Surf is truly a gem in downtown Whitby. If you’re looking for a place to grab some excellent cocktails and amazing SoCal style small plates and shareables, this is where you wanna be. They do a feature cocktail each week to keep it fresh (which you can find on their Insta) and everything they serve is made in-house (plus, their entire menu is 100% gluten free). The staff are all super friendly and very knowledgeable when it comes to the drinks and food. If you come by in the summer they have a really beautiful back patio, too. All around just a really amazing place that you should check out if you’re looking for a nice cocktail bar/restaurant in Durham.

I went here with my family for a pre- reserved vegan and gluten free dinner. The chefs here are truly talented. The food was phenomenal. Owners are friendly, gracious and very talented. This was a multi course meal that was better than 4-5 star restaurants in Niagara. Flavour profiles, technique and quality of ingredients are outstanding. Book in advance, you are in for a real treat. Everything I ate was amazing, fresh and soooo delicious!

Awesome experience here! My best friend is gluten free so we came here for their cinnamon roll gluten free pancakes (delicious by the way). We came in a group of 4, it was kind of busy but the food still came out fast, which was surprising because our server had to actually go get bananas because the ones they had weren’t ripe enough. Synthiyan was our server and he was exceptional! Will definitely be coming back.

This location never gets the orders right. I ordered for pickup and they missed half the food in the bag. When I called they told me I was trying to rip them off. I ordered again for delivery from Skip and request Gluten-Free buns. They made the burgers on regular buns, when I called they were told me to come in. At least Skip will credit the mistake, but these mistakes shouldn't happen.

My fiance and I recently hosted an Engagement Lunch at The Brock House. Coordinating with Maddison, one of the owners who is also the event coordinator, was incredibly easy as she was very efficient and quick to answer all of my questions. We reserved the Nash room and it was a beautiful space that was able to easily accommodate our 35 guests without it feeling cramped. One of our guests uses a wheelchair and there was zero issue with her being able to get into the space, have her meal, and use the washroom. The staff had helped set up and decorate everything before we got there, and it was exactly how we envisioned it. It made walking in feel that much more special. Everyone on the team was so kind and attentive, making sure our guests were taken care of and that the whole event ran smoothly. The food was absolutely delicious, and we’ve been hearing nonstop compliments from our family and friends. The team was also very attuned to allergies and food intolerances, which was very much appreciated as we had a variety in our group, including gluten-free guests. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such an important day. Huge thanks to everyone at The Brock House. You made our engagement lunch so memorable, and we’re really grateful. Highly recommend for any special occasion!

Tonight was our first time at Beertown. As someone who is gluten and dairy free, I was excited to try their menu as they have a lot of options catering to my diet. Unfortunately, a couple of things happened that did not make our experience a great one. First of all, I asked for a gluten free bun and my burger came with a wheat bun on it. I wouldn't have known if I had been alone, but everyone else at my table had the same bun which is how I knew it wasn't allergen-friendly. My other friend asked for regular truffle fries and he was given vegan parm fries which he did not want. Our fries were also stone cold, which was especially disappointing once we actually got the right order. The food we all had was just okay, and there was nothing special about it. It also took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive which was quite frustrating and there was no apology or consideration around this. The drinks were good which we appreciated and the vibes were enjoyable, although very loud on a Friday evening - we often had to yell in order to hear one another. Overall, I unfortunately won't be back. I'd maybe recommend this place for drinks only and if you are not in a rush.

Thai Delicious is our favourite Thai restaurant. The food is high quality and the prices are reasonable. All their food it gluten free as well. This is great for whenever we need a meal for someone who is gluten intolerant.

Not a bad restaurant overall. Nice atmosphere with friendly well dressed waitstaff. We were personally served by Jason who was quite accommodating and friendly. He kept my lady happy with a well made Margarita from the bar so I'll try not to hold the fact he had no ciders for a thirsty man against him. Seriously get some ciders milestones! I was please that Jason did everything he could to help us meet our dietary restrictions. He needed to put in some extra effort helping us understand what was gluten free and what wasn't. For whatever reason the menu only lists two gluten free options, despite many more being available upon request. Fixing the menu is the second thing I would recommend for the restaurant as at first glance it will keep many customers with special diets away that would otherwise visit. All in all a good experience and worth the visit.

We had a fantastic experience at the Food and Art Cafe on Monday. We were a group of 10, 3 adults and 7 kids. Everyone was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our server was so sweet with all the children, as were the rest of the staff. We had a lot of dietary restrictions in the group as well, no dairy, no gluten, nut allergy etc. Our server took the time to walk us through the menu options based on our needs. The food was outstanding, everyone was so happy with their meals. Thank you so much, we will be back again soon!

I come to Guac in brooklin a couple times a week and the food and service is always on point. I also love that they are celiac friendly and all of the staff are well educated and informed on what’s celiac safe. Nia is one of the staff that usually takes my order. She is always very polite and makes sure my orders are prepared correctly.

Every time I’m in town visiting my parents we come here for lunch, the food is amazing. I also have a severe Gluten allergy and I can have quite a few options. I usually go with the russwich sandwich the beef is so tender and the gravy is so flavourful, they also get their GF from the store next to the restaurant so it’s always fresh. Service is always good and friendly, prices are also very reasonable for the portions!

Disappointed I didn’t go here sooner! Unique fine dining experience with great prices and impeccable service. Everyone working was smiling and polite. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the food and was very attentive to allergies. Lots of gluten free and vegetarian options. The food was delicious and very well thought out. We had the charcuterie and it was more than enough for all seven of us. We also tried the pickerel and potato croquettes and everyone loved them we almost ordered more. Honestly a must try. The Agnolotti was rich and had wonderful flavours. Burgers were excellent for the teenagers at our table. Steaks were both done to perfection. Not sure about the pork tenderloins presentation but it was extremely tender and tasted fantastic. Entrees were big portions and desserts were not too sweet but just enough to satisfy. Very impressed will absolutely be back.

Went here on the recommendation of a friend. Italian restaurants frighten me a little, as I have a gluten allergy. But I needn't have been worried. The menu is clearly marked, and the staff very accommodating. I ended up having the best risotto of my life. My husband had pasta bolognese. He said it was fantastic. I recently stumbled upon this wonderful vegan restaurant. I had the chickpeas wrap it was very delicious. I love the fact that they have a lot of gluten free options on their menu. They also distribute green juice, they have healthy pastries which includes gluten free options. I recieved a new customer discount and a free health magazine. This will definitely be my go-to restaurant for vegan delights.

Outstanding! This restaurant is the closest to a Michelin star cuisine in Durham region. The meals were absolutely delicious. Proteins were cooked to perfection and adorned with sauces that truly elevated the dish. My swordfish was fabulous. The fondue fantastic. Service was first class. They did a great job of accommodating the gluten free and pescatarian requirements of our party of six. The owners are doing a great job of leading the way in sustainable cuisine with locally sourced ingredients. Lighting was good. Playlist excellent. Not too loud.

The food was delicious and though the other reviews said the portions were large, I was still amazed at how much food I got. It was great. The service was amazing too. We had someone in our party that can't eat gluten and the moment it was mentioned our server was on top of it and she was able to tell us exactly what to avoid. We placed an order with Arun at papa johns in Whitby today, I was very specific about my gluten free pizza. Normally, I eat something other than pizza because I really don’t care for gluten free crust. Mine was amazing, there was extra sauce as requested with ample toppings. Was one of the best pizzas I’ve had. If you must have gluten free crust, this is the only place to go. Thankyou Arun

Love the restaurant decor which makes the space look fresh and welcoming, just like the food and where it originates from. The complexity of all the various choices can be off putting but with the guidance of the staff you can become a Poke Box expert. The food is fresh, exciting and tasty - an awesome addition to Whitby! I can't say enough of all the flavour profiles available to patrons and the combos that make eating a poke box just mouth wateringly delicious. I plan to visit the restaurant a lot more in the months ahead and encourage everyone to try a poke box at least once in their lifetime. Gluten free options are available but always check with staff to ensure they meet your needs.
