Amazing time! Love the local dog that belongs to manager.. Melody 😍 such well behaved Customer service really good… very good with gluten free and cooking it separately!
I went here twice and got glutened the second time. The waiter was really confused and kept giving conflicting information about whether or not something was gluten free, even though it was indicated as GF the menu. In the end, it turns out it wasn't gluten free after all… Very frustrating!
Amazing gluten free food! We had 2 matcha lattes, gf carrot cake, and the berry and tropical gf pancakes and they were all amazing. Highly recommend this spot!
Amazing restaurant - great food, affordable and large portions.
Highly recommend if you are coeliac/ on a gluten free diet like myself. The owner straight away knew what was gluten free and not - out of the huge selection of rice and curries they gave us, 3 curries and the popadoms weren’t gluten free, however he pointed them out straight away and put them next to my friend who can eat gluten.
Great restaurant and lovely couple that run it.
I have allergies to peanuts and am celiac. They were able to cater well and I had the chicken and mushroom. Atmosphere is cool and drinks were good. Club was cool too!
Nutritious, clean and healthy menu - perfect for vegetarian, coeliac and people with allergies.
We visited three times- breakfast, lunch and a takeaway for dinner!
I have a range of health issues and they were amazing at adjusting my monk bowl to suit what they had on offer and what I could eat. Needless to say this was my “go to” item on the menu.
Hubby had three different meals- hummus toast (the avocado in the pic is a gift from my monk bowl!), meatballs, and breakfast roti - all superb with generous servings.
Chilled chai Marsala was delicious. And Americano coffee strong with a well rounded flavour.
Set in a garden, it’s a great air filled open space. They have fans to try to beat the heat. There is a clean washroom and lots of magazines and books.
Service was amazing. Just a delight to come here. Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you’re in Ella. We came multiple times throughout our stay and each time received great food and great service. For those who are on a gluten free diet/ or coeliac like myself, I also recommend coming. Gluten free is marked on the menu, they also have gluten free pasta and are very aware of cross contamination.
My non gluten free friend said the pizzas are amazing! I can vouch for the gluten free fungi cream pasta- very yummy.
Thank you especially to Chama for the great service
We visited this café every day and loved it! The food is great, with plenty of delicious Western options, and the gluten-free waffles are amazing—it's rare to find such good gluten-free options. The WiFi is fast, the air conditioning is refreshing, and the coworking space is perfect for getting work done. The waiters are incredibly kind and attentive. Highly recommend!
Best pizza I had in Sri Lanka. Very impressive portion sizes & delicious gluten free base available. Well worth the money for a good pizza whilst away! Will be coming back!!!
A lovely welcome, nice atmosphere and very professional staff. Ajith was very helpful and personal to us. Lots of vegan options and a whole gluten free menu! £70 for three very full adults and a bottle of great wine
Lovely restaurant by the sea, been here a couple of times and the food and service are both wonderful. They also have a lot of glutenfree options that are really good so recommend for all the fellow celiacs.
There were locals in the cafe, but it's like a place for tourists. Prices are expensive, there's a shop with expensive trendy souvenirs and it's also globalized. I went there because I'm celiac and I saw the place on the app for celiacs. However, they are not prepared to serve people with food allergies. Despite there being many tourists, they don't have any gluten-free bread. They offered me an avocado toast without bread. Cost: almost 10 euros, but it was very little to eat. They could have offered something alternative: egg or another vegetable, but no. The bread toasts are 90% bread. Nothing out of the ordinary. I give it an average rating for trying to be Western, but for still having a lot to improve.
Visited hideout on the holy full moon day - we ordered four cocktails and which did not have alcohol in them, and was charged for an alcoholic cocktail without our knowing. The food was also not good - I got the potato wedges to start which were raw in the middle. The curry was too rich which made it sickly, without the proper flavor.
They were good with allergen information for my partners gluten intolerance, but the food was no where near worth the price.
Amazing food, delicious coffee, beautiful views, and friendly proprietors. Food was fresh, healthy, and full of flavor. Sri Lankan curries as well as noodles and fried rice, which our kids loved.
We were especially grateful that they graciously accommodated our need for gluten free food for our son with celiac.
Fantastic stop!
We went here last night and loved it. Buzzy atmosphere despite being Mirissa/Weligama off season and great decor. Service was excellent (shout out to Samantha and Asanka, who were also very helpful with gluten free options). Drinks were very good and the Prawn Curry was amazing, one of the best we've had so far in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend.
I don't understand the hype around this place. We came specifically because there were good reviews and you could pack your own breakfast. But we were completely disappointed, half of the ingredients were missing, the sandwich was thinly spread with guacamole and an egg on top and nothing else - very weak and tasteless gluten-free bread. The only plus was that the pancakes were tasty but also a little dry. For such a price it’s very bad, I wanted to give it 1, but for the pancakes it’s a 2 plus. There are plenty of places around where breakfast is tastier and cheaper. Me and my girlfriend didn't like it
We had dinner here yesterday as a group of 4 friends, and we couldnt be more happy with the food that was served to us. Everything is clean, staff is professional and well trained to communicate nicely with customers, they can speak English well, menu has so many different options that everybody will find what he/she likes and prefers and most importantly there’s allergens mentioned for every meal. There are also multiple gluten free options! Perfect place, we would come again.
I have celiac disease (very sensitive gluten allergy). I ordered a poke with very simple ingredients (no sauce, toppings and chose zoodles as a base to be extra safe). Nainda was very helpful and kind, he made sure the kitchen staff took care of cross-contamination.
A wonderful tiny place between all the big touristy places in Ella.
Delicious rice and curry with a wide selection of curries.
We need to eat gluten free, the man who took our order knew exactly what we needed and made sure we had a safe meal.
Nice little and cheap family-run restaurant. We went there for dinner twice and enjoyed it every time. Since I have to eat gluten-free, I had my “please to the chef” card with me. The boss obviously knew about it, and I didn't have any problems after either meal. The drinks cooled with ice cubes were - upon request - also in the bottle and not from the tap; we had no (stomach) problems (it was our first evening in Sri Lanka). We can definitely recommend the small restaurant (cheap prices!)!!
The cool open room layout with plants first caught my eye, and their cocktail menu as well. Stayed for. Some food and everything we ate was delicious. The secret garden salad 🤤, had gluten free dishes as well.
We had the most delicious meal in Wasantha's restaurant. She is such an attentive chef, she came to the table and explained each dish to us. All her staff were kind and welcoming. I have an allergy to gluten and she made two delicious curries from scratch for me, gluten free. The food is absolutely amazing! We really enjoyed and would highly recommend it!
Very nice relaxing place and nice offer for people who are both vegan and have a gluten allergy. However, the food was really not tasty. I had a cauliflower salad that was way too salty with French Fries on the side instead of potato slices and my friend had oatmeal with a whole layer of honey floating on top. They told us that the cauliflower was supposed to be salty, but I would have liked to have known that when ordering. I only now see in other photos that the cauliflower salad was not prepared correctly. And it might be more convenient to serve the honey next to the oatmeal so that you can add honey to your own taste. We paid €25 for these two dishes, a coffee and a juice. It was only possible to pay in cash, which we were told in advance.
I'm always hesitant to eat fish around here, it must be my thing, it bothers me. This is a highly recommended place to try fish dishes, the cuisine is delicious, the atmosphere is calm and the service is very friendly.
Also, being a celiac, I felt comfortable because it was one of the few places where I didn't have to explain several times and I felt safe.
(For those who don't know how to communicate intolerance: "piti mama ka nenè" means something like "I don't eat flour"; piti = flour, mama = me, ka enè = I don't eat)
Went the extra 100 miles!
My girlfriend can only eat gluten free, and she ordered the rice but it had soy in it. We paid without eating it, and the waiters + the manager couldn’t let us leave without us being satisfied.
They offered to make any meal gluten free, we asked for pizza, and next day they made it especially for us from rice flour!
Service out of this world.
And I didn’t mention the amazing food and extremely talented singer and guitarist that makes this place magical.
We fell in love.
Fantastic place a little outside the hustle and bustle of unawatuna. It is very nice both inside the bookshop, but also in the garden outside. The food is good, they offer several options that are gluten free and vegan. The service is also incredibly pleasant. It can be highly recommended.
Wonderful dosai! The staff is lovely, there are lots of gluten-free options and everything is delicious and inexpensive. We had the cheese onion masala dosa, a paper dosa and two juices, it was all great.
Nice spot, good service. Light on veg options but veg roti wrap was like a simple veg swarma with a thhiiiick roti. A heavier dose of gluten than I was planning on but theres prob a couple better options for next time.
There was no menu but friendly and very helpful staff helped us to order the gluten free options. We had the string hoppers with the vege side dishes and the chicken curry. The meal was delicious and the service was great. Highly recommend if you're looking for an authentic Sri Lankan food experience with friendly locals.
I have celiac disease and I went there because they had gluten-free options. When you arrive there is no coffee or anything to drink. He told me that the coffee maker broke yesterday, but reading comments I see that it was months ago. I ordered some bread to take with me on the last day so I could eat it in the following destinations but I almost couldn't. I left it reserved and when I arrived it had not been given to another person. Then they wrote to me that they were ready but I had to go. They offered to bring it to me, but then I saw that they charged me for delivery. They didn't even have the detail since the mistake had been theirs. Also the prices are expensive, more than European ones. I would not repeat nor recommend it
