Holy smokes, Batman!
As someone who often struggles to find great food options (especially gluten-free), Irregardless blew me away.
Our waitress—whose name I regretfully forgot, and it’s not on my receipt—was phenomenal. I told her I was torn between a few choices, and she confidently recommended the Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich (GF). Honestly? One of the best sandwiches I’ve had in over 12 years. Crispy, flavorful, and totally worth the hype.
🌱 They accommodate a ton of dietary restrictions.
🍽️ Portion sizes? Generous.
🌿 Food? Incredibly fresh and delicious.
🏡 Location? Adorable.
🚗 Parking? A bit tricky, but it’s the only “meh” part.
🪑 Inside? Cozy, charming, and quiet enough to actually enjoy a conversation.
If you’re in Raleigh and want something amazing, run—don’t walk—to Irregardless.

Food was good. We got their beignets and some breakfast stacker crepes. My Celiac wife forgot to tell them that she was gluten free so they had to remake the dish for her. They were very nice about it. Only reason for lack of star was server wasn’t very attentive and forgot silverware

There aren't enough words to say how fantastic this local grocery store is! Not only do they do their best to source locally, but they have a ton of Gluten Free and Plant-Based Vegan options to choose from.
They have a juice bar in the back, as well as a decent dog section. The brands that they carry for pet food is top notch. And they carry local Fox Farms & Forage mushrooms to boot.
I got lucky enough to end up being one of the owners and she is highly knowledgeable and friendly. All of the staff that I ran across in the store were the same. When it comes to grocery shopping, this is definitely going to be one of my regular go-to's, even though it's not as close to me. If you haven't checked this place out yet, you are definitely missing out!

This bakery was such a gem to find! The inside is super cute, and they offer a nice variety of products—including some vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free options. Usually, they have about 1 to 3 flavors available that meet those needs, but they can sell out quickly, so I recommend ordering ahead or stopping by earlier in the day.
My favorite is their vegan, gluten-free strawberry cupcake—it tastes like there's real jam mixed into the frosting. You can really taste the strawberry throughout, and it's just the right balance of sweetness.
That said, one thing to note: they store the gluten-free cupcakes on the top shelf of the display with non-gluten-free items, which could be an issue for people with celiac disease or serious cross-contamination concerns. Also, there have been a couple of times when the cupcake quality wasn't consistent, which was disappointing—but most of the time, they taste great.
The frosting is on the sweeter side and very generously applied. If you're not big on sweet frosting, I actually recommend saving some to spread on other baked goods (I do that!) or sandwiching the cupcake by cutting it in half.
I've also had coffee from here, and I've never had a bad reaction to any of their drinks or baked goods. Just a heads-up: there's limited street parking nearby, and it's paid—so plan ahead if you're driving.
Overall, a lovely spot worth checking out—with just a few things to keep in mind if you have dietary restrictions.

Finding this bakery was a gem! The interior is gorgeous, and they offer a wide variety of products, including vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free options. They usually have one to three flavors available that cater to those needs, but they sell out quickly, so I recommend ordering in advance or stopping by early.
My favorite is their vegan and gluten-free strawberry cupcake—it tastes like it has real jam mixed into the frosting. You can taste the strawberry flavor throughout the cupcake, and it has the perfect balance of sweetness.
That said, one thing to note: they store the gluten-free cupcakes on the top shelf of the display case alongside the gluten-free ones, which could be an issue for people with celiac disease or serious cross-contamination issues. Also, there have been a couple of occasions where the quality of the cupcakes has been inconsistent, which was disappointing, but most of the time, they are delicious.
The frosting is quite sweet and applied very well. If you're not a big fan of sweet frosting, I recommend saving some to spread on other cakes (I do!) or cutting the cupcake in half.

In short, a lovely place worth visiting, with a few things to keep in mind if you have dietary restrictions.

I met a client here for a morning coffee meeting and it was a great experience. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
The entire restaurant is gluten free, which was fantastic to learn. They do have some vegan drink and food options, but not many. Macadamia and Almond milk are the plant milk options.
I got a hot Golden Latte and added a shot of espresso. It was delicious!
My client got a smoothie bowl, which she loved. Please note that all of the smoothies contain whey protein so they are NOT vegan, but you can ask for the plant protein as a swap instead.
Overall, the atmosphere and experience were very enjoyable. The only thing that would make this place better was if they incorporated more inherently vegan/ plant based options in order to cater to a wider variety of people.

Decent cappuccino and breakfast sandwich with gluten free bread was great! Service was very fast! Went in on a Tuesday around 830am. Place was very busy, all tables full, four or five people ahead of me in line and others waiting for orders, and I was still in and out in less than 10 minutes. They had counterculture and black and white coffee available. Roast dates on available whole bean coffee bags were within a week.

After staying in Raleigh for the weekend, we were able to acclimate to the food climate in the downtown area and overall very impressed with the options.
Our visit to heirloom was for brunch, it is in a nice location with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, as well as bike racks. The Japanese omelet over rice was an incredible dish that satisfied the morning appetite. The sauce was salty and sweet and complemented the kewpie mayo and egg perfectly. Such an incredible dish that is so simple as well. The breakfast baguette was also a hit, great quality bread and the bacon was crispy and flavorful.
Unfortunately, I was in the mood for a donut so I tried the mochi gluten free donut they had. This was the biggest mistake of my trip, it was the worst donut I’ve had the misfortune of putting in my mouth. The texture was so tough and the flavor was even worse. Stick to gluten donuts.
I still give this place 5 stars since the main dishes were that good, cool place and decent price.

The Littlest Tea Room, hidden inside Little Native Coffee, is an absolute gem!! My mom and I took my almost 5 year old daughter for tea on a Friday afternoon, and we had a wonderful experience! Our server, Carter, was very friendly and accommodating. I needed gluten free options, and was given scones, tea cookies, madeleines, crackers and spreads, and they were all delicious. The space is so unique and cozy, and the service is excellent — we will definitely be back!!

When you enter there are a couple stairs to reach the counter. There are lots of yummy treats available. Many pastries. Prices are between $4 and $10. They have a couple gluten free options but no gluten free pastry. There are multiple coffee options. I had an Americano and it was good. My son really enjoyed the fruit pastry he got. It had custard and strawberry type preserves. Well baked and flaky. There are 2 restrooms available. The one I used was clean. The one complaint is that it was hot inside. They could enjoy the use of the air conditioner more to make patrons more comfortable.

Hit and miss. Typically order on Friday afternoons as family treat. Sometimes gluten free items taste fresh and other Fridays my GF brownies are hard and dry, GF lava cake hard and cold, while GF guava muffins overly sweet even for a sweet tooth like mine its too sugary. Also a hit and miss with Chow Hound delivery coupons that are not honored as told that bakery is not responsible for any coupon code irregularities. Hope for more consistency in product quality as when they are fresh, they are good.
