Quirky spot with a cozy vibe, great ambiance, and a nice playlist, but it's in desperate need of a deep clean.

This is a 100% GF bakery and coffee shop. I was so excited to get a cinnamon roll! I wish I had gotten a blueberry muffin to go! Next time for sure! They also have a restaurant down the street! They only take cash or AMEX so be prepared.

Came to Friedmans on W 72nd with my friend Jess and we had such a great time! The vibe was super warm and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. I ordered the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and Jess got the shakshuka both were amazing. You can tell they really care about quality ingredients, and the gluten-free options were a huge bonus. We weren’t rushed at all and got to just hang out and catch up over great food. Definitely adding this to our regular brunch rotation!
This spot is a game changer with delicious cakes, pancakes, and bagels that everyone raves about, plus amazing vegan options to satisfy all!

We traveled from NC to visit family on LI. With two celiacs it’s always scary to travel and known where you can safely eat. This is a celiacs heaven. From the bagels to the vegan muffin options, we had a delicious and better yet safe to watch breakfast! We will definitely be going again before we leave.
Charming and unpretentious, this classic diner offers a fantastic menu with generous portions, perfect for a cozy meal in New York.

Standard diner fare, but with gluten free options! The first thing the hostess asked us, was if anyone needed a gluten free menu. They have a dedicated fryers. My daughter enjoyed her meal.

We have an extremely wonderful time every time we go. No matter if it's busy or a little slow, the servers are always cheerful, helpful, patient. We look forward to seeing everybody when we go. They truly do have the best staff. I've had a great experience with every single one of them. The food is amazing and I love the home made jam! We make sure to come as often as we can. It is very diet friendly, to those who are gluten free, lactose, diabetic. There's enough to choose from for everybody. Highly recommend this especially if you can't find restaurants that cater to food allergies, this one absolutely can!
This spot offers a bright, spacious vibe with a unique menu of fresh, beautifully presented vegan dishes that wow both health fans and casual diners alike.

The service is 10/10 and the cafe is cute but the food is quite bad and overpriced. Almost $30 for a NASTY lasagna with zero sides. Smoothies start at like $12 dollars. The cupcake was edible but not something I would reorder. If you’re gluten free and this is your only option, you will be sad. If you aren’t gluten free and just trying to watch what you eat, please try somewhere else. The food is bland and doesn’t taste like anything. There are plenty of other vegan restaurants that are cheaper and taste much better. I feel terrible because the service was so good but i just can’t do this again.
A cozy spot perfect for breakfast with a welcoming vibe, tempting menu, and a loyal following that keeps folks coming back for more!

This place is the best! Such a small town diner feel where everyone knows each other. The staff was super friendly. They are very accommodating for gluten free items and even have a protocol in place for celiac/severe gf allergy. Highly recommend!

This restaurant is dangerous for people with gluten allergies. The waitress was not knowledgeable about gluten on the menu. She was very rude and short as soon as my party told her that one of us has an allergy. She said the person could have a salad but nothing else, and they don’t have gluten free bread. Even if that wasn’t true, after that initial encounter we decided to leave.
This spot is a must-visit for those craving an impressive variety of gluten-free options, with a cozy vibe that makes every meal enjoyable.

Always service with a smile here. They have all the traditional favorites diners are known for. Their cheesecakes are made in house by his staff. Outstanding. The gluten free cheesecake is a special treat my daughter loves. The owner takes pride in ordering top quality foods, like the bacon he has. I like my bacon crispy, and unlike most places, ordering it crispy or well done results in you actually getting crispy well done, flavorful bacon. The owner is involved in the community. His staff prepares meals several days each week for a non profit that delivers them to local people that need the support. He is involved in coaching kids athletic teams, his wife is involved with a local PTA. 14 years ago, my family survived a late night fire that destroyed our home. We had been customers at another diner in the area that he managed at the time. I lost my wallet , atm cards etc in the fire . He gave a neighbor a gift card for us. At the time he didn’t even know my name . When we got a ride to his diner that morning to get our breakfast , I apologized for not having cash, and told him I only had the gift card. He was stunned, saying “that was your house?” He fed my family for three weeks before he would even let me use the gift card. That is the testament to the character of the owner and his wife. I eat here several times a week, and enjoy every meal.
Update: I still love eating here. Great food. Great people !!!
With a bright vibe and a focus on organic, healthy options, this spot is perfect for mindful eating and working with your laptop.

This may our new favorite restaurant in the NYC!! In a city that is increasingly vegan-friendly but that won’t stop assaulting us with deep-fried mushrooms and buffalo cauliflower, Spring Cafe Aspen sets themselves apart by serving up vegetable-forward dishes that are healthy, delicious, and generously portioned.
First, the health-conscious aspect. We came across them on a (very short) list of seed oil-free restaurants. Their website says they are free of “inflammatory oils.” Very little of their food is fried or highly processed. They use whole/sprouted grains in their wraps/bread, as well as having gluten-free options. It’s next to impossible to find restaurants in NYC or anywhere that accommodate a whole foods/plant-based diet, and even harder to find staff knowledgeable about the ingredients of their food. At Spring Cafe Aspen, the staff actually knows the ingredients of each dish and are very accommodating of questions and preferences, such as my wish to avoid coconut oil. If they don’t know the answer to a question, they have access to the ingredient lists for everything.
Next, the flavor of the food. Despite being low in oil and free of overly processed ingredients, their food is delicious! Our favorite item so far has been the cauliflower risotto (warm, comforting, creamy and rich; packed with vegetables and flavor). Our other favorite is the lentil meatballs and spaghetti (incredible meatballs, excellent sauce full of basil, and pasta you would have no idea is made with brown rice). We also enjoyed the superhero tofu burrito and the blueberry pancakes. The menu is full of great tidbits such as the epic cashew mac and cheese and the tempeh that is raw and locally sourced (Barry’s).
The portions - while other vegan/vegetarian restaurants in New York are serving up portions that get smaller every year, Spring Cafe Aspen actually provides generous portions that will nourish you without going overboard. (You won’t go home hungry after eating the cauliflower risotto!)
It’s also worth mentioning that the vibe of Spring Cafe Aspen is a little different from the typical hippie or hipster flair of many other vegan/vegetarian restaurants in the city. The vibe hovers somewhere between hot yoga studio and business school seminar. Also slightly confusing is the setup - they have all the makings of a sit-down restaurant right down to cloth napkins, but they do not truly have table service. You wait in line to order and then bring a number to your table. Makes it harder to enjoy a cup of coffee or spontaneous turmeric latte after lunch, but definitely not a dealbreaker. Lastly, we initially wondered why they didn’t take the plunge and turn fully vegan, but when we saw the gusto with which workout couples were demolishing egg white omelettes, we understood. Overall not a real issue for us since they make the food with such care that we aren’t really worried about any stray goat cheese getting into our food by mistake. And the attention to detail in their homemade condiments like vegan sour cream and even homemade nut milk rivals that of any vegan restaurant.
In conclusion, this is an epic brunch spot whipping up healthy food that manages to be both comforting and innovative; they have already become one of our regular spots.
Charming spot with a cozy vibe, offering a variety of menu choices and a lovely location perfect for a stroll after your visit.

Charming ambience with some solid diner food. Really appreciate the effort the staff makes here to make the experience memorable. Food is what you would expect at a diner with lots of menu options to choose from. They even have vegetarian and gluten free options. Nothing that will blow your mind but it won't disappoint either. I got the chicken club sandwich and a chocolate shake. Delicious and very filling. My wife got an Irish Benedict and her niece for two mini burgers and fries with a shake. Altogether it was $80 before tip. A bit expensive for what a diner should cost but given the location it's to be expected. After dinner we took a nice walk around the square. Beautiful area for a date night.

This is my favorite casual gluten free breakfast in Brooklyn. The staff is aware of allergies, the gf pancakes are so solid, and there are so many options. Everything is good and there is a real sense of nutritional intentionality behind the menu. I have celiacs and have never gotten sick here, even while ordering it online for

My husband and I love the food here because it's delicious and homemade! The biggest plus is that they make homemade gluten free bread! So if you need to eat gluten free, they have toast, French toast, and sandwiches all made with fresh, homemade, gluten free bread! They also make gluten free pancakes!
They have a cute little gift shop on the side of the restaurant and you can buy some of the baked goods they make over there too! We live in Jamestown and it's worth the trip! My in- laws love it too!

To my wife's disappointment the place we wanted to go this morning was closed, so my daughter recommended we try this place. We were greeted upon entering and luckily our party of 4 were seated immediately. I didn't get any fancy coffee but my regular coffee exceeded expectations. My one daughter enjoyed the gluten free pancakes, and the other a Hawaiian quesadilla. My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic eggs Benedict dish. The staff was so friendly, the place very clean and a nice aesthetic. Definitely worth it all around. We will be back again very soon.

I absolutely love this place. The menu online doesn't say anything about gluten free options but they can make anything gluten free. Most of the time gluten free stuff is like sad tortillas but they are like fluffy pancakes. You can hardly tell the difference. Would definitely recommend they have many options for breakfast

The food at vegan grill was amazing and very filling! I made my own bowl and the portion was huge, which I was not expecting. The menu is extensive and even has some gluten free, nut free and soy free options.
