We had gone to a different place but it wasn’t opened but then we spotted this place was opened so we went here instead - so glad we did. It smelt great from the outside and it was very cosy inside. We were welcomed by someone friendly and sat at a nice table in the window. The menu had a lot of variety and choice. Including vegetarian, gluten free, and low spice options. The person serving us was very attentive and kind. We were not too sure what something was so she got a little dish of spice from the kitchen for us. I ordered a dish I had never had before and it was so tasty and delicious! We were all asked for the spice level that we wanted and our dishes really felt like they were made for us. There was also complimentary popadoms with sauce. We enjoyed the experience and will be back! Great service.

I have only had Indian food in Halifax at one restaurant and usually had only 2 or 3 different dishes. The fine people at the new Sagar Ratan, seeing I wanted to learn and explore new flavours, introduced me to their menu, explaining the nuances of the dishes, and making sure I enjoyed every bite -- and that my gluten sensitivity was looked after. These folks are so welcoming, attentive and caring. My friends who dined with me felt the same.
