They got us seated right away. Excellent server who helped accommodate some requests. (We asked if mocktail versions of a couple cocktails were possible. We came during a quieter time, so they were able to accommodate us - I imagine that would be harder to do at a busier time.) The (Neat and Classic) burgers were very good. One of us needed to order the non-dairy (vegan) cheese and gluten-free bun, so it was awesome that both substitutions were available (and tasty!). I'd also recommend the crispy brussels sprout appetizer and the gluten free cheesecake!

If I could give 10 stars I would. We were a party of 6 celebrating my son's birthday. I have celiac disease and have not ate at a regular restaurant in 4 years, I have stuck to eating at 100% gluten free restaurants because of the risk of cross contamination. A lot of restaurants list gluten free items, but then use the same cook tops, pans, ect ect, so now it is no longer gluten free. I emailed the restaurant in advance and asked if they would be able to accommodate me, and what precautions they take. Wow they were great. The manager didn't make me feel bad, or like I was being dramatic for asking questions. The staff were so knowledgeable regarding my disease restrictions and cross contamination. As soon as I got there the manager said we have all hands on deck in the kitchen and they are all aware of your restrictions. It was so refreshing to be treated well and not like a "Karen". The food was absolutely amazing! All 6 of us were very happy and full when we left. Thank you for everything. It was nice to have a meal out with my family. We will be back many times!!!

The Salty Chef's restaurant is a great family friendly feel place to eat! There's a section of the restaurant that is set up like a dining room table area. It makes you feel right at home! My husband LOVED his bacon blue burger. I have celiac disease and this facility is not a dedicated gluten-free, HOWEVER, the husband & wife owners were very knowledgeable of how to accommodate my gluten-free dietary needs. I ordered a cup of Vegan Carrot Ginger soup & Salty Chefs Salmon Cobb Salad. Both were SO delicious! I can't leave out the amazing warm gluten-free brownie topped with homemade fresh fruit compote that I took to go! This is a MUST try place! You will not be disappointed! They are good here. I have to eat gluten free which is hard in places like this. They don't have gf bread or pancakes like IHOP. They had turkey bacon which I appreciate being allergic to pork and the Waitress was super sweet and knew gf and said the hashbrowns were ok and the bacon was listed Gf. I originally thought the dough hadn't been mixed enough, but when I complained I was told "that must be the sugar cubes." I've had liege waffles before and typically the sugar chunks are much smaller, not the size of a pea. And normally sugar is sweet. It's a shame because the toppings on my waffle were great and it's so good to see gluten free options. I just don't think the sugar chunks work with the gluten free mix they use.

TLDR: I wish I could comment on the food, but we never received it. They canceled our online order without telling us!
My partner and I traveled to Buffalo this weekend for a wedding. Traveling can be challenging because she has celiac disease. We found Owl Eyes Cafe and were so excited about the gluten free options. We placed the order online for pickup with an approximate time 45 minutes from when we placed it. As an aside, I called the restaurant 3 times before placing to make sure there were no nuts in the food. They never answered.
When I arrive to the restaurant, the staff told me they canceled our food order. They ran out of gluten free rolls, so they didn't make it. Which seems reasonable. They didn't make my breakfast sandwich because "the kitchen was confused and didn't want to make the wrong thing."
The obvious problem is 0% communication. They canceled the food order online without ever notifying us. The website says we would receive text updates, but I never did. It seems like basic decency to call. I took an Uber to get there and an Uber back. I wish we would've known.
