Would not be writing this review had the email of the owner I was provided worked (get the feeling I was given the wrong email intentionally).
The Service and Quality of Food have declined SIGNIFICANTLY!
Will however point out the COMEDY - EXCEPTIONAL!!! A waitress told a customer: "Eggs have Gluten!" The grains fed to the chickens actually is broken down entirely and not present in the egg. I would have paid hundreds if not thousands to have a video of this interaction to be able to repost/share!
A lively spot with a bustling atmosphere, offering delicious sushi and a unique experience, though could be a bit cramped and pricey.

First time at Billy’s and we definitely enjoyed ourselves!
Food was very good but it’s pretty spendy. The experience is lacking for me. With price that high I kinda expected the experience would match the price point. It’s loud and tables are pretty snug.
I am gluten free and would recommend the NOLO sushi roll.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating!
Overall we had a good time and would eat here again!
Dress- all over the place. I thought it was fancy but I felt over dressed.
Cozy vibes and beautiful dishes make for a perfect after-work escape, with a knowledgeable team and a happy hour that’s hard to resist!

Very GLUTEN-FREE/ DAIRY-FREE friendly! I visited September 7th after work and enjoyed the happy hour menu. Everything was as beautiful as it was scrumptious! I had sushi and the fried chicken and hot sake. I also ordered 1 serving of Uni. It was the perfect after-work treat! I highly recommend this gem. The server/bartender was very knowledgeable about the menu and a cheery, helpful attitude. I will 100% be back as often as I can. Nice portions, delicious sushi!

Julia went out of her way to find someone to check on gluten free cinnamon donuts for me. I really appreciate her help! This was the only place I could find this brand. Everyone has always been so friendly and they know what customer service should look like! Thank you!
Authentic Tibetan momos and a huge sushi menu make this spot a local favorite, with cozy indoor and outdoor seating and free parking.

Our favorite sushi place. A family member has Celiac and MOMO has always been safe with the gluten free portion of our order which speaks to how they handle all their food. Service has always been good too. Keep up the great work!
Beware of the women's bathroom status while you enjoy the full-to-the-brim, phenomenal, flavor-packed bowls in a healthy environment.

We go here at least once a month. My kids have Celiac and they are so good about wiping things down, changing gloves and double checking that things are gluten free. We really appreciate the effort they take to keep them safe!
Fantastic service and food! I have to be completely gluten free, and they accommodated this and answered all of my questions. The sushi and the kimchi were wonderful! I've been craving the kimchi ever since. It's the best I've ever had! We don't go to Rochester often but when we do, we'll eat here again!
Simply the best sushi in the Twin Cities!! Absolutely phenomenal presentation and delicious flavors. Every roll I've tried of theirs is delicious. Not to mention, most of their sushi can be made gluten free, and they also offer gluten free soy sauce. Their Philly roll is made with crunchy cucumber instead of avocado, it's a unique twist and it's really good! Their weekday lunch special is an incredible deal. My personal favorite is the Sushi Lunch, you get 2 orders of sushi (12 rolls) and miso soup for $8.95! Not only do they have delicious sushi, they also have excellent hibachi meals and sides which are great options for kids (noodles, fried rice, side of chicken, white rice, salmon, steak, etc). The atmosphere is intimate and comfortable, perfect for a lunch date or a family night out. Highly recommended!!

Had the best experience here. Raw fish was very fresh. We had a few different rolls and they were all good. Very good service too. Server was very knowledgeable about ingredients. We were gluten and dairy free and he knew exactly what items had those ingredients and what we could and couldn’t have.
A local gem for sushi lovers, known for swift takeout and a reliable selection that never disappoints.

Hajime is my go-to local sushi place. They have all the usual sushi fare with the addition of a number of gluten-free options for those who may have gluten allergies. Prices are reasonable and the service staff is friendly.
This spot offers a welcoming vibe and stands out for its clear menu markings and attentive service, perfect for those with dietary preferences.

I love this place! I am gluten free, and the menu is clearly marked. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and they make sure to double check that your order is GF. I am just gluten intolerant, and I have had no reaction to their food. I could see some potential for cross contamination, so celiac beware, but knowing how knowledgeable and kind the staff is surrounding the issue, I wouldn't be scared to give it a try.
I love the coconut shrimp and the honey chicken, and my partner who is also gluten intolerant loves the fried rice!
Enjoy a fantastic ambiance with no distractions for date night, plus a vibrant bar area if you want to catch the game while dining!

0/10 do not recommend. I ordered ramen and my friend ordered sushi. The sushi looked like somebody just rolled rice with nothing in the middle and the pieces were HUGE. The ramen base was extremely salty and very dark, mushrooms were slimy and rubbery, the pork belly was ok at best, on top of that the water tasted like cleaner. Learned lesson , if anything on a sign says "American Cuisine" with hibachi and sushi, turn your car around. This was probably the worst food I've ever had at any establishment, and I'm not one to complain or turn things away. We tried their gluten free lava cake thinking it would give this establishment some redeeming qualities, it didn't and left a bad after taste, and almost had a rubbery texture.
The best part of the experience was our waiter, she was very understanding and extremely kind when we explained our food was bad and even offered to replace it, but we had had enough, please save yourself $30-$50 and either eat at home or go literally anywhere else.
Enjoy a vibrant atmosphere with fresh, artfully prepared dishes and a knowledgeable crew ready to enhance your experience.

This is a pretty good sushi place. Waitress was super nice and they have any outdoor seating area which is great for late summer dinners. They have gluten free soy sauce.

My wife has severe reactions and allergies to soy, dairy and gluten, so we normally love SotaRol as they are good at accommodating us. That's the one in Edina though. This one still put soy sauce in our food after we specifically asked, multiple times, on the phone and in person, telling us to our face there was no sauce. We checked it, couldn't see any sauce, then first bite my wife tastes the tamari(soy sauce). I called expecting an apology and maybe an offer to replace the dish, and the manager just said, "Sorry that's just something we make our vegetables with."
Unacceptable service. What if someone had the same situation, and went into anaphylaxis? Ridiculous. Go somewhere else

Fantastic taste, service was great.... Messed up slightly on my tweaked Philly roll and *bam* made right for free! Delish. Many gluten free and non-sushi options available.

Not a pleasant experience. Salad with ginger sauce was not good, there was a bug in it for starters and the ginger sauce didn't taste good.
They put my sushi 🍣 on plate with my husband's when I have a gluten allergy. The place looks like it should be a burger or pizza joint not a sushi and hibachi joint.
A great spot for celebrations, boasting a well-marked menu and a commitment to preparing options safely, plus delicious offerings that impress!

I went here to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend and I have celiac disease which is like a gluten allergy. I didn’t get any symptoms after eating and they have a menu marked with their gluten-free items and what you can eat. They also have gluten-free soy sauce. They weren’t sure about the imitation crab so they just said that they could take it off of the roll and they said that they make it in a separate area. I also usually get symptoms from cross-contamination whether it’s bloating stuff like that I didn’t get any symptoms personally so I would definitely say you could give them a shot if you’re looking for something in the area. The food was also really good and everyone was really nice there.
For warning— the gluten free menu is NOT gluten free. This was not a dietary preference but celiac, so it did matter. From what our server and the disclaimer said, the vinegar used for the rice is not rice vinegar so none of the sushi rice is gluten free. Our server actually pointed out that smaller “disclaimer” at the bottom of the gluten free menu (thank you thank you thank you for that). We don’t try to be fussy when we go out. We try to pick restaurants/cuisine that is more gluten-free friendly so we don’t make the kitchen go out of their way. Some places aren’t gluten free friendly and that is ok! But, having a separate gluten free menu, and then having only about three-ish items be actually gluten free borderlines on silly.
The consequences if we did not see that, or if our server didn’t point it out, would not have been silly. It is especially disappointing because when it came down to it, the seemingly best option ended up being steamed rice with sashimi on top and finely shredded carrots for $40+. The actually gluten free entrees also came with salad and miso soup— the miso soup is not gluten free…. Why is that offered on the gluten free menu then?
Atmosphere was fine. Drinks were fine. The rolls from those who could consume gluten were fine. Server was very knowledgeable thankfully. Don’t care to return, unless they update the menu unfortunately.
ZERO STARS. I have celiac disease, and the man up front assured me that any sushi roll could be made gluten free. He assured me three different times throughout the process that what I ordered was gluten free, and that he even supposedly checked with the chef, and he said it was gluten free. My receipt even stated that the order was supposed to be gluten free.
Trusting this, I got home with my food and started to eat my roll before noticing crunchy stuff on the inside. I called the store to confirm that this was a safe crunchy product, perhaps made with rice flour? The woman told me no, the crunchy stuff was definitely made with gluten, and on top of that, the spicy salmon in my roll also had gluten in it. This food was in NO WAY safe for me to consume. It's absolutely ridiculous for them to try to claim the food is gluten free when most of the employees don't even know what that means.
Celiac disease is a very serious medical condition. I have been sick for the past week, and studies show that it can take 3-6 months for the intestines to fully heal from a single exposure like this. You are seriously harming people by conducting business this way.
I'd also like to point out that beyond the allergen safety, this place was pretty gross. It seems like they try to hide the grime with dim lighting, but you can still tell. I didn't venture further than the front entry/counter, but my shoes were sticking to the floor with every step. This place is filthy and needs a serious health inspection.
Experience fresh and artfully crafted dishes with a burst of flavor and many vegan options for a memorable meal.

The ambiance, the decor, the staff, all greet you upon arrival. When you are going to be sat the host preemptively asks if you require a special menu, which as a gluten free vegan was awesome! I also required special seating for our party due to a wheelchair and they didn’t even hesitate to accommodate us. As someone who doesn’t drink alcohol but doesn’t like to be left out with just lemonade as a drink option, I was pleasantly impressed with their nonalcoholic drink menu. I ordered the prohibition one and really enjoyed it. Crave has always impressed me with their inclusion of vegetarian offerings but the beet and quinoa vegan salad was amazing! Everyone was so pleased with their meals. We ended with a fun sparkling dessert for the birthday lady!
Small portion sizes make the all you can eat a great deal at $26. Overall a bit more expensive than I'm use to but very tasty. Clean and attentive staff. They are willing to do gluten free and customize but they did forget to follow through with those customizations as well as forgot a couple of the items we ordered.
This has been my favorite place to go for sushi for years in Minneapolis. They have the best happy hour for drinks and food and all around great rolls. I have to eat gluten-free so there are some issues with finding compatible food but the staff are knowledgeable about it. They also allow dogs on the patio which is first come first serve.
I have ate at most big sushi places in Minnesota and many places out of state. Nothing has even compared to the freshness and quality of all the ingredients, they is why I spend hundreds of dollars here monthly (even though they are very reasonably priced) Not to mention they are a family business and every time I come in they bring me exsactly what I want without me even having to order. I also have celiac (gluten alergy) and they are great at accommodating my needs and even changing roles to make them safe for me. The secound I sit down they always Bring me gluten free soy sauce without me asking. These people have a passion for what they do and truly care about their customers. Amazing sushi spot! if you are to go anywhere in the area besides kais you are making a bad choice.

My only complaints were how loud the music was, the quality of the chicken teriyaki, and the lack of gluten free soy sauce. The music was overwhelming and GF soy sauce would be a simple accommodation to have. The chicken seemed undercooked and just weird and the teriyaki sauce was just like colored water.
We arrived a few minutes after they opened and were the fifth table to arrive. All of our food came out quickly.
Our server (John) was present, kind and efficient. The food was delicious.
We will definitely be back!
