The service here is incredible and the staff are very knowledgeable on gluten free meals and how they adapt their menu to fit GF needs. If we were staying longer I’d be back here for breakfast again!
The food is incredible, you can tell they are Italian. They have gluten-free pasta options although there isn't much to choose from. It comes in a VERY small quantity for the price, but it is very very delicious for a treat-meal.
This is the go to place for gluten free. Best food and desserts by far and amazing flavours. No fear of missing out you can eat it all. Highly recommend ordering a couple different dishes and sharing. Also the lions mane was a first and would eat again. Best GFDF dessert I’ve had in years!

Lots of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free options marked in the menu. There were 4 people waiting for tables when we arrived, and we still were seated in 5mins. Pizza and salad combo makes a perfect light meal. Salad was as basic as it gets, but fine. Pizza was better than I expected - thin crust, well dressed.
All celiac. Food was fabulous. Had chicken and paneer pakora with mint, Punjabi, and mango chilli sauce. Also lentil coriander dhal with rice and chips and cheese. For 3 of us had next day leftovers. Matthew took great care of us.
Great service from Zane! My boyfriend has Celiacs disease and had no problem ordering food from the menu. Gluten free beer made the visit amazing as well, and the food was fantastic!

Howie's is an excellent choice for modern Scottish cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere without the hustle and bustle of the pun. Its dishes stand out for their flavor and presentation: from haggis to fresh fish, game meats, and traditional soups or the soup of the day. The restaurant has two main locations in Edinburgh: one on Victoria Street, more intimate and with historic charm, and another opposite a cemetery very close to the climb to Canton Hill.
The service is attentive and efficient, and the menu includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, as well as a good selection of wines and whiskeys. They also have clean bathrooms.
Improvements: The Victoria Street location has small spaces, with limited access for people with reduced mobility. In both cases, it's advisable to book or arrive very early.
In short, a highly recommended place for a tasty Scottish experience with good value.
Used Vittoria many times over the years in both locations. Enjoyed it every time but sadly today was well below previous standards.
We asked about gluten free for the starters as there was gluten free bread available and a quite a few of the starters were something with garlic bread so could they swap it. Told no the chef would t cut a slice just for that. Really poor standard. Why offer pizza and pasta gluten free mains but do nothing for starters and also dessert. You’ll find it’s either sorbet or gelato.
Meatball starter I was excited for but instead of the one large Polpette you used to get it was four small very average meatballs.
One main course was good the seafood tagliatelle is recommend that, the rucola salad side was a bit tiny for the price.
The other main course chicken and spinach risotto was another very average dish. This was a go to in the past and was much better on previous visits.
The raspberry sorbet dessert was nice after we had to remind them it was to come with a berry compote which they corrected to be fair.
Overall sadly very average for what used to be a highlight for Edinburgh.

Ula was most amazing! Showed me how to use the rewards app. Recommended new Gluten free base and explained the difference. Truly great experience for solo dining!

Adapted gluten-free breakfasts, without contamination. They give you gluten-free bread if you want and the menu says what does NOT contain gluten. Celiacs, you can have breakfast in peace, my celiac wife was not contaminated.
Worst experience in a Pizza Hut in my entire life. I love pizza Hut, there is none in my city so when I travel I always try to find a Pizza Hut to eat. I ordered one chicken pizza. It was not good at all, I had to take literally all chicken pieces out of the pizza and still couldn’t eat all. My husband ordered a gluten free pizza, it was as bad as mine. The worst part is that we have paid around £17 in each pizza. The staff was super friendly though. Anyway do not recommend chicken pizza neither the gluten free one.
Went with my mum and aunt, mum is coeliac. Both rated their food 10/10 (and are usually a little fussy). My burger was great, chips fluffy and generous portions. Beef burger slightly pink and tender, gluten free fish and chips crumbed batter lovely and crisp. Service very friendly and warm.
What a great place!!!!!! Admittedly I prejudged the place as it looked too "chainy" and didn't think it'd be good. Thanks to a work lunch I've been introduced to this place, and it's great!!!
There are loads of options and filling combinations available -which are REALLY delicious!
I look forward to going back and trying need things.
You basically select a main, add a filling (or two) and then lots of different toppings!
Even better; there are gluten free options available; rice bowl and nachos
Staff were absolutely lovely, down to earth, friendly and helpful
Freshmex started out in Aberdeen and this is their next branch, great to see!
I'm a new fan now and look forward to my next visit
Price wise I think it's good; ~£12 for nachos and a drink.
Had a very bad experience at The Outsider this week. Booked a table for my boyfriend and myself for his 30th birthday celebrations. Booked the table for 7:30, arrived on time and didn't get seated at our table which wasn't ready for us until 7:40. We were offered a complimentary glass of prosecco as an apology which was kind of them, however I was driving. It then took around 25 minutes for someone to come and take our order, I'm gluten intolerant and no one asked about allergies or intolerances. We then sat for about 55 minutes with no food and no questions to ask if we were okay or explain where our food was. Eventually the waitress who took our order came to our table at 9pm to ask if we had had our starter and ready for our main.. at this point I explained we hadn't had any food at all.. an hour and a half after our table booking. She apologised and told us she'd been told we had been given our starter, we were then given a bowl of olives to eat while we continued to wait.. Major communication slip up. It still took 25 minutes for our starter to arrive and we eventually finished our meal at around 10pm. The waitress was very apologetic and we got our meal complimentary as an apology, however I still don't think this makes the situation any better, we were left sitting for ages with no attention, the waitresses were all rushed off their feet as it was so noisy and busy so I don't think they even noticed our table. Overall it just ended up being a very poor ans frustrating experience to end what had been a lovely day celebrating my boyfriends birthday. The one star is because when we eventually received it, the food was good!
Excellent gluten free burger with an excellent bun. They had a whole gluten free menu and not one, but two gluten free beers on draft! Very welcoming to dogs. Service superb: professional and friendly. Excellent fries too. Very lucky to have this place in Edinburgh.
Nice little no frills restaurant to grab breakfast at in the Edinburgh area. The staff was really nice and the food and coffee were decent.
The price is also very reasonable for the area and had some gluten free breakfast options.

Amazing food, melt in the mouth. And the service, excellent. I have Celiac disease and the chef himself came out to go over the food options. Absolutely exceptional!! We'll be back
