Attention to all my GF friends and fellow Celiacs - I can’t recommend this Gondola Pizza location enough. I never would’ve imagined the service and assurance that I received from them. I placed an order online and in the notes, put that I was celiac. Within 5 minutes, I received a phone call from the owner explaining that he is also celiac and that he will personally make my food! He also threw in some gf chicken tenders for me to try and I’m so glad that he did, because they were delicious!! Just having the opportunity to feel normal ordering delicious delivery pizza, is like a dream. Thank you for all the options on your GF menu, and more importantly keeping me safe! Appreciate you, Gondola!
Amazing place and great service. Is like a subway for pizza. Pick your dough, ingredients and watch it go into the fire stove. They also have dietary options and the gluten-free dough is really good. Freash topping tasted great.
The waitress was kind and patient with my niece. It did take her a while to come back to our table throughout the night and it wasn't a busy night. I had a chicken rice bowl that was extremely delicious. I was also delighted that they had a gluten-free brownie available.
A Mixed Bag with a Strong Finish
We recently visited Santa Lucia Pizza with a party of nine—my parents, my wife, our three kids, two friends, and myself. Our plan was to arrive around 5:30 PM, with my parents getting there early to secure a table and place our order so the food would be ready by the time the rest of us arrived. Unfortunately, the visit got off to a rocky start.
Upon arriving early, my parents requested a table for our full party. However, they were told by a female manager that, due to company policy, they could not be seated until everyone had arrived. While we understand that some restaurants operate this way, the situation could have been handled more professionally. The restaurant was far from full at the time, yet my parents were made to wait for more than 10 minutes with no accommodation or courtesy extended.
When we did arrive, my dad was still speaking with the same manager, who responded to his concerns with a rude tone and dismissive attitude. Instead of offering an understanding ear or solution, she made a pointed comment about how this situation could have been avoided if we had made a reservation—essentially placing blame on my father. As someone who has worked in the service industry for years, I found this incredibly unprofessional.
To make matters worse, when I went to the host stand to ask whether gratuity would be automatically included for our large group, I overheard this same manager speaking about my dad to the hostess—clearly referencing him in a less-than-respectful tone. That kind of behavior is absolutely not what you expect from someone in a management position, especially in hospitality.
Thankfully, the experience took a turn for the better once we were seated. Our server, Carly, was a breath of fresh air—warm, bubbly, attentive, and professional throughout. She took the time to ensure all our needs were met and brought a sense of ease to the table, especially after the rocky start.
A special shout-out goes to Danic, a male manager who came out personally after we informed Carly that my wife has celiac disease. He reassured us that her meal would be carefully prepared and took time to explain the steps the kitchen would take to ensure her safety. His personal attention and thoughtful approach were greatly appreciated and went a long way in restoring our confidence in the restaurant.
I called later in the evening just to let Danic know he and Carlly did a wonderful job but was was first met with the female manager who again shared a very aggressive and short tone with me. Once I talked with Danic he was so personable and grateful for the call.
In the end, while the beginning of our evening was marked by disappointment and frustration due to the behavior of one staff member, the dining experience itself—thanks to Carly and Danic—was very positive. The food was great, and the service (once we were seated) was excellent.
Final Verdict:
⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ (3/5 stars)
Santa Lucia Pizza has potential and some standout staff members, but their customer service—especially from management—needs improvement. A more respectful and empathetic approach from all team members would have made this a 5-star experience.
Delicious pizza.
Needed one gluten free for my wife who is celiac. They were super helpful and even called back explaining the flavor of pizza I chose had gluten in a topping so I could swap it out for another meat.
Was around $90 for two extra large pizzas and one medium gluten free.
We are very happy with the service offered by Jody and her staff.
We received a sincere apology and generous compensation for an online order miscommunication, which wasn't ready at the promised pickup time.
However, the staff assured me that the now fully replaced order would be ready in good time, and it was.
The food was extremely fresh and that includes the GlutenWise Grillled chicken clubhouse, the two garden salads, and the two Boston-sized burgers. And the 2 GF brownies were excellent!
This location has shown sincere integrity and respect for its customers and that means a lot.
We will happily return to this one.
I have a gluten intolerance and ordered the penne primavera with gluten free fussili instead of penne. I spoke with the manager over the phone to ensure they were aware of my allergy. My fiancé picked up the order and again confirmed that it was made with gluten free pasta. When he got home and we opened up the package I saw it was made with regular penne which is not gluten free. I called and spoke to the manager and she confirmed that the order was entered in correctly, the kitchen just didn’t read it. This is extremely irresponsible as allergies need to be taken seriously. I’ve ordered from here before so I know what their gluten free pasta looks like but someone else may have just assumed it was gluten free and eaten it. I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the manager did send out a new order, but they put my health at risk by sending me food I informed them I’m allergic to. I think I should have been offered something, like a gift card, to make up for the irresponsibility of sending me food I’m allergic to and the inconvenience of having to wait an additional 30 minutes for my food. I understand it was Mother’s Day and they may have been busy but there is no excuse for make errors when it comes to allergies. I don’t think I’ll be back.
Ordered 2 gluten-free, 1extra crispy thin, 2- 16 inch hand tossed regular crust, 2-16 inch hand tossed thin crust. I did carry out. Brought blanket in car to wrap around boxes, put seat warmer on and came home with piping hot, delicious pizza's. Thanks for making my Mom's 80th Birthday at great meal. 50 Lakewood Blvd. location.🥰🎉🎂
This pizza is awesome. I am celiac and to find a place that is aware of celiac issues was great. When I called he assured me that there was no cross contamination and that not only was the the pizza safe he also had chicken fingers!. They were so tender. I recommend anyone who is gluten sensitive or celiac to try this pizza!
Food is always fantastic. There is some great gluten free options, and staff and knowledgeable and helpful. Both dine in and take out are great options, food prepared promptly. Definitely worth checking out.
We ordered La Farina for our Christmas party this past weekend (delivery) - when I tell you, all the guests were RAVING. This pizza was unreal, so many toppings and delicious crust. I had the Hawaiian and it was one of the best I've had! We also had the pasta (with meat sauce and with vegetarian sauce), plus these amazing grazing boxes! There were gluten free options and everyone found something they loved! I will definitely be ordering from them in the future!
I've been coming here for years, but was recently diagnosed with celiac disease. Based on their website mentioning gluten free options and some positive reviews about their gluten free offerings online, I went recently.
Atmosphere was top notch as always. Dimly lit in evenings and very intimate. Loud, but still possible to hold a conversation. Serving staff were great besides their knowledge of the gluten contents on the menu.
The food was delicious, including their gluten free crust, but despite ordering gluten free I had a reaction to gluten following my meal. This restaurant is not safe for those with celiac.
Despite it being a super busy night with the jets game, the staff were super attentive and welcoming (checked in with us several times, made sure my celiac partner was able to find things that they could safely eat, timely getting us seated at the start and the bill at the end). It’s awesome how they can make several things with gluten wise products and they don’t charge an arm and a leg for the substitution (not sure now much control each location has over that kinda thing but it’s still super nice). Definitely will be coming back next time we are looking to go out for date night!!
Ordered the GF options and our counter person was SO attentive to the allergy (sauce and toppings from underneath, clean knives, parchment for cooking). I know that guarantees can’t be made in a restaurant that serves floured items, but our celiac family members felt very safe. Well done
I will be 100% coming back to this restaurant. I had a wonderful experience. I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease and my server Raiden went above and beyond to assure me that my food would be safe for my consumption. He checked in multiple times to let me know that food my partner ordered would not be celiac friendly and assured me that mine was. I felt very safe eating here. Thank you Raiden for making this experience so positive
My partner and I frequent pizza express as our go to take out. My partner is gluten free and loves the hot chicken caesar salad without croutons while I enjoy the pierogi pizza! If you are planning on delivery I would suggest calling direct rather than using snappy eats. Unfortunately although requested the salad contained croutons and my partner could not eat it and my pizza contained no chives or green onions. We will still frequent pizza express but will only call from here on out!
Huge shout out to Yassaf. We ordered two pizza to go, one gluten free. When we arrived, we learned that they were out of gluten free pizza crusts. Although disappointing, Yassaf went above and beyond to apologize and make it right! Kudos for such awesome customer service! BTW, the free wings were outta this world!
My family took me out to dinner for Mothers Day and when I ordered my food I was specific with what I ordered and told the server I am allergic to dairy and gluten. The kitchen prepared my food and put my fries in with dairy and guten products and gave me sauce that may contain gluten. I had to run to the bathroom to get sick and was in there for approximately 30 mins. The server called the manager over and he didnt take me seriously and swept it under the rug, telling me I shouldnt have ordered the fries. I am now having to run to my bathroom to be sick and may have to go to urgent care if the pain in my stomach doesn't go away.
I can't digest gluten and usually do not look forward to eating out. Boston Pizza has changed that! Their gluten free bun is heavenly, truly the best I have ever had. Highly recommended!
The best Gluten Free/Vegan pizza I have ever tasted, 10/10 would recommend.

I am leaving the picture as a reminder of how bad things got. We had back to back horrible experiences and had updated our review to reflect that.
Management reached out to me and offered free pizzas to gain back our business. I chose not to accept.
Instead, my wife and I ordered from them twice, and both times had awesome gluten-free pizzas.

The cheeseburger pizza was the best pizza I have ever eaten in my entire life. I have been celiac for over a decade and this was the most amazing pizza I have ever eaten. The toppings were fresh, crust was phenomenal, service was top notch. It was so good, I went back for a second time during my stay. If you’re looking for a solid place, check it out. You will not be disappointed!
Gluten free pizza crust was so hard it was like eating biting cardboard the last 2 times we ordered. All food that was no. Gluten free was delicious (as per rest of the family)
