Best Smitty’s I have ever been to! The service and food is fantastic. I have a gluten allergy (celiac) and they have a specific gluten free menu along with options on the regular menu and have never gotten sick from the food ever!! They use different coloured plates for allergens, it’s very thoughtful.

I had been to Side Hustle before twice and had such a lovely experience.
So I’m not thrilled to write this. But feel the need to share as I am concerned about what happened to me.
I popped into eat some lunch during burger week, and they only had a burger week menu. Really nothing else on it. Which as a small place I guess is expected.
I was about to head out, and the server recommended the Thai chilli chicken, and I said I can’t eat really spicy food. I then asked if the gluten free Thai chilli chicken could be made less spicy as it was the ONLY thing on the menu that wasn’t beef, or tofu that could be made gluten free.
The server said yes - the kitchen could not add the spicy chili jam to the burger. And I was like great I’ll have that.
The burger came out, everything looked good.
3 bites in and I can barely breathe.
They included the spicy chili jam, and as someone who can’t do super spicy items I nearly choked in the restaurant. It was quite embarrassing actually, I was coughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face. Made worse by how echoey the bar is itself.
The server finally came by after I was coughing for several minutes and I told him there is spicy chili jam on this. He says he will get them to remake it.
I had gotten nauseous from coughing so hard I don’t even want to eat more of the food that isn’t spicy (aka the fries I paid extra for)… So I just say no, thanks. You can take it. I had only eaten a handful of fries and a couple bites of the burger.
It was pretty bad, I was pretty embarrassed.
And I wasn’t even finished my cider before the bill was handed to me.
They charged me for 50% of the meal, burger and fries even though I didn’t eat most of it.
I likely should have said something to the server however I was already embarrassed from coughing so loudly.
I likely will take a second thought before heading back as everything is expensive now, and I’d like to eat what I pay for.

Oh my. Such a wonderful experience. I despise being gluten-free and find it embarrassing to have to ask for options. Cassandra was so accommodating, and in short order, the manager was at the table, explaining things to me.
The result was fantastic food. It was our wedding anniversary as well as my husband's birthday. So happy we chose to celebrate there. Thank you so very much. All of you. Oh, and the jalapeño margaritas? An absolute must have!!

This was a go-to staple for my fiancé and I whenever we were in the area, but it has left us disappointed the last few visits. The first five or six times we visited our visit was a 5/5. The food was great! The staff were perfect. But in the last 6 months or so, it has been a 2 maybe 3/5 stars...
Not sure if there was a shift in the kitchen, or what happened, but, being gluten free, I have been not been convinced I have actually gotten an entirely gluten free meal. I never had an issue with the wings before, and they always looked to be GF. But the last two times we visited, the staff seemed to be absolutely confident that the wings are GF, but after I've eaten them, I've felt sick afterwards. I hoped it was just a one off so I gave them a second chance, but, now I regret that.
My fiancé was also disappointed by his own meal (the tostadas) this last time we came by. He mentioned they were damp, and the entire bowl fell apart in his hand. Since this was one of our favourites, we are deeply saddened to see this place disappoint us.

On vaycay from Vancouver B.C. doing the walk about at Pier21 and stopped into The BG.
Beautiful location, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Huge beverage menu!!
As celiac, it's challenging to find some safe eats away from home. I ordered the gf option Lobster Roll & fries and oh my lord.... fantastic 😋
Thanks for being aware of dietary restrictions for some 🥳
If I'm ever back out this way, will definitely come back.

I absolutely love the crobster roll from the Canteen. The seafood tastes really fresh and every time I've been there, the servers have been friendly and nice. I've ordered the crobster roll both with the regular bread and the gluten free bun - and I feel like less seafood is given in the gluten free bun (it's a hamburger bun instead of bread slice). Overall, I'd love to come back next time I'm in Dartmouth and I would advise making a reservation beforehand as it's usually quite busy.
A must-visit for its amazing homemade dishes and vibrant kitchen party nights that showcase local talent—truly an unforgettable experience!

We came to the east coast this fall for an anniversary trip and this restaurant was by far the highlight. Friendly service, excellent homemade food, and the best lobster roll of the whole trip. Plenty of celiac/ gluten free options (including the above mentioned lobster roll!). We ate here 3 times in a week. I don't know if its a usual event, but they also had a live 'kitchen party' style open mic night that had some impressive talent.
Nostalgic diner vibe with a mix of classic eats, generous portions, and plenty of options to satisfy any craving.

Nostalgic diner with eat in or take out options. Sweet potato fries to onion rings, gluten free buns, burgers, fried clams, fried haddock, hot dogs, milkshakes, lots of flavours lots of different portion sizes, if your hungry this place can help.
This is a go too for my partner and I. My partner is gluten intolerant (allergy) and they have one of his preferred gf bums. They make an amazing gluten free patty too (according to him) and he is super picky so getting to choose his toppings vs saying what he doesn't want is more convenient.
I personally am a huge fan of the burritos and alternate between the chicken and the veggie (quacamole). The portions are super generous so I get the smallest burritos and am generally full. They also have a mango sour cream which is a treat.
I have had the regular poutine which is great but my plan i to try the perogy one next.
The staff here are always super friendly so that is a great experience!
Dickie-Baxter is the latest gem on the what-to-do-in-The-Valley scene. We've been three times and three times, we were wowed by the beautifully presented and wildly delicious offerings of Chef Wayne and Sous-Chef Tammy.
All servers, Nate, Katrina, and owners, Clare and Dom are warm, friendly and attentive. And a nice touch, Chef Wayne comes to the table to see how you're enjoying and to personally thank you for coming in.
Food is healthy and yummy and there's plenty for gluten-free and vegetarian diners. January and February are tough times for restaurants, so please do what you can to keep this wonderful new establishment open and serving our community. If you're staying away from restaurants these days, Dickie-Baxter does take out!
