My friend and I loved this place. I got a cookie and she got the cinnamon roll! You would never know it is gluten free strictly with a taste test. Staff are so nice and accommodating as well!
I am recently gluten free and it is so nice to be able to be able to go somewhere where I could eat everything! I was feeling so discouraged being gluten free.
Always the best crepes in the state. Sooooo good and gluten free is available for all crepes. I love the French infused atmosphere and the staff. A must visit breakfast brunch spot in the city
Waiter was extremely friendly and helpful when we had questions. I was so excited to order gluten free pancakes (gluten sensitive)- I’ve never seen them anywhere! They were SO good and I was amazed they didn’t have gluten. It’s not often you find gluten-free food that is fluffy and not dry! If we are ever in the area again we will be stopping by.
Good amount of gluten-free options, including actually-good GF toast (still rare!), and a selection of desserts. The service and atmosphere were lovely. The prices were a bit steep for the type of food and drink offered, but ultimately, it was understandable given the location and likely overhead costs.
My favorite food item was the mushroom-beet toast. Haven't had anything like it before, and I was pleasantly surprised!
Got two cakes for my birthday, one regular and one gluten free cake for a party I hosted. Delicious cake and one of the staff members helped me carry my cake to my car. Excellent service, taste, and got it right!
Everything else at McClain's is also amazing.
Stopped here for my lunch break. Not only is this location super cute but also has fast and friendly service. Drive thru was busy but the inside was cozy, bright and pretty quiet for a Saturday afternoon. Perfect spot to read and enjoy some lunch! Plenty of healthy options to choose from including gluten free. The Mint Chip Energizer tastes EXACTLY like mint chip ice cream, but without the guilt!!! Delicious!! Sesame chicken salad was very fresh and tasty. H2O #5 was wonderfully refreshing during a long work day. This location will definitely be my go to place.
I was told the gluten free things were marked on the menu.. they were not, the only thing they have gluten free is bread, no pancakes. You would think you could get French toast since they have gluten free bread available, can’t get French toast with the gluten free bread because it is dipped in the same batter as regular bread. Altogether definitely a 1 in my book because when I want breakfast as a gluten free person on vacation, I want gluten free pancakes, French toast etc. not simply just toast. I couldn’t be more disappointed.
I’ve never had a bad thing from hungry hatch. If you’re sick of simple macro bowls or out and about and don’t want fast food this place has your back. I feel like you get enough bang for your buck and they never skimp on ingredients and toppings. The staff are really friendly and the food comes out quickly. I have been lots of times.
Frankly my opinion is people call it bland in negative reviews because either a) they’re not used to healthy food aka not doused in salt and msg b) they’re the drown it all in hot sauce type of people. I said what I said. *shrugs*
Either way this place is amazing and I wish I had their shredded chicken recipe. They’re so nice, easy to support local, and they have a good variety of dietary options for all. It’s so hard to find gluten free or vegan or vegetarian that also has meat options so everyone is happy.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City! They have a number of vegetarian and gluten free options, and their food is outstanding. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing (love their rooftop seating), and the staff is the best! They even remade my order for free when I forgot to ask for it without cheese (dairy allergy). 10/10 recommended this place!
Having gluten free, dairy free empanadas was nice. The chicken was tasty, but the beef was too salty and tasted like cheap taco beef. I only had 2 and I think 4 would make a decent meal, but a bit expensive for what it was.
Phenomenal vibes with breakfast options aside from pastries even though their croissants are fire. They even have a few gluten free options. Great coffee drinks and upstairs area to enjoy and sit.
Mildred’s is one of my favorite places in the Crossroads for several reasons.
1. It’s a family owned business. That continues to be passed down to future generations.
2. The current owners are young, successful entrepreneurs who pride themselves on taking care of their employees and it is paying off BIG time!. Mildred's take-home pay has always been a living wage, and since 2022 they've been able to provide health insurance and 401k retirement benefits to their full-time employees.
From kcmo.gov/livingwage: "A living wage is the minimum income necessary for workers to meet their basic needs, which include food, housing and other essential needs such as clothing...
"The living wage differs from the minimum wage in that the latter is set by national law and can fail to meet the requirements to have a basic quality of life, leaving the family to rely on government assistance."
3. I am always so impressed with how professional and happy the staff are. They always go out of their way to provide excellent customer service! That is extremely rare these days! I genuinely LOVE going to any Mildred's location because it is so obvious that the employees truly enjoy their jobs! And that, my friends, speaks volumes about who is running the place! 🏆
4.The fact that their food is mouthwatering delicious is just an added bonus! I highly recommend the standard breakfast sandwich on the jalapeño cornbread. The breakfast potatoes are amazing! The biscuits and gravy are the best thing ever! And if you are gluten free, get the breakfast hash because it’s the next best thing to eating the actual breakfast sandwich!
There are so many artist’s events here! The Songwriter’s Sanctuary on 3rd Sundays was wonderful. Also, the chai-der and vegan/gluten free crumble bar was very nice.
Great atmosphere! Lots of natural light & cute plants.
- Serves Messenger coffee.
- Espresso machine: La Marzocco Linea Classic.
- Food options: Bakery items (including gluten friendly options) and a full menu which looks ideal for brunch.
- Pet friendly; there’s a dog park out front.
- Seating: Efficient seating indoors; although the building is small the seating didn’t feel crowded. There’s lots of outdoor seating too.
I had the Dulce de Leche and Vegan blueberry bar. Very good, I'm glad they offered different milk alternatives and vegan and gluten free food. Definitely coming back.
This place is amazing! They have wonderful gluten free options, a cozy atmosphere, and the staff is always attentive and sweet. The gluten free peanut butter ball with sesame seeds was delicious! We also had a blueberry green tea refresher which was perfect for a hot summer day. I wish I lived closer because I'd be going all the time!
We used Mildred's catering for a work breakfast and it was incredible! Not only was everything delicious and ready on-time, but it was also affordable. Mildred's even took the extra step to make sure everything was labeled so our vegan, vegetarian and gluten free colleagues were able to eat with confidence. Thank you Mildred's team!
The person at the counter was apparently having a rough day and seemed frustrated. I hope everything is going better for them. Maybe the place was extra short staffed. That's common these days.
My one major complaint is that it took over twenty minutes for me to get my food. Again, my first guess would be staffing issues.
I ordered an eggs benedict and the egg yolks were almost sold through, which wasn't the worst as i had mine bread free, having a gluten allergy. The cook might have taken the initiative to cook them a little firmer since there was no soaking material. The portion of hollandaise was a bit light, i could purpose the same hypothesis as above to steelman the chef. But other than that, it was a delightful meal.
The atmosphere is excellent and the coffee bar offers a fine tasting brew.
I'll be coming back in the future.
The best coffee with the best staff!! My dog and I always have such a personable experience here!
You can't go wrong delicious breakfast sandwiches!!
(P.S they have gluten free bread!)
Friendly staff that is helpful with the menu, good food, my wife liked the falafels, they have gluten free options, limited seating, counter service set up for to-go orders.
The food was good, but one of the line cooks laughed at me and walked away when i asked if they had vegan cheese (I’m lactose intolerant and celiac, and the website made it look like the team would be trained to handle that, but i guess not). The servers hardly made eye contact with us even though we were the only ones there, the cashier acted like we were the biggest inconvenience she’s ever had, and like i said i was literally mocked for asking for cheese that wouldn’t make me sick. Whoever is the night manager in this store needs to be either fired and replaced or put through remedial training asap. Then after they dropped off my pizza at the table, they put my partners pizza in the online order area and forgot about it until he went up there to ask- all while having literally no more than 1 other customer and maybe 2 door dashers over that 12 minutes.
Yikes.
The espresso is amazing! It's toasty and delicious, and it compliments each drink perfectly. I also really appreciate the gluten free donut options. They were so fresh and tasty.

A convenient lunch during our museum visit. Trench stew was very filling. There were multiple sandwich and burger options as well as a homemade soup of the day. Staff helped me with gluten free options.
This is my new favorite coffee spot! I’ve been here a couple times now. Atmosphere, coffee and food were amazing. I love that you have gluten free options because so many places do not.
The only thing that could make it better is the staff. Well, just one person. I had the same girl both times I came in and she seems like she does not like her job. She doesn’t smile, say thank you (huge for small businesses) and I sat at the bar where I witnessed it with every person who came in. I’ve been noticing it a lot with the younger generation, it’s such a bummer. A smile and a thank you go a long way! We will keep coming back no matter what because outside of those small interactions, the vibes are fantastic.
The artistry and creativity is amazing! I love the colors and uniqueness Christopher Elbow offers. While showing properties in downtown KC I popped in to check out what is new. They have adorable Easter box sets (see photos). I have given these chocolates as gifts to clients, friends and family for a long time and they never disappoint. They have gluten and dairy free options, but they still contain soy. Go check out all the new offerings! #kansascity #realtor #realestate #chocolates #kclocal #kcmo #kc #visitkc #art #love #realtorlife

There's a fee but they let me try it free the first time. The astro turf is recycled, very smart use of it. Keeps dog paws cleaner than running through mud. I hope they get gluten free fries & safe items on the menu so I can eat next time.
So excited! South Plaza has been in need of more coffee shops and places to WFH
The service is top notch and food delicious. Lots of gluten free options.
Pro tip: You will need to sit at the espresso bar or bar upstairs for an outlet to plug in your computer. It is super busy and loud, so bring headphones!
They have a microwave downstairs for pastries too.

The egg bites and fruit cup were great. The gluten free cheesy bread was the real hero though. Good coffee. Service was as fast as can be expected at an airport with long lines.
