Was so happy we found this place. As soon as we entered and told the hostess I was interested in ordering gluten free it was the best experience. She advised that some of the staff were either gluten intolerant or Celiac and they had a thorough understanding about cross contamination etc. We ordered fish and chips and they were amazing!!! .Having Celiac Disease I usually have a heightened sense of anxiety when eating out so when I find a place that makes you feel comfortable it kind of makes me feel a little emotional. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all but especially those with issues related to gluten.
A charming bakery and café with freshly made goodies, friendly vibes, and a great selection that keeps guests coming back for more.

REALLY great experience here. They had gluten free options, and the gluten free bread for my club was top two breads that I've tried. Customer service was off the charts, everyone treats you like a friend. The selection was great, drinks were good. Would recommend this place to anyone. They also have bread for sale and some merch. Little pricey, but it's worth it to support local!!
Discover a hidden gem where deliciously crafted dishes impress everyone, making it an exciting spot for both locals and visitors alike.

I was really impressed with this establishment and the fact that it was celiac friendly, especially for fast food. I had a delicious chicken club wrap and fries. The portion size was huge, it tasted great, and it was reasonably priced. The cook and waitress were very friendly. My friend and I went around lunchtime and it was busy, though I'm not surprised. 🙂 I will definitely be back here next time I'm in Truro!!

Best Smitty’s I have ever been to! The service and food is fantastic. I have a gluten allergy (celiac) and they have a specific gluten free menu along with options on the regular menu and have never gotten sick from the food ever!! They use different coloured plates for allergens, it’s very thoughtful.
Unique and flavorful dishes shine here, with a diverse menu and frozen meal options to enjoy at home, making it a local favorite!

Let me start by saying I knocked a star off for atmosphere because we were the only diners inside!!!
Rebecca and the team looked after us brilliantly. The food choice for gluten-free diners is really good and, for those of us that eat anything, I was in heaven!!
I failed to finish off the pizza crusts, as delicious and light as they were, as the bowl of seafood chowder I shared with my wife as a starter ended up 90% in my belly and I was a little full!! That chowder was better than any we'd ever tasted in the finest seafood restaurants in Boston or Seattle...
The pizza sauce on the Mediterranean Masterpiece (bold title, but it lived up to it) was deliciously full of depth and flavour and the distribution of toppings was perfect - every mouthful was a delight.
We are so happy we ate at Little Christo's tonight and just hope we get to eat there again in the future.

Wow, I am very impressed! The food was absolutely delicious and I already know what I will try next visit. I had the Ultimate Club with delicious Dragon fries and a blueberry blast smoothie. Food is 100% vegan and very fresh. Great atmosphere, and the ladies working were very friendly and helpful.
While I'm personally okay to eat gluten, they did have many gluten free options as well!
Quaint and cozy spot with a charming aesthetic and local crafts, perfect for grabbing a drink before visiting the nearby petting farm.

What a cute gem! I ordered the lavender london fog, home limonade and, deluxe veggie sandwich.
The drinks : 5/5 - the London fog was insanely good, the lavender syrup is so delicious
The veggie sandwich : 3/5 - sadly it was disappointing as it really missed something to make it more of a complete meal and more balanced flavours like hummus or veggie pâté or tofu spread. It was a toast with lettuce, tomatoes, shreded carrots, a small slice of cheese and a pickle on top. The veggies were kf high quality and very fresh. However, I was hungry 1 hour later 🥲 because of the lack of protein. (Note : mine was with gluten free bread which makes it extra dry)
But I still highly recommend this café for something other than the veggie sandwich. The gift shop is lovely.
Quaint spot with a cozy vibe, offering unique vegan delights and a good variety of choices, perfect for a casual lunch break.

Love this place. Just stopping in town for lunch and then coffee was great and I had a ham and Swiss sandwich with cranberry mayo that I can't stop thinking about. It had to right too be that good. They had gluten free bread for my girlfriend which was a big plus. Stopping there felt like a lucky find.
The layout of the place feels a little awkward at times. It maybe just because the place is a bit smaller.
A hidden gem worth stopping for, known for its tasty dishes, cozy atmosphere, and a vibe that keeps people coming back for more.

Food was delicious. Just landed today from Ireland and were on a way to lunenberg when we all suddenly were starving so we went into Vernon's. Loved it. I highly recommend the fried chicken and fries. YUMMY!!!! one of the two teenagers with me had mac n cheese and the other classic burger as well as milkshakes. There were stuffed after. I forced myself to have a gluten free cheesecake and I'm glad I did. It was gorgeous. Just under a 100 dollars for the 3 of us which I found reasonable. The food was gorgeous. I would seriously recommend to go there and try it. Might even go for round two when we are passing on way back to Halifax.

Asked if they had any gluten free items and they provided me with a separate menu of just gluten free items. I got fish cakes. I believe they also had a gluten free seafood chowder. Staff was nice. Outside patio is pretty small so we had to sit inside.

What a fantastic little cafe located in a beautiful little town. Just up from the water you’ll find the Kiwi Cafe!
As part of my Eggs Benedict Tour I’m currently on. You know what I ordered. And it was great! A little untraditional using ham and not peameal, but that’s forgivable as it tasted amazing!
The roasted potatoes as the side was great. They give you lots and they are well seasoned. I felt they could have been a little warmer, but I ate every crumb!
Easily part of the clean plate club!
I also grabbed a couple Gluten Free items from the front for a friend of mine!
Stop in, have a bite or get a coffee to go, you won’t be disappointed!

I went to this restaurant for a Deaf event. One of the servers new sign language and was able to serve the deaf people adequately and charismatically. As a gluten-free person, I had a delicious haddock taco and didn't feel the gluten-free options were any less delicious than the regular options! Prices are high, but fair for the overall experience. Will definitely be returning.
Enjoy a fresh, tasty sandwich experience with a variety of options, though the atmosphere could use a little sprucing up.

Really great food, also a bonus that everything is fresh. Friendly staff and tons of options for food, you even have the choice for gluten free. The only thing was that the atmosphere seemed a bit dated and maybe could have been a bit cleaner, but all in a good place to check out if you’re in the area.

As a person with celiac disease, it’s hard to come across safe places for me to eat. I was pleasantly surprised to find Vines come up suggested for gluten free options. I decided to check it out with a friend of mine for supper yesterday and felt the experience was above and beyond what I anticipated! They seemed knowledgeable when I asked about gluten containing items such as sauces, and double checked with the kitchen to make sure. Mostly everything on their menu is able to be modified to be celiac friendly. I had the Cajun fettuccine and it was so delicious and flavourful! Was also pleasantly surprised when then came out with some warm gluten free bread and butter as I was not expecting to be that accommodated at all. Also had their peach sangria and it was very very tasty! I will definitely be returning to try some other menu items and am happy to recommend to fellow celiacs ☺️

The interior is beautiful, romantic enough, cozy, but the light is too dim for me (but this is my subjective opinion).
Location - the restaurant is located in the down town, i.e. in the city center, which, unfortunately, means the absence of its own parking lot and you have to look for it, and it is paid even on weekends.
Food - not very many, in fact, menu items if we are talking about the main dishes. There are few gluten-free dishes, which, for example, was a problem for us. We had to order soup and salad because we have restrictions on the types of meat we can eat and therefore, actually, vegetarian soup is all we could order. It was delicious, I have no complaints, but it's still a pity that there is such a limited selection of gluten-free meat dishes.
We ordered tea and I liked that the tea cup was warm (despite the fact that it was empty), and the tea was served separately in a teapot).
Service - everything here was top notch, the girl who served us was as attentive as possible, she knew the menu and the composition of the dishes well, she could tell us what dishes we could order, taking into account the restrictions we had.
But still, I deducted one star. I was out of paper towels. As always, in the restaurant there is a cloth napkin in which the cutlery is wrapped and which we put on our laps when we eat, but I cannot wipe my lips, for example, with that napkin, for this I need paper ones, but they were not on the table and no one offered . This is my humble opinion, it was uncomfortable for me. Well, the shortcomings of the menu that I wrote about above also played a role in the evaluation.
And in general, I can recommend this place, we liked it.
With a cozy vibe and solid drink selections, this spot is perfect for families and offers a delightful stroll along the nearby waterfront.

I was looking for a great cup of coffee and a bite to eat and noticed the good reviews and gluten free options. Sadly, I found the coffee underwhelming - very weak and flavorless. My GF breakfast sandwich tasted good and was delivered to the table by very personable staff but I found it to be expensive, for what it was. I also had a GF/vegan macaroon but it tasted nothing like a macaroon. It was very odd tasting making me wonder what I was ingesting. 🫢 Lastly, I wished I had not gone to the washroom; it was surprisingly dirty and did not appear to have been cleaned in a long while, a real turn off to eating there again. I thought I would like the place based on the reviews but there were just too many negatives for me.

Absolute garbage. Used to love going to the Irving big stop. As so many people here have said, what on earth has happened. I'm celiac so I am used to paying extra and sometimes smaller portions, but this was pathetic. The gluten free menu is incredibly small, and it's not just the menu that's small. I had the clubhouse sandwich, gluten free. The food portions were incredibly small. 2 tiny pieces of bread, and way less chicken, bacon and cheese. It felt like I was eating a lunchable but paying $24 for it instead. Even the waitress told us it was pathetic and doesn't even come with the 3 pieces of bread the usual one does. Of course this after we got the bill, I wasn't forewarned. I was charged $3.50 more for the gluten free bread and another $2 for gluten free gravy. And I'm pretty sure the lose of chicken and bacon more than makes up for the cost of gluten free bread. Originally it came with the baked fries, but I asked to have the fried ones instead. Some cross contamination doesn't bother me. So the baked ones came out and I had said I asked for the fried ones, so the waitress took the baked ones back and the portion of fried ones was incredibly small as well. One of the worst meals I have ever had in any restaurant, and definitely THE worst one for a big stop.
But wait... There's more!!! My wife had the pan friend haddock. She is not celiac. We saw after we ate, that someone on here had posted that the pan fried haddock was terrible and super small. The reply was that they would talk to their distributor. They certainly did not. It was two very small pieces of fish, that looked as if they had come from a fish stick box.
I will say that my daughter did enjoy her dinner, the baked Mac and cheese.
Honestly we were really looking forward to eating at the big stop since it has been so long. It was just the worst. Definitely lost customers on this one, and I will be telling everyone we know to avoid it. Overpriced and terrible.

Nice little restaurant with a small patio overlooking the harbour.
Since it was very busy we did not get a patio space but sat indoors, still a bit of view.
Very friendly staff!
The food was good, we had some desserts as well, also one in gluten free.
I would have loved fries with the fish....
And it would be great if breakfast hours would be longer.

I placed a catering order for my office. The food was very good, no issues there. I ordered and PAID for gluten free pita which I did not receive. When I brought this to the attention of the restaurant I was told we will make sure you get it next time. Sadly this is not something that my office does often so next would likely not be until next year. I was very disappointed with this response. Honestly I likely would not have left this review but the restaurant asked for a review so Im going to be honest and say that I was not overly happy with this order.

I can't speak to the rooms because we didn't stay there, however apparently the all have a seaside view.
The restaurant was exceptional and has a separate gluten free menu. This place is deceiving due to the fact that from the road, it looks small, but inside is very big. I told the waitress I had celiac disease and needed to make sure my meal was gluten free and was assured that was no problem. It was brought out separately to me and everything we ordered was top notch in my opinion.
