I am always very happy with my experience here, the coffee, the gluten-free baked goods (Sweetened with maple syrup!!), and my chats with the owner. Definitely buy their beans if you're a coffee conoseur! Thank you for actually fulfilling my request for an "extra hot" beverage!
If you have Celiac you should avoid this place. I was looking forward to trying the Samosa’s here as I called in and was told they are prepared seperately. I had the samosa’s with chickpeas, the samosa’s themselves tasted greated however I had a reaction right after eating here.
If you have celiac I would avoid eating here as there is some sort of cross contamination happening.
We asked a family friend for a few recommendations for restaurants near white rock and his response was Afghan Kitchen was his personal favorite.
We tried it and our party of 7 absolutely loved the food. Highly recommend the lamb shank, and lamb/beed/chicken kabobs.
You can tell the food is prepared and served with the kind of care and love only a family owned establishment can provide.
We had 3 gluten free diners and the menu is extremely GF friendly - including a GF version of Mum’s secret cake that was off the charts.
We will definitely be back!

Great restaurant! Servers and hosts are all very friendly, kind and welcoming. Food was great and the Zero proof beverages were refreshing with a nice decoration :) They have variety of entrees as well, my favorite was definitely the Avocado dip which was sooo flavorful!!! They have many main dish options, vegetarian and vegan. I believe they have gluten free options as well which is awesome! The place itself was beautiful, really cozy but also fancy. I will definitely come back to eat here, loved my visit!
Thank you 🤎
I had SOME expectations when coming here for a date night with my husband. Extremely disappointing. We sat down near the bar, and quickly realized how suffocating the area was. Our waiter, who didn't introduce himself, turned it on just after we asked why the air was so dense. The waiter, who never introduced himself by the way, offered no timely service. We had longbreaks between drinks appetizers and main course. He was standing just near the bar so he could see We had empty glasses and plates, but there was lack of interest. Then came time to order the main course and I was asked which sauces I'd like with my fries. I chose truffle and it cost me extra without me knowing I was purchasing some additions.
Appetizers, we got the fritters which was pretty good! But the gluten burger was just mediocre.
When it came to the bill, the waiter pressurized us to stop eating and make the payment. I have seen this before in other restaurants but waiters are very careful when disrupting a meal to get a payment thru.
I dont recommend this place simply because the owner doesn't seem to be around so the waiter seems to think he doesn't need to do his job.
There was one female waiter as well(dont know her namw), but just to be clear she was the only good thing about this restaurant. She was kind, responsive, and showed some interest. If this place stays afloat it's due to the appetizers and the nice young lady who picked up the slack.
My family and I had a great experience. With the exception of root beer, there was something on the menu for all of us. A lot of gluten free options as well as Vegan and plant based. Good healthy and delicious options as well. And then there was the burgers that were very satisfying. Really nice restaurant. Option of sitting where it's quiet or in the lounge where there's a great social vibe going on.
WOW! Hands down the best gluten-free crust I have EVER tried. It’s so chewy and doughy and not like the cardboard many gf eaters are used to. Their chef is from Italy and hand makes the gf dough himself. It’s the kind of dough that will have you double checking you ordered gluten free. Incredible.
I tried the Soprasetta and the Chicken Pesto and both were delicious. Just the right amount of sauce and toppings, exactly how it’s supposed to be.
Wonderful customer service as well. The owner is an absolute gem. I had a previous miscommunication trying to order over the phone and he did everything in his power to make it right. That kind of special treatment goes a long way and isn’t the kind of service you can get anywhere else.
Unfortunately for my waist line, I will probably be ordering here once a week at least. Haha
I have been at this location many times, and has always been a positive experience. I just ordered the Chicken Santa Fe Salad, and I left a note mentioning my dietary restrictions as a Celiac. I really appreciate the staff member who took the time to write a hand written message letting me know that they got my note about being Celiac, and confirmed that the tortilla strips on the top were gluten free! It probably took little time, but made me feel a lot more confident enjoying my meal. And of course, the salad was a 10/10!!!
Without a doubt the best Lebanese food in the lower mainland, the Falafel is always freshly made and from scratch compared to powdered premixed falafel other competitors serve , the ingredients are of good quality , the service is relatively fast considering the fact that your eating freshly cooked food , there are many good deals like the party trays and different platters and so many meat , vegetarian and gluten free options, the portions are very generous.
With the global increase in food cost , the meals are priced well . I`m lucky to live few minutes away , I frequently eat there or order trays for events , I have tried all items on the menu and everything tasted delicious , I also visit Mouneh next door for authentic lebanese and middle eastern food supplies and in house baked goods , you should give it a try .
Had an amazing experience at Earls Grandview on Thursday night! Our server, Hayley, was fantastic—attentive and friendly. Austin, the guest experience manager on duty, went above and beyond by comping two desserts when they found out we were celebrating something. The food was incredible—steak frites were better than The Keg, and the sushi tacos and pizzas were delicious. The new plant based burger (perfect for my vegan husband) was much better than the processed impossible burger they used to have. (Good job on the switch Earls!!!). They also had great gluten-aware options, which was perfect for my daughter who was recently diagnosed with gluten intolerance, and myself who has a GF prefercence. The mocktails were refreshing and creative and the prosecco was delicious. Outstanding service and food—we’ll definitely be back!
I really enjoy the pho here and I am celiac. They have a lot of safe gluten free options that are clear from cross contamination as they do take allergies seriously. My favourite pho is the Bun Bo Hue it has a ton of amazing flavour and sometimes I find myself ordering it 3 times a week. I get it without the chicken balls as they have gluten in them but they give me extra rare beef and brisket instead. They use high quality meat and the thick noodles are very nice. It’s some of the best flavoured pho that I have ever had. The service is great and the owners are very friendly.
Had my first visit to Hawthorne’s Beer Market, and it certainly won’t be my last! This spot has an awesome local pub vibe, with a welcoming atmosphere and exceptionally friendly service. The staff truly go above and beyond to make you feel at home.
As someone who eats gluten-free, I was blown away by their amazing GF pizza—perfectly crispy, flavorful, and loaded with quality toppings. Plus, they offer a great selection of gluten-free options, which is a huge win.
Looking forward to coming back and enjoy the patio this summer! If you’re looking for a laid-back, welcoming pub with great food and drinks, Hawthorne’s is a must-visit.
I have to this place a few times over the past few weeks for business meetings. I was so impressed I took my wife for dinner tonight. Again great food and service. My wife has gluten allergies so we had the gluten friendly crust. The best gluten friendly pizza around.
We love this pizza place. Pizza is always delicious with fresh ingredients. Our go to pizza is the tandoori paneer pizza with ginger and cilantro. Their gluten free base tastes amazing as well.
I went for the first time a couple days ago, very busy place , I had come on the Victoria Day weekend and there was a wait list , so came back earlier morning the next day and got in fine. I found the food was great and a very reasonable plateful so to speak. The service was excellent, the kitchen took a while, like 20 min between ordering and food, so don't go in a rush on a busy day. Actually my main point is that I appreciate the "55 and over" reduced meal price on the half dozen fixed option menu they have for the price of a breakfast, lunch or supper meal...great idea ... It was certainly enough for a moderate appetite...
I also appreciate that they have gluten free pancakes ...
The coffee may cost a bit more than " Timmies" but they leave you a fresh, hot, insulated coffee " urn" to just refill your own coffee to your heart's content rather than trying to catch the waitresses eye.
An oat milk dairy alternative would be good, they just have cream or milk...
The booths are super comfy. It's a chain but the staff seem very organized and run more like a family restaurant in my books. They give the tables a good clean between clients.
August 2023 add'n I'd just add that your ave bill will definately be over 20 with a meal and a drink, for most of the menu. However, they have lower cost meals for " over 55." Which I had for this original review.
Also I have since discovered they have early specials for any age before 9 a.m.
Also on the way out I noticed a neon handwritten sign about " children eat free" but didn't get the details. I'll post the " before 9 a.m. " shirt menu and an updated general menu with the " over 55 " choices, a bit smaller but what would still be within a normal sized meal vs gargantuan portions
Overall I was very impressed for a restaurant offering traditional breakfast , lunch and supper. Opens nice and early , closes 8 pm , breakfast offered.
I’ve been going thru some major digestive/health issues and was on the hunt for gluten free bread that had appropriate ingredients such as no vinegar, etc. Felt defeated as most places have so many ingredients that just were not on my tolerance list… until Michaels, they have a gluten free bread with only 3 ingredients which has been amazing and a life saver while being so restrictive with diet, appreciate how they take care to ensure quality.
I visited this cafe for the first time with a friend for lunch. It was busy but they had good social distancing measures in place. The cafe has a cute and modern decor with clean and bright interiors. The food was fresh and they had a variety of gluten-free options. I tried the chili chicken sandwich and baileys latte, both of which were delicious. I would highly recommend this place to everyone and I plan to come back to try more items from their menu.
I booked Hugo’s catering for an event and got a lot of positive feedback from my guests. The taco buffet had a good selection of fillings and toppings, the portions were good and the food tasted fresh. Hugo’s offers dairy free, gluten free and vegetarian options, so everyone’s dietary needs were considered. The delivery was on time and everything was warm and ready to eat. I also added a margarita kit and churros for dessert- both were a hit. I would recommend for your event!
The only gluten free burger is a veggie burger which tasted gross.
I was misled by reviews saying there are multiple gluten free options.
Please add gluten free burger meat to your menu or don't advertise gluten free burgers.
A veggie burger is just not the same!
Called ahead to make sure they had gluten free crust. You can't tell it's gf compared to wheat. Tastes the same! Unfortunately one olive in my pizza still had a pit. Unexpected crunch. Otherwise the food was tasty. The salad had these really nice greens. It wasn't busy today or any of my previous visits. There is a patio on the side of you want to sit outside. I hope they hang in there.
They have a lot of gluten free options, the pizza was so good! The chicken sandwich fell apart with the gluten free bread but the appetizers, the dessert, and the pizza were amazing! Had great service as well! Fair portions, a cool vibe, and a very overall great experience! Will definitely come back!
We absolutely love this restaurant- for its unique menu, delicious food, and for their wide range of gluten free options! We are from out of town, but visit every summer NUMEROUS times each year!
It was really fun to find a great breakfast place on our vacation where our entire family could enjoy a nice selection, including many gluten-free options. The food was quite delicious and the quality was excellent!!! We came back the next day because we loved the experience so much. The restaurant was very clean and charming, too. If we're ever back in the area, we will definitely be back for some more tasty food!
Excellent pizza. We always order a gluten free crust, and it's gotta be the best one around.
It's also a very clean location, and every employee seems upbeat, and provide generally good service.
I highly recommend, and am Thankful we discovered this place 👍👍
Best local East Indian food I've honestly ever eaten, and almost everything is gluten free.
The staff are amazing, the restaurant is clean, and the food is beyond delicious.
So glad we found Belle’s. It truly is a gem. We’d driven by so many times and didn’t even register it was there.
They make really great coffees and iced teas. Dairy free alternatives available.
They have so many homemade treats and some good options gluten free as well. Sadly they don’t currently have any dairy free/vegan AND gluten free so only one of us has been able to try them.
For the gluten + dairy people - the cinnamon bun, strudel and butter tarts come highly recommended!
I love how spacious the place is. A person could definitely hunker down and spend a lot of time enjoying food/drinks to stay.
They also have a nice patio with shade and sun options.
The staff is nice and friendly.
This is a great neighbourhood spot and it’s so nice to support a local and independent business versus the chain coffee shops in the area!
The entire meal, all my friend and I could say were expletives around every bite. We couldn't believe how incredible the food was. By far the best Mexican food I've ever had in Vancouver!!! Our server (possibly the owner?) was incredibly nice, warm, and inviting—and you could tell she was really proud of the place. Portions were great and the pricing was so reasonable! The Al Pastor tacos were incredible with amazing flavour! The Carnitas taco was also really good and would order again, but the Al Pastor totally stole the show. Amazing chicken enchiladas with beans and rice. Also tried Pupusas for the first time and they were also incredible!! Also I'm celiac and have to be strict gluten free, and had no concerns at this restaurant. Already planning when I can go back
The brand of Gluten Free tortilla they use is Tofayan. They stay soft even after being in the fridge overnight, I even ate it cold. This location is good about preventing cross contamination and their website has a break down on what has what allergens.
Monty Mushroom™ Burger
100% fresh Canadian beef burger with Jack cheese, roasted mushrooms, lettuce, tomato & Triple “O” sauce.
With a gluten-friendly bun. It was so tasty 😋. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Such a wonderful experience this evening! Their new menu has SO many gluten free options it was almost overwhelming for a celiac like myself- I may have ordered 4 items! 🙈
Our server Sunny was lovely, such a great personality and clearly loved her job and was so happy to help make sure my food was safe and gluten free.
Pool tables were great fun and atmosphere was all you want in a pub/restaurant.
Will definitely be making many returns!
All Around Pizza used to be my go-to cheap pizza place. Excellent quality for the price, with the pizza always cooked fully.
However, I ordered once on Uber Eats. My experience with them and their management team was embarrassing. Firstly, they didn't have a 2L of Diet Pepsi so they substituted 3 cans instead. The price is similar, yes, but you get so much less pop due to bulk buying. This alone is thievery. They also hadn't set their app correctly. I ordered large gluten free pizzas. They later informed me that gluten free is medium only, and they offered me 3 dips for my 3 GF pizzas. That's 3 dips in place of a $15 surcharge. Absolutely abysmal service and the team should be fined to the point of bankruptcy and have their business licenses suspended.

We ordered a gluten free pizza for someone with celiac disease. Upon coming home, our gluten free pizza was made incorrectly, resulting in no dinner available for our celiac family member. When calling the store, they told us we could receive a free pizza of our choice on our next order, marked on file. We called again tonight, spoke to Reet, to claim our free pizza, in addition to ordering 2 additional pizzas, and were told the discount was not on file and therefore they could not honour it. Reet also offered us no substitution of a discount on our order, because there was nothing written in our file. We tried explaining that having nothing written in file, was simply not our fault. Reet then insinuated that we were lying about the discount because it was not on file. She also stated that we might have already used the discount, once again assuming dishonesty. We have been customers of this establishment for 10 years. We asked the Reet, what she could do instead of the free pizza, and she said we could have $5 off. $5 off of 3 large pizzas…needless to say we cancelled our order and decided to go to a more deserving establishment. Train your staff, and don’t blame your customer for staff mistakes. I suggest going to Canadian 2 for 1 if you are from the area, amazing kind staff and delicious pizza!
