Visited here for a birthday dinner the night before a Fever game. Amazing dining experience, top notch service. The staff were very accommodating with my gluten free and dairy free needs.
Amazing atmosphere with unique and stunning surrounds! Old shoe factory reclaimed for a great restaurant. Aside from the architectural feast, the food and service are outstanding!! Ordered the Jumbo Lobster and Crab Ravioli and ordered the zero-proof Tropical Dreamsicle. Delicious!! They were accommodating to both gluten allergies (I don't have) but also offer smaller portion menus for any anyone like seniors, kids, or bariatric patients with NO HASSLE!
The coolest building. The atmosphere is something out a movie, very rich wood colors and comfortable lighting. We ate in one of the back rooms, our server was to the point and whitty—a true master of their craft.
We haven’t sat down for a real steak ever, mostly because of price. But St. Elmo justified every penny I spent, the cut was spectacular and I’d like to shout out their attentiveness to my fiancé’s gluten allergy. They were thorough and made sure she had a lovely dinner also.
Excited for many more visits !

Extra thick cut, 98% fat free, and cured well. Best of all, it's gluten free for a person with celiac disease like me. What am I talking about? It's Kirkland's Signature Premium Extra Thick Steak Strips, of course! You can't go wrong with this food package for a car trip to a city like Indianapolis for a convention you've been looking forward to attending for over six years.
It especially hits the spot after you've been waiting over 3 hours for food at a restaurant that, once delivered, wasn't cooked properly and didn't match your order nor met your dietary restrictions that you asked about (and which was never answered by staff). But don't worry, Kirkland's Steak Strips won't put you in the hospital - they're already cooked, ready and safe to eat. Kirkland's Steak Strips are so good even at 10pm, after a long evening of waiting for an order that actually got cancelled by an inept Liquid Death-chugging manager after yourself and your friends expressed concerns over your wait countless times, being told again and again that it would just be 5 more minutes until your food arrived.
But you know what you don't have to wait for? Kirkland's Steak Strips. They're always ready for you, sealed in that snazzy black bag and packed with a blast of flavorful protein. Costco is there for those who care about what they eat and want to have a good time chowing down. For everyone else - especially in Indianapolis - there's Punch Bowl Social, where you can go to play a tournament of Exploding Kittens at your table and eat... well, as it turned out for me, absolutely nothing!
I honestly don’t understand how this place has a 4.5-star rating. The pizza was incredibly underwhelming—definitely not the “fire” experience some reviews suggest. It’s overpriced for the quality, and the service left much to be desired.
We ordered a sausage and pepperoni calzone, and it was disappointing. The dough was under-cooked, making it doughy and unpleasant to eat. After just a few bites, we had to stop—it was that bad. We also tried the 8" deep dish pepperoni and cheese pizza. Unfortunately, it was loaded with an excessive amount of cheese that wasn’t even fully melted. The texture was off, and the whole thing just felt heavy and sloppy.
I opted to try the gluten-free cauliflower crust pizza, hoping for a better experience, but again, I was let down. The cheese wasn’t fully melted, and the crust was burnt on the bottom—clearly not checked before being served.
The restaurant itself needs serious attention. It wasn’t busy when we visited, so there’s really no excuse for how dirty it was. The floors and tables were sticky, and it looked like no one had cleaned in a while. Staff seemed more focused on their phones than on the guests, and it showed in the lack of attentiveness.
As for the bathrooms—absolutely disgusting. They looked like they hadn’t been properly cleaned or maintained in ages. Honestly, I’ve seen cleaner restrooms at truck stops. They need to be gutted and redone entirely.
Save yourself the trip and try somewhere else. If you want to taste real pizza, head to St. Louis. Even a basic chain like Pizza Hut would’ve been a better choice than this place.
I was happy to see that there was a completely separate menu for gluten allergies. However, despite an extensive conversation with the waitress about my allergy, and the menu, and having the separate menu in front of me, I was still served gluten. My bad for trusting how obvious it was that I have an allergy.
Please don’t fire the waitress, she felt terrible. I’m gladly not going to die from it, but it’s sure going to suck. If you have an allergy, I guess repeat it over and over and over. Being annoying is the only way to eat out safely.
My husband and I dined here for dinner and will definitely be back! First off, our waiter was so nice and attentive and communicated with us so well throughout the meal, on how much time it would be, etc. We started with the Gluten (bread) plate and Brussels and Burrata (which comes served over polenta), and hands down the brussels are the best appetizer I've ever had. Then, I had the flat iron which was cooked perfectly and had tons of flavor. My husband had the Short Rib Spacatelli which was also incredible and had plenty of meat with handmade pasta. We finished with the chocolate pot de creme and there wasn't a drop left, it was so delicious. Definitely a great experience all around!

Located in the heart of Circle City, Good Wood is a spacious and family-friendly restaurant known for its burgers, brews, and brunch. The restaurant has a sophisticated bar atmosphere and is split into two sections. The left side has booths and tables, while the right side features a full bar and large TVs. I highly recommend trying the Buffalo cauliflower, chipotle wings, and the delicious chocolate chip ice cream dessert. If you're in the area, make sure to stop by and mention that you heard about it from @travelingfoodieguyde. Enjoy your meal and don't forget to tag me in your pictures and videos!

Why would I come back: Taxman CityWay is a really welcoming space, in a historic 19th-century livery building in downtown Indianapolis. Upscale pub feel with a large beir garden, blocks away from the basketball arena. Old exposed brickwork is beautiful and they have a full bar with a great food menu. After living in Belgium, the founders came back with a deep appreciation for Belgian beers and the culture of neighborhood breweries. Their experience inspired their decision to focus on Belgian-style/inspired ales. The menu features heavy hitters like an 8.5% Triple and a 13.3% imperial stout, but also brings more approachable beers like a Euro Style Pilsner and a rotating IPA. This is an amazing place to enjoy great beer, glad I found it.
