Absolutely delicious and excellent service. We had the caprese salad, eggplant parmigana and a proper wood fired pizza. All dishes were some of the best Italian food we've had outside of Italy. Amazing. And perfectly topped off with great wine and a limoncello! Sad they were sold out of gluten free pizza but will definitely be back to try it when next in the area. Thank you for a great night and 100% recommend.
Been going here for years now. Always a nice place to be. Tonight I took my little kids who also love it. (Their request in fact)
Mostly gluten free which is a huge win for me. Great selection of drinks.
Good for any occasion.
Love your work team (:
Great quick lunch spot. I had the Mexican tacos that were gluten free and my partner had the cheese burger. Food was good. You need to order everything through the QR codes on the tables. Quite small space for the tables/dining area.
Sensational pizza (gluten free to accommodate m’lady) with delicious ingredients. Service was so friendly and accommodating. And how can you beat corkage free booze from the wine shop next door. Thanks for great experience Hamish and Alex.
We had a really nice meal here .
The brisket was really good and was also gluten free. So that was good .The service was good and the decor in the room was very good too .A good selection of music was playing when we were there .It looks like they have live music there too .Well worth a look .
I had one of the vegan / gluten free options for lunch and took out one of the ingredients that I'm intolerant too. It was really delicious. My friends enjoyed their food and smoothies too.
Absolutely loved our dinner at the Avalon, the food was divine, the lamb my mother in law and I had was so tender and my father in law loved his salmon and my husband the chicken. Service was also great, they looked after us very well, making sure my GF food was coeliac safe. My in-laws loved the quirkiness of the decor and it was very warm and cosy. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening thank you.
We had lunch here and it was absolutely delicious. Interesting and unique food. Delicious gluten free bread which is always hard to find. Lovely, warm and friendly wait staff. A fabulous restaurant experience that I would highly recommend.
Edit: I went here a second time and food once again was delicious. However after paying leaving a good tip and then leaving. I was chased down the street by a waiter telling me my card has declined. It hadn't declined and I had to show them this in my net banking. I was told if there were any issues they would call me 'back. No issues of course because my card didn't decline. A call to apologise would have been good.
We loved this place and thought the service was great and the pizzas delicious. I really appreciated the gluten free pizza having no surcharge too, such a rarity! The place has a great vibe (without tv screens would be even better). Thanks for the great food and cocktails, we Will be back!
i’ll be so honest. we went in on a very busy night and were told it would be an hour wait, and we were fine with that. but they forgot our orders, ended up taking 1hr 45mins minimum and the gluten free pizza is tne worst i’ve ever eaten. i have domino’s, i’ve had my own, i’ve had other ordinary restaurants gf pizzas, this was inedible. i had to pick off all the topping to try to get a meal out of it. maybe their other gf options are better, but that being said, my stomach hurts so there’s likelihood in their forgetfulness of our order, they gave me the wrong base despite me double and triple checking with various servers as we waited and as our order was given to us. we ended up asking for the pizzas to go since they were going to close soon. it Was going to be an early dinner on the last night of our holiday and it was just. Bad. it was a Bad Meal. i ordered a pizza without onion as well, and received it with onion, so this is evidence of them forgetting the original order and being careless. training is so important, a busy night should not be the reason someone has an adverse reaction to their meal they tentatively ordered. coeliacs and those with allergies should not have to hide away in their homes and never go on holidays to ensure they don’t accidentally become poisoned or eat bad food on a busy night.
Great spot for a cosy coffee and food on a cool morning. Friendly staff, great selection of gluten free treats (handmade locally). Great ham and cheese croissant with the best local ham. Highly recommend
The Old City Bank exceeded all expections. The menu was diverse and had solid crowd pleasers and some wonderful more creative options - it had something for everyone including vego and gluten free. The food was excellent.
The staff were delightful and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The building retains its history and period décor. Downstairs is an excellent bar with local bevies available and dining is directly above. Make sure to book if you there on a weekend or during the holidays - seems they are no secret!
What a treat this has been! If you’re a coeliac like me, you cannot go wrong with this lovely restaurant. The setting of an old church converted into a restaurant is unique and the food was absolutely divine. I ordered the shredded Osso Buco with GF option and the Parmesan & herb gluten free bread! Washed the food down with a lovely Davo Spritz.
We had a lovely family dinner!
Highly recommend a visit to the Mountain Culture Beer Co when in Katoomba. Fun atmosphere, good drinks and food. I appreciated their gluten free options!
My recent visit to Pins on Lurline left me with mixed feelings, primarily due to a frustrating dining experience. We had chosen this restaurant to host a special meal for a visiting family friend from the UK over the long weekend. While the manager's willingness to accommodate us at the last minute was appreciated, the actual service we encountered was far from satisfactory.
We opted for the 6-course meal and one with a wine pairing, expecting a delightful culinary experience. Unfortunately, the experience quickly soured due to multiple service mishaps. When placing our order, I emphasized my dietary restriction: no red meat, but chicken, pork, and fish were acceptable. Despite this, our first hiccup occurred when the waitress brought two beef cheek dishes to the table, inquiring about gluten-free preferences. Once again, I reiterated my dietary requirement and preference for non-vegetarian options. Nevertheless, the next course arrived as a pumpkin risotto, completely disregarding my request.
As the courses progressed, the errors continued. When everyone received the lamb dish, I was served a chickpea-based alternative, despite once more explaining my dietary restrictions. The waitress's response was far from accommodating, stating that I would have to wait for the fish option if I did not want the chickpea dish. At this point, I just wanted to enjoy a meal without further complications, so I reluctantly accepted the dish that had been incorrectly presented.
Our dissatisfaction extended to the wine pairing service. Throughout the evening, our wine glasses were consistently refilled, even before the corresponding food had been served. It wasn't until we reminded the waitress that we were still awaiting our main course that the wine service slowed down.
To add to the chaos, during dessert, another waitress approached our table, inquiring about the wine pairing as if we hadn't already been receiving it. This mix-up only served to highlight the lack of communication and organization among the staff.
Perhaps the most glaring oversight was the neglect of our basic needs. For the entire 2.5-hour duration of our meal, no one bothered to refill our water glasses, leaving us parched and frustrated.
We had hoped for a special meal with our visiting friend but left feeling let down by the restaurant's service quality.
It was just amazing! The little store is really welcoming and the staff is super friendly!
I ordered a mud cake (came as vegan and gluten free) and a real chocolate. I didn't expect the hot chocolate to be that much! It was perfect. I would say it is not just a drink, it is an experience. I never had hot chocolate like this before, thank you very much for that. So when you are visiting the blue mountains definitely have a stop there and regain some energy for the exhausting walks 🫶🏼
Popped in after a morning and afternoon trekking in the blue mountains. Delicious food and caters to both vegan and gluten free. My partner is celiac and the kitchen were brilliant and reassuring. Would definitely recommend ☺️
Gorgeous interior decor with a warm and cozy ambience, with excellent service and a diverse menu, including vegan and gluten free options. The food was tasty and the pricing and portion sizes were spot on. I'd come here again.
The rye bread which I think is gluten free (forgot to ask) is delicious.
We also bought the multigrain sourdough loaf - less dense but that’s to be expected.
A French baker in the heart of the mountains. What’s not to love! My only regret is not buying a croissant for my daughter. Got her text too late. :( I did indulge us in a takeaway macaron instead. Divine!
Coffee from the Lawson shop is amazing.
Will be back - to either Katoomba or Lawson or both!
Food and service was lovely...
just need more Gluten Free and Dairy Free options.
The only downside really was the accoustics..especially wen full of people talking, deafening!
They need some "soft furnishings" on floor and walls..and ceiling? Was headache material... and impossible to have conversation. A pity.
Hope they can address that.. then it will be a "good go to" cafe. Especially for us locals🙏🤞
Went in 23rd dec on advice of a friend. Asked about gf offerings as I am coeliac. Owner assured me at length that 90% of the food was gf. And no gluten went in the fryer. Absolute lies. I spent xmas violently ill and unable to leave my bed and am still getting over it now. I wouldn’t have risked this normally but the owner assured me many times I would be safe. THANKS FOR THE WORST GLUTEN REACTION. I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED AND FOR RUINING MY XMAS.
Food was of a poor standard, large rice was tiny. Food indicated it was gluten free, but after eating the food I became ill. Don't bother wasting your time and money.
Amazing food! Unbelievable how knowledgeable, well trained and committed the staff is, everyone did their part flawlessly! Everything from serving the food/presentation of the food, serving the wine, water, putting the food on the plates, the chef, service overall, everything was 100%.
There were two of us who ate and I am allergic to milk protein and gluten and they fixed it for me without even blinking, it was a taste experience I have never experienced before! AWESOME! I really recommend a visit to Darley's if you want that little something extra and the perfect dining experience! All areas get 5/5 except the toilets which get 3/5, they could have been cleaner. But all in all GREAT JOB! Definitely worth it! We are very pleased!
Superb! I had the paneer pakoras and shahi shahzi, both were excellent. Friendly staff and great service. Good vegetarian and gluten free options too. Highly recommended!
Really lovely people, great food, and the best thing for me is they are coeliac friendly! Yay. Haven’t failed me in many years. It’s so hard to find a truly gluten free place. I really appreciate the care they take
Very good food in a pleasant, spacious atmosphere. We ate here several times and they handled celiac/glutenfree flawlessly each time. Host is a very welcoming fellow that keeps tabs on everything.
Great food and better service. My wife is Coeliac and the waitress double checked our order was gluten free and offered better suggestions. So impressed. Food was great and the ladies working did a great job. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR GF.
