healthy meats in the freezer. I particularly enjoy the Ogia bread, which is the only kind I can eat because it is gluten-free and yeast-free.
Clean. Smiling clerks. Helpful stockers. Abundant choices. Many GF items. Full service pharmacy. Regular bakery with a few GF items in freezer next to bakery at end of dairy doors. My draw is their most excellent deli ham. I like it cut thin. They usually accommodate my requests but I've often felt clerks are new or unfamiliar with the job. Once or twice I've seen same person. If I didn't have to wait for them to get familiar with job each time they'd get a 5 star. I love the Black Forest smoked ham and mesquite turkey. Both are excellent on hot sandwiches or my personal fave, crepes. Prices are moderate. Sales frequent. Cheap lunches especially if gluten is no problem. Fountain drinks available and they have Starbucks. Lots of self check stations with clerks ready to help nearby. Usually fast line checkers, too. Driving from Willamette Blvd entry on Richmond Ave is easier to navigate rather than Ivanhoe. Buses stop nearby. Post Office is next door. Old review. Don't know why it didn't post. Pretty right on. Just pandemic has changed a lot. Mask on. Clerks subdued, I would be too. Not as cleaned as when pandemic first started. Holiday season is now. Past Thanksgiving, into Christmas.

Barista Shannon and Barista Baddie as they call her whipped up the best chai and bagel I’ve ever had. Not only was the food and drink delicious the people were kind. Also this lovely woman named Sarah dropped some informative information on the gluten science of the bagel and was very informative in picking a bagel flavor. I will be a sparrow customer for life

Just because your ex hated working here doesn’t mean you have to deprive yourself their cookies. Grand Central, hands down has the best gluten in the city. Their biscuits are life changing, their sandwiches are the best and the staff (minus my now ex) is exceptional. Whoever you are and wherever you live, go out of your way to stop in.
Definitely needs more gluten free dairy free options especially since it's a big community this close to Portland.. but on the plus side they do online ordering and delivery making life super easy!

Customer recommend this place. Could not have been better!! Service was awesome! The eggs were phenomenal, fresh and cooked perfectly! My smoothie was on point! Coolest little place you ever wanted to get cozy and read a book in! Smelled terrific too!
The crazy part is I went in for the coffee :))
The worst part is I went gluten free 16 months ago and it appeared I didn't get to indulge in what they did best!
If you go to Portland, treat yourself and hit Caffe Destino! Absolutely worth it!

I have celiac so I come here for the lattes and the gluten free soup. The miso tomato soup is so good, though I wish they would bring back the ginger carrot soup. It was so delicious! The black sesame maple latte is my fave, but all their drinks are great. The service is always exceptional and the ambience is really calm. It’s a great place to chill and enjoy some yummy coffee and food.
this wonderful little homey bakery opened up just down tabor hill from where i live at the end of e. hawthorne blvd. and I couldn't be happier. huge brick wood-fire ovens constantly filling the place smell of fresh baking bread, bright walls and windows, cardboard floors you have to be a little careful, not because they're naturally slippery, but because there is flour on them from all the baking done here. bread loaves to purchase or to eat there, great sandwiches from their fresh baked loaves and delicious soups. instead of quiche, a wonderful savory bread pudding for breakfast, and coffee that is always hot, fresh and portland strong. they are local bakers (you can watch them put the loaves into the wood fire ovens yourself) and are proud to be supplied by local farmers and grain growers. ignore all your portland hypochondriac friends fretting over wheat/gluten sensitivities, one bite from a fresh spelt loaf will have you feeling health coursing through your veins! “bread is agriculture” is their motto and amen to that, i say. also, free wifi. my few qualms might be wanting an egg sandwich for breakfast on the menu, or that they weren't closed on mondays & tuesdays - i know these hard working owners need days off, but those are prime work week times they could be catering to early commuters. but overall, a serendipitous find in southeast portland and worth the visit.
