We stopped by Lulu’s for lunch because they have a pretty robust selection of gluten free items, which seems hard to come by in Waikiki.
We had a lot of trouble with our order - 2 of our drinks had to be remade, the eggs on my Lulu Moco were fried instead of the requested over easy, and we ended up with a fly in another drink.. BUT I’ll say Sage, the waiter, and the manager both handled it really well. Both were very on top of getting things remade and coming to check on us to make sure everything was fixed to liking.
The food was also good, but the fish tacos were definitely the best thing any of us ordered.
Great gluten free burgers and buns. I use to love to go here for the dedicated gluten free fryer. However, on my last visit, that changed. The fries are now made in a shared fryer. But the burgers, wings and salads are amazing!
Amazing beach-side restaurant! The food was great, and our waiter, Kobe, was amazing! He was knowledgeable about my gluten allergy and my friend's nut allergy and gave us all the info and accommodations that we needed.
Food was delicious! Services was excellent. Our server, Julia, was friendly, efficient and helpful. My husband and I are both celiac and they understood and made sure our food was safe for us. Would highly recommend!
If I could do negative stars, I would. Story time. Husband & I chose this place for the gluten free burger bun option. We went to a previous restaurant that we thought was GF, it was unfortunately not. Husband already ordered/recieved his food to go. We explained this to the host & asked permission to bring husband's food in so that I could order and eat with him - THE HOST AGREED AND SAT US! We were then harassed by both the sever & manager seperately about the outside food. We explained to them both we were here for the gluten free option, and husband would order drink(s) ect. Didn't stop the manager from being rude to us AFTER we already explained our situation and were seated without resistance. As someone who worked in the restaurant industry for 10+ years, I was appalled. Train your staff better; don't agree to seat customers who are being transparent and then harass them anyways.
Don't spend your money here.
Great place for variety. Portion sizes are large and plentiful. The wait staff are lovely and were very informed about gluten free requirements. Have eaten here twice during my stay and no issues after eating. Great gluten free choices available. The fries are cooked separately and are gf also! Thank you for a wonderful meal.
If you want to come and eat here, come early as it's very popular and you may have to line up and wait a little, but the line moves quickly.
Do not come here if you are looking for safe dining for gluten allergy or celiac. Go to Lulu’s Waikiki instead, where they have a wide variety of gluten free items and DO make the effort to avoid cross contamination, unlike this restaurant.
Absolutely loved our meal here! I have celiac disease and our server Nico was extremely knowledgeable about options that would be safe for me. I got the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and it was devine! I would highly recommend dining here, especially if you are celiac or gluten intolerant!
Great food. Very accommodating for Celiac and gluten free. Fast service. Atmosphere/lighting could be better and more inviting. Large portions. Went here twice on vacation.

July 2023
I made a reservation for 6pm on my honeymoon.
◯Meat
For my main dish, I chose Porterhouse steak.
During my stay, I went to another famous steak restaurant, and the meat at Ruth's was not only delicious, but the seasoning was relatively well-seasoned, and I could feel the restaurant's commitment to it.
◯Service
The inside of the store has a calm atmosphere and a special feeling.
We prepared a plate to celebrate our honeymoon.
A separate gluten-free menu was available. It is also recommended for people with wheat allergies.
I loved the food so much, we came here 3 times over 5 days. One of the best vegan sushi restaurants I’ve ever been to. They have excellent allergy labeling and were able to accommodate gluten allergy/celiac.
We made a reservation for 6 PM. We were a little early so they said that they needed to get the table ready. Thats fine. We waited about 10 minutes past our reservation time before they had it "ready". And then when we went up there they still had to move it to be ready. And to top it all off that table has been completelh empty when we got there to begin with so not sure why we weren't seated then since they didn't need to wait for a party to leave that was occupying the table. We had looked at the menu before hand and that was part of why we chose this place. No where on the website does it mention they have a current limited menu, like cut in half. None of the items we had planned to eat were on the limited menu including the items the 3 kids wanted bc literally all the offered were mac and cheese for kids. We had also picked this place bc we knew they had gluten free items for one member of our party. Then with the limited menu all the was available was salad and like one other item if you got it without the sauce. The drink I had gotten at the bar while we waited for nothing was very good though . We ended up leaving and eating elsewhere.
Celebrated our anniversary here and Roy’s was lovely.
The food is was amazing, as well as the service.
Made reservations, as most places in Honolulu need a reservation to get in and there was a slight wait to our table.
The misoyaki butterfish was succulent and delicious.
The carpaccio, tataki, and poke was refreshing.
They were able to accommodate our dietary needs for gluten free.
Keep room for desserts at the end. They also gave us ice cream at the end for our celebration.
Everyone in our party loved their food. The waiter and kitchen were super accommodating with those at our table who needed gluten free options. The area is lively and fun. Definitely recommend!
Great atmosphere and options for food. Casual dining experience with live music. Cauliflower crust is a great option for gluten free needs. Got the brewmaster and the Hunter. Both were unique pizzas with great taste.
pretty high quality fish with very high prices and middling service at best. they have a happy hour some days. gluten free soy sauce and menu available.
From someone who NEVER writes reviews...
When you pair great taste with a waiter who was on top of his game,
It makes for a great meal and what would be our normal go to for dinner out if we were locals!
The great service started with Tony being extremely knowledgeable of celiac disease to the point of understanding cross contamination and being able to tell us which foods to avoid because of it! Not something we're used to back home.
We ordered the Guava BBQ St Louis style ribs. They substituted the fries for garlic mashed without us even having to ask. The flavor of this sauce if you love a sweet sauce this one has an amazing flavor and has no spice/kick to it. Unfortunately the rack that was brought wasn't the greatest of quality of meat. We didn't ask for or expect anything to be done, we even turned down the replacement that was offered. Before we knew it, either the owner or manager was at the table insisting on making up for the toughness of the ribs. He had another half rack brought out and they were amazing.
Fete lives up to all the excitement and positive reviews it has received. Our waitress walked us through the entire menu to point out what had gluten in it and what did not. My wife and I split the special beet salad with grass-fed local steak and the Biggie Small Koji-Brined Ludovico Chicken. The sauce on the chicken was unlike anything I’ve ever had before. One of the best meals on our visit to Oahu.
Since we're gluten free, we only ever grab the pho. And, typically, at the KCC market since it's easier with kids. Just stopped at the restaurant for lunch on a Saturday and it was great. The broth is absolutely divine. I dream about this broth. I've tried to make broth like this and it pales in comparison (and I really know how to cook). There's some magic in the pho at P & the L and we'll keep getting it as often as we can! Even if it requires a flight from NY 👌💖
Horrible experience for individuals with gluten free dietary restrictions. I ordered the chicken pesto pasta because my grandmother ordered the same dish, and it looked fantastic. So I ordered the chicken, pesto dish, gluten-free, and it was horrible. They basically served me pesto and water as a sauce, whereas the original dish is creamy. No effort to even make it as close to normal as possible. Waste of money and completely disappointing seeing as I specifically came here because of their extensive gluten free menu.
I originally ordered their fresh fish dish that was baked in a garlic aïoli. I’m not kidding when I say that the aïoli they scooped on top of this fish was at least an inch and a half thick… It was a texture nightmare. I immediately sent it back.
Tina kills it every time… she’s the main reason we come regularly. I love the friendly atmosphere, convenient location and the food is great. Would love to see more gluten free options on the menu though!
Fantastic! Fresh food, excellent service, and not only does their menu indicate what's gluten-free, they had gluten-free shoyu for me to use :) Will def return.
A real tasty, classy place. Had some business in Chinatown, finished early and decided to stop in for a drink and a pupu which became a couple drinks and a 4 course dinner. What a treat. Our server Desmond, was most attentive and helpful, it was fun eating in the atrium of the Tower and the food was oh so good. The menu included good gluten free options, both in number and taste. Felt like a European eating experience, will return with guests for sure.

Wow!! I feel like they don’t advertise it at all, but this location in particular has certified gluten free options for sensitive celiacs like myself! The waiter explained everything really well. In short, they have a separate area and separate toppings they use for the gluten free pizza, and then they put it in a special tin foil covering for the oven. It was also a delicious meal, and the others in the group that ate gluten were equally satisfied. My boyfriend also ate gluten free, and we ordered the barbecue chicken pizza and the meat and mushroom pizza. Delicious!
I went to this restaurant with some colleagues for dinner. I had the local catch with Peruvian aji and it was amazing. Hands down the best meal I had while in Honolulu. One of my colleagues is gluten intolerant and they were able to accommodate her too. Definitely recommend it.
Overall the food and drinks were terrible. Bonus there is a gluten free burger and fries, don't get too excited, it was served on a dry bun (that fell apart when I picked it up for the first bite) with flavorless meat and brisket and no sauce offered. Their usual sauce is BBQ and not GF so I had to flag down the server for some mayo at least. Atmosphere was busy and there is a beautiful view but also birds pooping above us on the umbrellas and tables/chairs. Server was friendly. Mojito was terrible. Overpriced because of location. 0/10 would not recommend.
Da Spot is a hidden gem in town. It has delicious, healthy affordable dishes at fast "junk" food prices and speed. The portions are plentiful so even a $6 mini plate will likely fill you up. Regular plates are $8 and combos (choice of 2 entrees) are only a couple of bucks more (same or less than McD combo meals). Plates include rice and salad or you can get all rice or all salad.
Meals are very good and include lots of gluten-free and vegan options. Yummy chicken, fish, lamb, and beef with healthy veggies, herbs, and sauces -- all ready to eat in or take out. Made-to-order gyros are available too. Tastes are from around the world -- Egyptian, Moroccan, Thai, Greek, etc. -- so there is something for everyone. The baklava is a great way to top off your meal for only $1.50. The smoothies ($3 small, $5 large) are incredible too and about half the price of Lanikai Juice or similar places. There's plenty of room to eat in the dining area and parking is available in the restaurant's reserved lot around the corner or in the Longs lot across the street.
They are very knowledgeable and helpful with gluten free options - need to avoid anything with teriyaki sauce ( lettuce wrap burgers and GF buns available). If front payment staff don’t know what options are- just talk to the people on the grill- they have a system to prep safely. They have a shared drier so French fries not an option. Have eaten here 3 times with 3 family members with celiac and everyone loved the burgers.
Totally amazing food, HIGH Quality ingredients. And their flower is from Japan in a completely different gluten. So if you have a gluten allergy, you may can eat the udon noodles and be perfectly fine. Amazing amazing. Amazing! Delicious so good I wanna go back.!
Delicious! Great vegetarian and gluten free options (I hope they try to make gluten free pita in the future!). Professional and friendly staff. Sit outside for a nice breeze.

Love this place waitress was outstanding and she took care of us. Have a gluten allergy along with one other friend that has it too and I can't wait to go back tones of option for us. Would highly recommend this place for the celiac out there.
Great food and a fun atmosphere! Was a great place to go to for Happy hour from 5pm-6pm.
You gotta get the garlic curly fries!! Delicious
The menu doesn’t specify anything being gluten free, but the staff was extremely helpful. They had a short list of what was gluten free and very accommodating.
What more can I say!? Mahalo! Banyan's Island Grill is so good! Had the Arakawa Fish Sandwich and the Hawaiian Chicken BBQ Plate!
They were very nice when it came to Mother In Laws Celiac Disease and tried their best to accommodate her! Just be careful that delicious salad dressing has gluten in it~! Mahalo! E hele hou mai kākou!

This particular location of Gyu-Kaku is my favorite because in addition to always having great service and easy parking, they have several tables that comfortably seat 6. Most of the menu is delicious and Gluten-Free,plus the prices are amazing if you eat during their many happy hours.
