vancouver’s cutest (and tastiest) ice cream sandwich spot! 🍪🍨
Innocent Ice Cream Parlour is such a gem — gluten-free, vegan-friendly, and absolutely packed with flavor. I grabbed a cookie sandwich with chocolate mint ice cream and it blew me away.
The cookies are soft, the ice cream is rich, and the vibe is super cozy with its pink-themed decor. Great spot for a late-night treat!
Staff were friendly and helpful, and the fact that it’s allergy-conscious makes it a go-to for everyone.
Highly recommend if you're craving something sweet, stylish, and inclusive.
Let me start with “I don’t leave a review very often”.
We ate at Sopra Sotto two nights in a row it was that good. The first night we took a seat at the bar rather than wait for a table and the second night we asked to sit at the bar because of the wonderful service and interactions we had with Ruairi. Ruairi not only entertained us while we watched him making multiple cocktails but he also made great menu recommendations. The Gnocchi with Braised Beef, Rigatoni Fume Pasta and Lava Chocolate dessert were amazing.
This is the best restaurant we have been to in seven weeks of travelling.
The name of the restaurant is misleading because whilst the pizzas looked amazing it has quite an extensive variety of pasta, antipasti and desserts with a great wine list and cocktails.
I ordered gluten free pasta and desert to share with my husband and he couldn’t tell the difference….their gluten free options are that good.
Absolutely amazing experience 😍 the injera was perfectly soft and fluffy. And the gluten free version was even better! The Yebeg wot and th vegetarian wots were delectable! The lentil with tomatoes sauce was my favorite 🤤
And the servers were so sweet! They're so attentive and friendly. They gave us scooping spoons to help scoop up the leftovers. Would definitely come back and bringing my friends. More people need to try Ethiopian food!
Food was great. They do gluten free batter and its amazing amazing! Its not often I get to have battered fish and chips so a great treat. Proper chips too and mushy peas. Yum! I will be back.
We where served so well by the staff esp Ashwanth. The food was awesome and gluten free allergy was well taken care off. Highly recommend for ambience and Tasty Indian food.
Gluten free heaven. You need to try their pancakes! Great portions, great prices and great flavors. The staff are always lovely too.
Be prepared to wait 15-20 minutes at busy times like Saturday morning. But it's well worth the wait!
One of the healthiest delicious middle eastern food I have had in a while! I was a bit hesitant to visit due to mixed reviews here and I am so happy I listened to my instincts and visited this gem of a restaurant today. The service and food was beyond incredible!
The restaurant is so cozy and spacious. Ample street parking available and my sister has celiac allergy for diary and gluten, so we were also able to get customized food based on her restrictions.
Quite simply, the most amazing "home-cooked feel" food one could possibly imagine. Vegan, gluten-free. Whatever magic they are cooking with here, is 🔥. 10/10 would recommend.
5 stars
Havana on Commercial Drive is an absolute gem in Vancouver! 🌟🇨🇺 From the moment we walked in, the energy was buzzing ⚡ — warm, vibrant, and so welcoming. The décor is colorful 🎨, the music is lively 🎶, and the whole vibe just feels like a mini vacation! ☀️🌴 Perfect for date night ❤️, casual hangouts 🍻, or even solo chill time.
Food:
We went all in — and wow. 🤤 We had the Cubano sandwich 🥪, pulled pork tacos 🌮, and plantain chips with guac 🍌🥑 to start. Every bite = flavor explosion. 💥 The Cubano was perfectly pressed and cheesy 🧀, the tacos were juicy and fresh, and those plantains… dreamy. Don’t skip dessert either — the churros were warm, crispy, and dipped in chocolate heaven 🍫🔥.
Drinks:
Cocktails were on point — we tried the Mojito 🍃🍸 and the Havana Old Fashioned 🥃. So refreshing and bold. Bartenders here know their craft. 👨🍳👏
Service:
Service was amazing! 🙌 Everyone we met was friendly 😄, super helpful, and genuinely passionate about the place. Shoutout to our server for solid recos and great vibes the whole time ✨💬
Atmosphere:
Cozy inside 🛋️, but the patio is a total vibe 🌇🔥. It’s heated, covered, and perfect for people-watching on The Drive. Great music, cool art on the walls 🖼️, and the whole place has that laid-back but buzzing feel.
Pro tips:
• 📅 Book ahead on weekends — it gets packed!
• 🍳 Check out brunch — it’s a hidden gem.
• 🥗 Plenty of veggie + gluten-free options!
• 🎭 Bonus: there’s a theatre in the back for local performances. So cool!
Final thoughts:
This spot gets it. ✅ Food slaps, drinks hit, staff rules, and the vibe is immaculate. 💯
Havana is easily one of my fav spots on The Drive.
Food: 10/10
Drinks: 10/10
Service: 10/10
Vibe: 11/10
Run, don’t walk.
🌮✨🍹🍽️🔥🌴🎉💃🕺💯
Can’t wait to go back!
Sushi was okay. I’ve had better. Didn’t taste super fresh, but it was alright. Nice to have gluten free options. Forgot to include chop sticks in my bag, and since I am travelling and staying at a hotel, I had to use my fingers, not ideal, but not the end of the world. I’d try somewhere else next time. Staff was not overly friendly.
Brother ordered the Lamb Shank $36
Mother ordered the Wild Salmon Salad $15-17
Myself ordered the Pork Belly Bowl $20
Order Total came out to be about $76
Service was good. Kept refilling our water.
Atmosphere didn't match the food because it made me think more of a Bar Grill rather than an Asian fusion restaurant.
The Food made us feel like we tossed money for mostly Salad.
Lamb Shank Dish has no Rice, Just a bone with a tiny bit of meat on top of a bed of Salad. This felt like the most rip off scam of them all. For something very highly priced. You can go to other surrounding restaurants for Lamb, same portions for a 1/3rd of the price.
Wild Salmon Salad. Thin slices of salmon on top a bed of Salad. Crunched up peanuts and Edamame.
With the portion ratio. At the same price you can get Fish and Chips. Offering you more substantially more portion to fill your stomach.
Pork Belly Bowl. For something Gluten Sensitive. There's barely any Rice nor Pork Belly. 3 slices of pork belly, a bit of salad and rice lesser than a small bowl that goes for less than $5. $20 just makes you feel guilty for eating there not in a good way at all.
Aesthetically the food is pleasing to the eyes in terms of appearance. Portion and ratio of ingredients are very poor. The Plating doesn't make up for how much money was thrown out of our pockets.
One of the tastiest hot wing sauces i've ever had and those pizza croissant.Things were really really delicious. Even my gluten intolerant girlfriend scarfed it down and loved it
My son and daughter in law took me here for my birthday. We had reservations and were warmly greeted at the door. The old rustic Italian ambience was very inviting. We started out with a Buffalo Mozzarella appertif and the tomatoes were very refreshing. I had the Veal Parmigiano with pasta. The portion of veal was amazing. The flavour of the tomato sauce brought back memories of Sunday dinners at my Zia's when families and neighbours got together for dinner. My son had the Pennette Al Salmone Offumicatto which he said he loves so much he orders all the time. My DIL the Gluten Free Fettuccine Alla Puttanesca. She said the noodles were some of the best GF noodles she has had. The service was great! Would highly recommend!
Best breakfast diner around. So friendly, accommodated my wife's gluten allergy, and all home made. We’ve lived in the region for 10 years, and searched for that classic diner that makes us and our tummies feel at home. The Red Wagon is by far the freshest, best classic breakfast served. In house smoked meats, fresh bread, jams and amazing corn bread.
A unique dining expereince with wonderful and attentive staff, serving delicious food crafted with conscientiousness and care. They easily accommodated their tasting menu to be gluten free.
The food was amazing! And the staff were phenomenal under such busy conditions.
We were accommodated as walk ins (we were there 10-15 mins prior to dinner service opening) and the staff sat us at the bar.
My wife and I are both gluten intolerant, and the staff were so accommodating.
The cocktails were fantastic.
One of the best dining experiences we’ve had from every perspective: quality of food, friendliness of the wait and bar staff and the excellent drinks.
Made our stay in Vancouver a lot better!
4Bros provides a solid north American slice 🍕 they nail classics like pepperoni and garlic cheese, but they also serve local favourites like blue cheese & beef.
The crust is crispy with a glutenous bounce.
It's not New York style, or neapolitan, it's just a solid street slice.
The food is so yummy. Always fast and hot and fresh. Very friendly service also. Thom Ka Gai is my favourite soup. There are lots of gluten free options for which I am grateful. 😋
My favourite gf Pizza in the city. PLEASE stop charging extra for gluten free. It’s so awful for us celiacs who did not chose this diet. We already sacrifice taste, quality and bread size. We will never eat a croissant again. Please don’t charge us.
Was in town for my husband's birthday and got the pistachio San Rival cake because my husband is gluten free. Called them and they were so helpful when ordering. The cake looked beautiful and tasted so amazing. Highly recommend this business.
I love ordering off their website because it has better deals than any of the delivery apps. The gluten free is phenomenal, love the added texture of sesame seeds and the choices for veggie are better than anywhere else. I ordered and not even 20 mins later it was at my door at peak hours. Love Uncle Fatih
Had the buttered chicken. As a celiac they said to let the kitchen know and they will make sure its gluten-free 100%. And it was! and it was tasty. Great service...music a bit loud for conversation. But maybe thats because im old. Thanks for the great experience
Quaint little place! Sweetest owner. HF rice noodles in pho, vermicelli. Separate fryer for gluten free spring rolls- a little too crispy for me but still good
We booked this on Open Table a day before as we actually wanted Vivace but they closed and Nonna's took over the spot so we booked Nonna's.
Our reservation clearly stated gluten and dairy allergy but nobody bothered to check it until 45 minutes before when they called to tell us they don't have anything to fit the allergies. We had scramble to find another restaurant on a Saturday night in the summer.
At least the lady that called was apologetic, polite and efficient and called to at least save us going there.
We appreciate they are a pop up and don't have a full menu but they need to communicate with their guests properly.
My husband and I went to Marcello for date night dinner and it was amazing. I have quite a few allergies to food, and while it was a risk to go without calling ahead and asking if they could accommodate, they did not disappoint. The recommended a colognes sauce with their gluten free pasta and it was amazing!!!!! Best GF pasta I have EVER had!!!!!! Our server was amazing! All of the staff were friendly. My husband asked our server for a pizza recommendation and he LOVED it. It was the one with artichokes, ham, and salami and more. Soooo good!!!!!! We will go back again.
Warning celiacs/gluten intolerance/gluten allergy- They will say they can’t accommodate gf tacos because the tortilla warmer apparently has flour all over it. A simple wipe down before the gf tortillas are warmed would more than suffice. Especially with the heat.
I appreciate the concern but I’d rather be informed about the risk of cross contamination, and then letting me make my own choice, rather than the person flat out refusing to make the thing for me. Let us advocate for ourselves. I promise it will be better for business. The way I was told was basically like: “oh you’re celiac? I don’t want the liability” which is super alienating and obviously from an uneducated viewpoint.
Celiacs/gluten intolerance/gluten allergies (all totally different diagnoses, with different risks) —are also different in the way they present and a lot of the time (for me especially) a little bit of cross contamination is fine. You could also be a little more committed to accommodating gf in general. Corn tortillas and wraps are widely available- I guarantee we don’t want the burrito bowls anymore we are so done with it.
I dined at Sunrise with a friend with Celiac. He asked if the steak would be ok for someone with Celiac. The server checked with the kitchen and came back and said, "yes it will be ok". And it was. 👍 so often restaurants claim to be able to cook Celiac safe foods, but dont - leaving him extremely sick. Sunrise cooked a delicious Celiac safe steak. The rest of us enjoyed our pizza.
..
Lots of brunch options! Ordered the seafood Benny (one with crab cakes the other with smoked salmon) and shared the gluten free spanakopita and both were delicious! We were a larger group and everyone enjoyed their meal and drinks!
Service was prompt and the music was perfect for brunch - funky and fun but not too loud. Definitely will return!
