I was looking for a place with gluten-free food on my birthday. The first place I visited ignored me completely, and I left feeling disappointed and unwelcome.
Then I walked into The Cornish Deli — and everything changed. The cozy interior, with its traditional Cornish charm, immediately lifted my spirits. It felt warm, authentic, and inviting.
There was only one person behind the bar, and I want to say a heartfelt thank you to him. He greeted us with genuine kindness and made us feel so welcome. Thanks to him, my birthday turned around completely.
My gluten-free crab sandwich was absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The seasoned fries and delicious drink made it even more perfect.

On a day trip by coach, I didn't have much time to wander around looking for somewhere for lunch, as I have Coeliac disease and need to eat Gluten Free, so I looked at Google reviews and found this gem. While exploring St. Ives Harbour, after a Googling for sea food place, we stumbled upon a hidden gem: Porthminster Kitchen. This charming restaurant, though not immediately noticeable, offers a delightful culinary experience.
The restaurant's interior is modern with a beautiful designed old wood frammed fireplace that creates a relaxed dining atmosphere.
However, the entrance to the second floor dining area could be better marked to attract more guests.
Food:
The menu at Porthminster Kitchen features a creative and diverse selection of dishes. We started with the Korean Fried Cauliflower and a custom salad, both beautifully presented and bursting with flavor.
For our mains, we had the Roasted Hake Fillet and the Whole Cornish Sole, which were cooked to perfection and showcased the freshness of the ingredients.
To finish, the Crispy Rice Pudin with Coconut Sorbet was a delightful and refreshing dessert, particularly appealing to vegan and gluten-free diners.
