We are so thankful for Sunflour Bakery! For the past 4 years, we’ve ordered a gluten free, vegan cake due to wheat and egg allergies for our daughter, and they always turn out so delicious and beautiful. This year was our favorite! Having a local shop able to accommodate this request is SO amazing to us!
Almost everything on the menu can be made gluten free on a separate surface. They also have a full bar. Perfect for brunch! 3 Charlotte locations! We got the Pineapple upside down pancakes and the Spuds Deluxe!
Enjoyed a brunch break with my family of 6. I tried the Louisiana Quiche with a side of potatoes. The quiche was good as far as seasoning and flavor but the pastry part of the quiche was overcooked and therefore hard to eat with a fork. The hot chocolate was great! It’s my go-to hot drink. I give it and our service 5/5. Although it’s a 45-minute drive from Kannapolis, I’ll happily make it again; especially since I’m the passenger while my husband drives ;) The menu has so many options, I love trying different things! I don’t mind paying for good quality, feel-good food that’s prepped fresh. I’m always satisfied. If I find something that I don’t prefer, I just order something different next time. So many choices, including gluten-free and vegetarian.
Was there yesterday with the family to get gluten free doughnuts and they were awesome. Besides other regular doughnuts we ordered. Thank you for providing gluten free options to the public, my daughter greatly appreciates it. We drive 30 minutes just to get them.
I had an amazing experience at The Salty Donut! I tried the Vegan PB&J, the gluten-free donut, and the Tiramisu donut—and each one was a standout in its own way. The Vegan PB&J was nostalgic and rich, with the perfect balance of nutty and fruity flavors. The gluten-free option was impressively moist and flavorful—not something you always get with gluten-free treats. And the Tiramisu donut? Pure indulgence, with layers of creamy coffee flavor that truly hit the spot. Whether you’re vegan, gluten-free, or just a donut lover, there’s something here for everyone. Highly recommend stopping by!
I was so excited to try this “Instagram-famous place” for lunch and drove all the way from SC to try their chef’s special pastries. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with everything I ordered, including the regular latte, quiche Lorraine, and gluten-free passion fruit mousse cake. I spent $30 on these three items and ended up throwing everything away. I noticed other guests doing the same or just leaving their pastries untouched. I do not recommend this place at all—avoid it by all means! The food is simply not tasty!
Pros :
- the cake is phenomenal - I don’t like cake at all and I love their cakes - the strawberry filling is perfection
- pricing for cakes is competitive to other bakeries
- the store smells amazing when you walk in
Cons :
- can’t order cakes in person at the store… can only be ordered online.
Was told this was to prevent the small store area from getting crowded during Covid … I get safety precautions but I was told this in July 2024. Maybe it’s time to update your procedures. I was ordering cakes for my wedding and wanted to make sure the frosting colors were right bc sometimes colors on a screen or in a pic look different - was told to move along and order online and looking at pictures of the colors and an online order was my only option.
- they don’t offer delivery
- they don’t offer tiered cakes
- I ordered the horizontal palette designs with my wedding colors and the cakes I picked up the day before the event had vertical designs on them. I had already had such a bad experience with customer service over multiple in person visits and over the phone that I chose not to say anything bc ultimately no one but me would know/care at the wedding and I didn’t have any time to wait for them to try and fix it or come back later.
- ordering/paying in store is chaotic - there is no structure or direction for forming a line or helping customers in an orderly manner
- no gluten free options
Great friendly atmosphere, largely clean, and spacious. Also, there is ample parking in the lot and also on the street in back of the facility. The food is very good 👍. However, the portions are small. Therefore, this is not the place to go if you are very hungry. Gluten free selections are available but limited. Service staff aims to please so if you are a finicky lactose and gluten intolerant person like me, they will accommodate and build sandwiches to your liking.
let me just say, Zack/Zach (one of the managers) if you see this… your the reason i WILL be coming back. i have a gluten allergy and i felt SO SAFE and so seen, so loved. amazing experience.

All of the staff are so kind, especially Fia!! I always have the most uplifting conversations with them. Yummy food and fantastic environment to be in!! My favorite item is the (gluten free) caramel brownie. Such a delightful treat!
I come to Sunflour Baking Company often because the food is great — they have a lot of gluten-free options, delicious breakfast, and really good coffee. But the customer service needs some improvement. On my most recent visit the girl working the counter — she had dark hair with green dye — didn’t greet me or say anything. I had to start the conversation and place my order without any acknowledgment. She barely spoke, didn’t smile, and seemed totally uninterested. When the order was done, she didn’t say anything like “your food will be out soon,” and just walked away. When I received my food and said “thank you,” she didn’t respond. I love the food here and I love this place, but I think the experience would be so much better if the staff were a bit more friendly and welcoming.
I would not consider this an allergy-friendly restaurant. Quite frankly, if a kitchen and restaurant do not care about the health of their customers, what are they even doing cooking food for other people?
I ordered the chicken avocado wrap with a gluten-free tortilla (which I paid extra for) and asked for no cheese. I also ordered a grilled cheese with fries and ketchup. I was a little taken aback when I realized my wrap wasn’t labeled gluten-free, but I tried to keep an open mind. Then I noticed it had cheese in it as well.
I called the restaurant to confirm whether it was a gluten-free wrap. The person on the phone just tried to describe it to me, but honestly, there was no way to tell. I was left with food that I couldn’t be sure was safe for me to eat.
The grilled cheese we ordered was burned, but I didn’t even bother bringing it up because it was already clear they had no process for handling issues with orders and didn’t consider it important enough to escalate to a manager. I did mention that they forgot the ketchup; however, the woman on the phone decided to blame the Grubhub driver for that.
Explain to me how it’s the driver’s job to pick up ketchup, napkins, and silverware. They work for Grubhub—they’re a delivery driver. Why should they be doing the restaurant’s job? Plus, the bag was stapled shut when it arrived. Was he supposed to bring those items in his pockets?
Disappointing and not like I remember it when it was the Dilworth location.
I ordered a blueberry lemon gluten free cake for a birthday! They did a beautiful job! Everything was perfect and the staff went above and beyond! Highly recommend!
I had the gluten free pizza and it was very good. While I was ordering I saw one of the staff being somewhat rude to another customer. I liked how they validated the parking
This place was a wonderful surprise. My wife has gluten and dairy allergies and there are lots of delicious options. I got the avocado toast with poached eggs and bacon. She got the breakfast tortilla and we shared the banana chocolate chip muffin. Fantastic. Everything was “made with love” according to the owner and I could taste it. He wa a wonderful guy as well. It was clear he loved his work. We definitely will go back.

Ngl I was extremely pleasantly surprised. Where I’m from in the north east is known for having good donuts. I’ve lived in North Carolina for years and that’s one thing I’ve never found down here is a good donut. Hendough is awful, grandads cider donuts are ok, and mcfarlenes donuts are ok. I dare say these donuts are good. good donut should be soft, not to dense not to bready or dry, but almost cakey in texture, tender and moist. The donuts were pleasantly glazed and not overpowered by the glaze. My wife told me to try their donuts and I was critical however these are the best donuts I’ve had here. And gluten free and dairy free is just surprising. Making good gf food feels almost impossible. But yes this place is good and for sure deserves five stars.
Always a good experience. GF notation on menu, gf bun offered with burger that comes out separate with the other food. They minimize cross contamination as much as possible. Fries are noted gf…I have never had an issue eating them. Been told they have dedicated frier but they do offer fried chicken so not 100%.
I indulged in some dishes, which not only did not contain any gluten but also did not disappoint in the flavor department. You really must sample their fresh beverages; it is unlike anything else I have ever had the pleasure of tasting.
Delicious sandwiches and bread that doesn’t fall apart. They make it in a separate space and take precaution. They serve breakfast and lunch. Best part…the frose. Don’t walk, run !
A great place for breakfast or brunch!! A good many of their items can be made gluten free and cooked on a clean surface. Just talk to your server. The pineapple upside down pancakes and cinnamon roll pancakes are amazing!
We didn’t expect to have such an amazing lunch here but we did! The matcha is great, the empanadas are delicious, and the sandwiches were excellent. Lots of gluten free options as well. Such an amazing meal!

First time heading over to Waterbean and can say it did not disappoint. Mocha was wonderful, and the gluten-free treat was amazing! Cannot wait to try something else on our next visit.
The vibes inside are so cute! Staff is super friendly and kind, and the price compared to other coffee shops is unbeatable!! Love it here and will definitely come back. They have gluten free options too!!

Night Swim Coffee Oakhurst is a cute spot to go and enjoy a coffee and light breakfast/pastry. Not a ton of seating, but there is also some outdoor seating. I got an almond milk iced latte with an extra shot of espresso which was delicious. For food, I had the Avocado Toast on GF bread, wasn’t blown away by it, however I respect that they had a few gluten free options. I definitely would come here again for the espresso!

One of my girlfriends and I wanted to try a cute coffee place, as we are both coffee fans and visiting the Charlotte area. This place was super disappointing, low quality, and incredibly overpriced. Our breakfast sandwiches were tiny, cold, and made with a hamburger bun. My friend’s gluten free option came un-toasted and we had to ask them to warm it up. The cappuccino was good. Check out the pictures attached for a better understanding of the mediocre quality of the eats!
Great experience, lovely atmosphere, and good coffee. Quintin was incredibly friendly and helpful - she took the time to make recommendations for a first time visit and helped me find a gluten free option on the menu. Highly recommend!
I cannot recommend the Mad Greek gluten-free, "pita-less" gyro alternative enough! This dish is a vibrant medley of fresh ingredients that come together beautifully. At the base, you’ll find a generous bed of crisp, crunchy lettuce that adds a refreshing crunch to every bite. The added layers of sliced onions provide a delightful sharpness, while the juicy tomatoes burst with flavor, creating a perfect balance of textures.
The star of this dish is undoubtedly our savory lamb and beef mixture, which is seasoned to perfection. Each scoop is rich and succulent, offering a hearty and satisfying experience. The addition of creamy feta cheese elevates the flavor profile, introducing a salty richness that complements the meat wonderfully.
To top it all off, they include a side of the “homemade tzatziki dip”. This cool, tangy sauce is the ideal accompaniment, enhancing the dish with its refreshing taste and smooth texture. It’s perfect for dipping or drizzling over the gyro for that extra burst of flavor.
Overall, the gluten-free option is not only delicious but also a healthier alternative for those looking to enjoy a classic gyro without the carbs. Whether you’re gluten-sensitive or simply seeking a lighter meal, this dish is sure to impress!
The staff are excellent and the bottle choices are great, lots of options. I appreciate that they have lots of gluten free choices for snacks and drinks. However, I feel like some of the deli/sandwich options are overpriced and not consistent in quality. I paid over $14 for a pimento grilled cheese that had barely any cheese whatsoever on it and two extremely soggy and tasteless tomato slices in it that weren't even cooked, and my colleague once got a sandwich with bread that appeared to have some mold on it. I would love to see the hot food options have better quality in the future, as this location is extremely convenient to my office and I would patronize it more.
AMAZING GLUTEN FREE PASTRIES. Gf cinnamon muffin was the most delicious muffin i’ve ever had. They also had gf lemon loaf, gf breakfast cookie, gf chocolate chip muffin.
Loved the atmosphere and the waffles. Just be very cautious for those that don't eat gluten. I had a very bad brain fog after eating here and felt my body swell. At the time of my purchase I wasn't thinking if it was made out of gluten and just eat cause I was really hungry 😅 but they are delicious.
The entire staff was super friendly this morning when I came in with my toddler to get to-go food. The attendant who rang in my food helped me order something with my gluten allergy. Both the breakfast tacos and the coffee were fantastic! We will be back.

We came to sip city for drinks with friends and the staff members were so friendly! Great atmosphere for drinks and conversation. As someone that is gluten free, there was a fantastic wine selection and my husband loved the beers. When it was time to walk home (in the rain) the owner handed us all ponchos and thanked us for coming! We had a great experience and will definitely be supporting this business again.
Quiet shop with a nice atmosphere. Some gluten free breakfast options. The avocado blt on gf bread is super tasty. Overnight oats were good too. Coffee is solid but nothing special if you’re a coffee snob.
Best avocado toast in town and they offer so many yummy gluten and dairy free options! Delicious fresh pressed juices and smoothie bowls…Everything I tried was excellent! Good vibes only!!
It’s a perfect cafe to visit in any season or escape for a the remote work, as they have amazing indoor and outdoor spaces.
Their coffee grounds and their all day breakfast options are very much authentic. Their gluten free and vegan breads are to give a try.
