First time and I would come back. I like how unique the place is. It's rare that you go to a restaurant that doesn't have fries on the menu. It was nice and encouraged me to try something new, like the magic mushroom soup. They also offer gluten-freen and vegan options.
The owner, David, was very friendly and accommodating. I am celiac and he assured me that 95% of the menu is gluten free. He offered up additional information on labeling to assure me. I told him I was semi hungry and he recommended the salmon kabobs. It came with two different sauces and rice with a salad. It was fresh and delicious. I will be a new “usual” customer now!
The food here is delicious. The gluten free chocolate torte cake I had when I visited tasted like the version my mother used to make when I was a child. And the breakfast sandwich was heavenly. Light but filling!
I am loving their salads and gluten free pizzas.
Unlike many others, their gluten free pizzas are an indulgence, which is exactly why I eat pizza. Delicious.
Nice assortment of lunch items in a clean, bright environment. Service was friendly and fast. Great selection of local beers, ciders, and other bottled beverages as well as variety of Route 11 chips. Gluten free bread options, and outdoor seating with umbrellas.
Absolutely love this place! We went with my Sunday school class and they were very accommodating. Two in our group are gluten free and they had lots of options for them. The waitress Olivia was great especially for such a big group.
I'm so disappointed in Angelo's today. I attempted to order gluten-free pancakes from them today. It was not on the doordash menu so I called the restaurant and asked if they still had them. I was advised by someone named Chrystal that they did still have them and that it should be on the doordash menu. I advised her that it was not on the doordash menu and she stated that I could go ahead and order regular pancakes and she would make an effort to put the gluten free order to the cook instead. She called back about 10 minutes later and said she could not do that because it would be extra for the gluten-free pancakes. By that time, I had already placed the order on doordash andb it had to gone through. I had to go through I don't know what to get that order canceled and my money refunded. It seems to me that the business establishment would have considered their customer's inconvenience and offered the pancakes cheaper at that point or ask the customer to pay over the phone via debit card for the extra amount of money. It could not have been that much more to inconvenience a customer like that.
Excellent service and care. Started ordering by letting the staff know we have Celiac disease and the staff member immediately removed his gloves, washed his hands, and put on fresh gloves to serve us. He ensured he was the only one to touch our food containers through to check out. Plus, the food was stellar! So happy to have a safe place for my daughter to feel comfortable eating out.
We love Missions BBQ. We visited this location on vacation and were so impressed by the staff. They catered to our gluten allergy needs. All staff members were so kind but a special shout out to Trinity, Maya & Cara who went above and beyond. The food is always amazing.
We had a Galentines Dinner last night and there wasn’t a single complaint from 11 women. The food was delicious, the service was amazing and everyone was so kind and accommodating. Katie was our server and she was knowledgeable and also knew which gluten free options were the best. Thank you for hosting our little event. Can’t wait to come back!
Very clean and modern looking restaurant. Nice staff and delicious food. We had a mix of vegans and gluten free people in our large group and there was something delicious for everyone.
Amazing! This is definitely my new Hibachi spot. I am gluten intolerant and they were so great about my food restrictions. They offer GF soy sauce and extra rice or veggies since you can't indulge in the noodles. I did feel bad as everyone had to wait for my food to be cooked first with the gf soy sauce. The only reason for 4 stars is we had to keep looking to get our drinks refilled and there were no tricks, jokes or shrimp thrown at our table it was a bit odd. Otherwise amazing taste.
I have dined here many times and the food and service have always been exemplary. By far and away the best Italian food on the Peninsula. Atmosphere is cozy and warm. I have tried other Italian restaurants in the vicinity, but none come close to the quality of the food at Azzuri. They also have gluten-free pasta, so I can actually enjoy noodles!
Loaded fries are great, chicken tenders great, gluten free pizza was great (too expensive at 22.00 for 2 toppings), but stay away from the fish. One bite and sent it back - just been frozen too long?I would have ordered nachos but they only have flour tortillas. This is a party type of place, so even tho we were outside people around us were loud and smoking. When i go back it will be in daylight.
I am visiting Newport News from Richmond for my anniversary weekend. We decided on this place because it had a Gluten Free menu and good reviews from other celiacs.
It was FREAKING PHENOMENAL. I ordered the peppered scallops as a starter, crab cake, scallop and shrimp trio with gratin potatoes and garlic mashed potatoes (all to split with my fiancé) as the entree and the crème brûlée for dessert.
Coming from a Chef, I couldn’t have made this meal any better myself. Among the top 5 I’ve ever had in my life. I seriously would sell my legs to live closer so I could eat here again.
The service was a little slow, about 45 minutes before we received an appetizer and then another 35 before the meal was delivered. However it was a Friday night and they had a few big parties so I’m sure that’s what caused the jam.
No matter though, I’d wait that long again to enjoy it. 110% worth every penny ❤️
Wonderful new Thai restaurant close to home. They are celiac knowledgeable and offered to make almost anything on the menu gluten free. We all enjoyed our food and will return!
Fav Italian restaurant 3 rd visit here ..Food is always good. I am gluten free and they have penne gluten free pasta. Very accommodating. Just wish they would have a different know gf pasta like angel air.. Otherwise great restaurant great service . Top of my list for Newport news, VA.
So glad I finally stopped by! It’s my new favorite spot. Their coffee is excellent and the sandwhich/bagel options are to die for!! (they also offer gluten free bagels and several vegan/vegetarian options). The vibe is excellent and the staff has always been friendly and inviting. Sure it’s pricey, but the quality is worth it. Highly recommend!
Our waitress, Tadajha, was phenomenal! I have a gluten and shellfish allergy, and she was so diligent making sure my meal was safe for me. The kitchen makes sure they are prepping your food correctly, and I appreciate that so much! Great restaurant!
Good gluten free options, as well as sweet potato fries available. Delicious milkshake. Sorry for the image, required a to-go order this trip, but still juicy and delicious double burger.
The atmosphere was uplifting and fun and bright. The food was literally perfect. It was lots of fun to pick our own food and cook it. I can't wait to go back. Or you can eat for 2 hours for a great price. Everything is great about this place. SOUP MADE FOR US GLUTEN FREE. WE ORDER GLUTEN-FREE VEGETABLES, NOODLES, MEATS AND FISH.
I truly don’t mean to be this person…but the lack of service and food in NN is horrible. I ordered a pizza and it barely came with chicken, which I found extremely odd that some pieces didn’t have any chicken on it…so, I asked for extra and they didn’t even add it on!! Just put it back in the oven….If you don’t want to add it on, say it’ll be an up charge if you don’t want to take care of your customers.
I only ate one slice because it was awful…then the bartender hands me my check and doesn’t even take off the pizza I didn’t eat. The fact she was going to charge me, made me a little upset, as she clearly didn’t want to accommodate..her response was “the pizza comes that way when I order it.” Like, okay. It doesn’t mean it’s right or should be served like that.
I did apologize to the bartender for how I came across. But come on…as a server/bartender myself, you’re supposed to go above and beyond. It truly isn’t hard to make customers happy….plus, Acting like you care goes a really long way and will make the experience better…most WILL come back.
In my photos, I’ve attached what it looked like and what it came out as after asking for extra chicken. Clearly they didn’t add it and it was only cooked longer where the gluten free crust was overly crispy….really disappointed with the service and food here and I’ll never come here again.
The food here is delicious! Lots of options. All gluten free and some things that are hard to get GF. We have tried lunch and dinner. We have taken almost all the baked goods including ordering a cake. It is all wonderful.
Family favorite! High quality and great tasting food served with top notch hospitality! Gluten friendly and can work with allergies! Highly recommended!
Went here for lunch recently. I’m gluten sensitive so opted for the lettuce wrap. The young lady at the counter asked if I had an allergy. I told her gluten. Not sure if they took precautions from there, but I had zero issues the next day.
The menu seems appropriate for a Tavern. Much variety. I eat gluten free, and went with a California salad with grilled chicken breast and avocado ranch dressing. It was delicious and satisfying (with an extra side of black beans). My companion enjoyed her veggie tacos. She was impressed by the large quantity of vegetables in the tacos. She took half the meal for lunch the next day.

The employee there was super helpful and even let us try some of the ingredients that were new to us! Excellent gluten free/vegan options! The food was really good, but I think they may have forgotten the sauce on mine. Overall a good experience!
The cashier goes like we're not taking any orders for 10 mins to allow orlur cook to catch up. Half empty place. The line kept going longer. It took 15 mins for her to say sorry we can give u pagers to let u know when u can order. What a terrible service. I'm here for gluten free because I have celiac disease.
I thought the food was going to be spicy, but I was wrong!! Was originally going there for a farewell dinner for coworker. Food was plentiful! I should have stopped munching on the nachos, lol!! Did not finish my meal (took the leftover home; had it for breakfast with eggs!!) Gluten free options?? Definitely will come back for another visit!!
