I had heard a lot about Legal Sea Food and had been advised to try it out especially as they pride themselves in gluten free fish fry and have other fried items all dedicated gf .
We started with the house sangrias : one red & one white . Refreshing especially on a hot and humid summer evening .
Ordered the classic fish and chips prepared gluten free (no pictured) and the cod that was salt-vinegar crusted with a bed of bacon slaw , potato wedges and a lightly mustard remoulade. Delicious dish . Fish was perfectly cooked and crispy . The sauce was just right and tied it all together .
Staff was a bit slow but there was a huge amount of people during peak times so they tried to keep up . I could have had more sangrias but it was a little hard to flag staff down . Not a big concern . The food was excellent !
Although I had been told no reservations were needed I was glad I made them in advanced as the place was hoping and can get a little loud .
Very nice experience will be back next time in Boston
Having visited this establishment on several occasions, I have consistently found the food to be delightful. My nephew and I often encounter challenges in locating dining options that cater to our dietary needs, as he has a gluten allergy and I have a dairy allergy. However, the staff here have always been incredibly friendly, kind, and accommodating. The food is consistently served promptly and prepared to perfection. I would certainly recommend this place for a quick and enjoyable meal.
Homemade GF pasta and mozzarella sticks!!! Yes please!! My sister and I both have celiac and our waiter put us at ease right away, letting us know that the gluten-free food was prepared in a separate area. I did have my 10 year old niece with me. She was not as appreciative of the menu. There were not many options for her as a child.
Great selection of gluten free treats. I was thrilled how much care the server took and my meal even had a little toothpick that said gluten free. So reassuring!

My husband thought the seared seafood scallops was amazing. I was really looking forward to gluten free dishes I can't have all the time. However, I thought the gluten free mac and cheese was less than desirable. The noodles were not quite done, the cheese was melted in and that was it. No spices or creamieness to the dish. Lobster is always good. I'm sad that I paid $38 for that dish. My son had a good burger with a gf bun.
Went here for a lunch-dinner date after a hospital appointment and got steak to celebrate some good health. It was so good! Shoutout to the dedicated gluten free menu, which was very helpful. It’s not cheap — if you order apps and mains you’ll find yourself racking up a bill. I split an app (the gf buffalo cauliflower for $16 I believe) with my boyfriend and we each got an entree and a drink and the bill was about $100 after tip. But damn was that steak good
Waitress was unattentive, we did not get water or condiments. Instead of asking what substitute I wanted l the waitress had it made unseasoned when there were several gluten free options listed on the menu. My husband waited 30+ minutes for her to walk by to ask for salt.
If the fries are made in a gluten free fryer then likely they are all gluten free. But ***Stomach definitely feels like it found some gluten a couple hours after eating though which is only uncomfortable for me but I’d triple check if you are celiac***! I can’t prove this but it’s a gut ;) feeling. Kind of a bummer if so.
Had the fish and chips. Prices are comparable to the regular restaurant (29 vs 33). The waitress scooped the fries from the large bowls of fries and in my opinion could have been more generous. But the fish was good and it was all fresh and hot.
Really cool place, easy to do a takeout order. Lots of parking around. I had the Gluten free fish and chips with fries. Pretty good, but not excellent. I was glad to find gluten free, dairy free and soy free in Boston.
I recently dined at Boston Ale House and had a fantastic experience. The food was delicious, offering a diverse range of options, including impressive gluten-free choices. The ambience was welcoming and enhanced the overall dining atmosphere. A special shoutout to our waitress, Juliana, whose exceptional service and attentiveness added to the enjoyment of our evening. Highly recommend this place for a satisfying dining experience.
