Comedor in downtown Austin blew us away when we visited earlier this year! The modern Mexican cuisine is nothing short of a culinary adventure, with flavors that dance on your palate. As someone who's gluten-free, I was amazed to discover that the entire menu is gluten-free—this truly blew my mind! Chef Philip Speer's creativity shines through in every dish. The atmosphere is a beautiful blend of chic design and warmth, making it the perfect setting for a memorable meal. The service was friendly and attentive, making us feel truly special. Mr. Natural has been doing veg in Austin since 1988 and it was honestly refreshing to visit a vegetarian spot that harkened back to a time when the dining format was as unique in a veggie restaurant as it was to find one at all. Point being there is a little learning curve to dining at Mr. Natural in my opinion. You order at the counter, which is the same order spot for baked goods (which are in three different locations), take out, dine in, juice, grab n go or soft serve. So you need to know what you want (definitely preview the menu online) before you step up to the counter and what your objective is. The staff is very, very helpful and will explain the salad bar (which is a whole other thing) and the validated parking situation (which is another). If you get stuff to dine-in, staff will bring it out and call out your name. They will bring silverware but you are on your own to retrieve water (by the salad bar). The other interesting throwback I am more thankful for is the food. Almost everything is made in house and is not overly sweet or salty. In this day and age of frozen beyond burger restaurants I could not have been happier. The mole enchiladas were excellent and I bought waaaay too many baked goods to go. I did not realize beforehand that Mr. Natural had the widest and best selection of vegan baked goods in the Austin area with many gluten free options and beautiful custom cakes! This place will go in my regular rotation and I highly recommend it for a breakfast option. *dog friendly patio

Food was phenomenal. In our group we also had a person from Mexico and one from Colombia and they also raved about the food. We had the tacos, flautas, quesadilla and caesar and all were amazing (and gluten free!) We wound up accidentally leaving something at our table and the staff were so quick to message me via OpenTable, where we made the reservation, to let me know. Highly recommend!

I love this place and that they use healthier ingredients in their pizza. They use organic wheat for their crust, usually I have to eat gluten free but I am able to eat their crust. They also use olive oil which is much healthier the than the cheaper synthetic oils many restaurants use. I love pesto and their vegetarian pesto pizza is amazing! I also really enjoy their tomato sauce when I get a regular veggie pizza and like to add pineapple to it. Their custom cheese blend is great too!

Had the enchiladas, so good! They don't have flour tortillas, only corn. So lots of gluten free options! If you are a baby with spice, the salsa is spicy, lol. Drinks were good. We went on a Friday around 6pm and were able to be sat right away for two people.

They have an entire vegan menu and gluten-free menu! I had the Enchiladas de Verduras (veggie filling) and it was delish. If you’re plant-based, vegan, nutrition-forward or whole food plant based, Gueros is a great option. Perfect location in an active part of town, great service, delicious food.

The best tacos in Austin. The mashed potatoes (papas, as they call them) in tacos are a genius idea! I almost always get the breakfast tacos, but there is a huge selection of lunch offerings as well. They boast a large salsa selection and you can tell they put thought into their salsa offerings (rather than the one variety of salsa many places offer). Their queso is solid, but not a menu highlight. If you have dietary restrictions like vegetarian or gluten free (or both like I do!), this is a great place to go, because there are so many choices; it is also a great place to go with friends as there is something for everyone. The one downside is that the tacos are small, especially for corn tortillas, which means you have to buy one extra than you would normally buy at other places (which is not a problem necessarily, but just something to bear in mind when ordering).

Taco Deli is an Austin staple for our family. Their staff are friendly and offer amazing service. We love their tacos especially the Borracho Carnitas and Mojo Salmon. Best quacamole hands down and their veggie white rice is our children’s favorite. We appreciate the build your own breakfast taco option and the food allergy sensitivity (we are sensitive to dairy and gluten). Above all the salsa, especially the salsa Dona will always keep us coming back. There are many great taco places in Austin, but Taco deli takes the cake for us!

As someone with celiac, finding great gluten-free options can be a challenge, but TacoDeli on Slaughter makes it easy! They have an impressive variety of gluten-free choices that are both safe and delicious. One of my favorites is the Space Cowboy - it has a perfect kick and is loaded with savory mushrooms. The Pollo en Mole is another standout, with its rich and flavorful sauce. And, of course, you can't go wrong with their chips and queso; they're simply irresistible. My only gripe is that the frozen margarita machine seems to be down a bit too often. But when it's working, it's the perfect complement to their fantastic food. Highly recommend TacoDeli for anyone looking for delicious, gluten-free Mexican fare!

Fresa’s had a really flexible, affordable group dining / event packages that made our rehearsal dinner / welcome party combo a huge success! We were able to host a rehearsal dinner from 5:30-8pm for 100 people and have it flow directly into a welcome party for all 180 guests from 8pm-10pm. Having both events at one location made it really low stress. Their bar package for the whole night helped us stay on budget while providing an “open bar” to all guests all night. They were really great at working with us and our planner to achieve the look we wanted, use the plates we liked, re-arrange the tables, and help come up with a rain plan (we did full buyout so we could have access to the indoor restaurant / covered balcony seating in the event of poor weather). We lucked out with amazing weather and it was overall a perfect evening under their string lights and patio. Note: the city of austin live music permit ended up being more expensive than we anticipated. It may be worth skipping the live music and just doing speeches with a microphone and playing music over their sound system which would not require a music sound permit. The food tasted really great and they were able to serve things family style so we could do speeches during dinner without guests getting up for food. Service was awesome. They even accommodated vegan and gluten free options. Thanks so much Fresas team!

We came in a Friday night in time to catch happy hour, which was a great discount on cocktails and appetizers. The food is lovingly crafted, delicious, beautiful entrees that is traditional. Because the menu is mostly gluten free, there were several options for my gluten free companion. Highly recommend for a lovely night out!

I did not expect a taco place to have such a delicious well thought out salad! It's a great gluten free and potentially paleo friendly option if you need to also avoid corn and dairy. Unfortunately, the tall corner tables were perpetually dirty as the varnish is degrading leaving them sticky and gross. Please get rid of these tables or resurface them in some way!

My favorite restaurant in Austin!! Been going here since I was in a highchair. Seating is remarkably fast for how packed this place always is. Food is incredibly consistent, and it happens that you have any problems with your order they'll make it again for you fast, and with no questions asked. Beautiful atmosphere, history all over the walls, team members & customers always smiling. Drinks are strong, and you will never leave hungry. Same-day-made complementary chips and spicy table salsa. Try not to fill up on chips if you can help it, because entree and appetizers are both all a LOT of food. I usually leave with leftovers that turn into a beautiful breakfast the next day. Personal favorite appetizer: Bob Armstrong Queso Dip. They just recently won a Best-In-Austin award for their queso dips, which is saying something. Personal favorite signature cocktail: Matt's Knockout Martini. As the name suggests, referencing the founder's professional boxing career, this is a POWERFUL drink. They don't let you have more than two of them. A one-two punch of these can really get to you, but it's tough to stop drinking it because it's so delicious. Be careful! Personal favorite entree: Janie's Combination Salad. A gorgeous dinner salad topped with your choice of protein and dressing, but I always go with the Beef Fajita and only-found-here Cilantro Vinaigrette. This one is a terrific decision for those of us trying to avoid carbs, too. You can get a drink and a dinner for $30 here, which is very refreshing in the big city that Austin has become. I always take my friends & family here that come from out of town. They also have vegetarian and gluten-free options, which is great. Remarkable service. Employees all seem happy to be here, which is very refreshing as well in the current economic climate. Managers seem to know all of their customers by name, which is a cool thing to watch in a restaurant that's been around for 70+ years. Five stars. Come to Matt's if you've never checked it out.

I needed to feed five people on short notice, and some of them have food allergies. Chuy’s fajita pack is usually my move, but today I learned their fajitas are not strictly gluten free, so I headed to Lupe. It was ready in under 30 minutes, and I didn’t have to coordinate five different take out orders. I really appreciated the gent at the to-go station talking me through the ingredients and making sure certain things were packaged separately. My dad takes fajitas real seriously, and he said the meat was excellent.

Fresh, gourmet dishes. Had a member of our party with celiac and all the wait staff are very knowledgeable about gluten free options. Each time a plate was set down, they mentioned what is and isn't gluten free which was a relief for the reassurance. Lots of fun mocktail and NA options.

Good Tex-Mex is hard to find in Austin these days! The food at Mama Betty's is amazing, the service is great, and they have gluten free options. The GF cheese enchiladas are hands-down the best I've found in Austin.
