I love normal ice cream! They always have a gluten free AND dairy free option for me. It’s hard to find that for soft serve ice cream! On top of that their flavors are so thoughtfully made. They’re eclectic and bold, showing that their ice cream is more than dessert— it’s a culinary adventure! Even better, they have a new menu each month which really keeps things interesting and something to look forward to. Marketing hits the mark every time with their promos and always makes my mouth water. All of their staff are so kind and professional too, bringing an atmosphere of chill, easygoing fun. They know how to pile on the toppings and make a masterpiece at the same time *chef’s kiss*
I will forever love normal.
I was super excited to check out this cafe since it’s totally gluten free and I have celiac disease. Unfortunately, the employee who was working today completely ruined the experience. I got to the counter and was told I’d have to wait until she was done cooking the other orders before she could take mine. No problem, she seemed to be working alone and I can understand trying to get caught up. After ten minutes of standing there waiting, she finally came back to take my order but proceeded to tell me “just so you know, if you order food, it’s going to take 30 minutes.” I feel like she could have given me that info before I waited the ten minutes it took for her to take my order. I ended up not ordering anything at all because I felt like I was inconveniencing her. If I was the owner, I’d be pretty upset my employee was trying to dissuade customers from purchasing food. The friend I was with was kind enough to share what she got with me, and honestly the food was subpar. Maybe on a different day with a different employee it would have been good, but I was pretty disappointed with the whole thing.
Weird manager who yells at people and threatens to call the cops on them for being in the parking lot? Hard pass. None of their products are worth the trip to this awful location that's impossible to get to anyway in any amount of traffic.
Side note: Trader Joe's is not a safe place to buy from if you have celiac or any gluten sensitivity. They do not label their products well and refuse to certify anything as gf, they have had many recalls for contaminated products that were labeled gf that in fact contained gluten, and they keep changing manufacturers and ingredients without making the changes obvious so that things previously considered gf now have added gluten. If you need gluten free food, just STAY AWAY from shopping here.
I really liked the place it was super cozy. I asked for almond milk since I have a gluten and dairy allergy and she made it with oat milk and then MY COUSIN CAUGHT THE MISTAKE AND THEN SHE changed it to almond milk . I went down to ask for vanilla for flavor and sweetness they gave me vanilla extract and didn't say anything to me . I still liked the place and I would give it a try when I visit again.
Tasty, healthy, affordable fast food. This is our go-to for takeout (eat-in atmosphere is blah). Great for anyone with dietary restrictions—it's easy to get a balanced vegan meal, or to avoid gluten (which they keep out of most of their staple sauces & mains). Zao is much better than most of the food available in this neighborhood (except Piko, which is a whole other ballgame).
I particularly love this Sprouts, plus it's the only one close to me. Lots of selection for gluten-free options and they typically are always well stocked. I don't think I've ever gone in without finding what I need.
Lovely cafe in the Maven District with lots of natural light and a peaceful and calming aesthetic. The Gluten Free banana tarte was wonderful. I enjoyed an iced coffee while reading a book and appreciated the welcoming and cozy environment.
Cat-friendly and cat-person-friendly. We visited from out of state and absolutely loved it! The matcha was perfect, the cat room was thoughtfully designed for both cats and people to enjoy, and the owners were calm and thoughtful. It was also surprisingly clean! We went specifically because my 2.5 year old LOVES cats. She was delighted to be in a room full of them, petted the ones who were interested in getting close, and waited a while for them to warm up before getting a toy for them to play with. This was her dream come true! I would like to have some options for hearty gluten-free snacks/food (I scanned for some but didn't see any and didn't ask). But we were there for the cats and didn't mind getting food somewhere else afterwards.
Relaxing and calming ambiance, friendly and welcoming staff and amazing food! I am visiting from out of the state and was so glad I found this place - the salmon bowl was amazing. The combination of ingredients made it a flavorful and satisfying dish. The smoothies are huge and the presentation of the food is superb. Also for my gluten free friends - they offer GF toast as a side option.
Made reservations on a Friday early evening. Wasn't busy and the perfect time to go for a date night. Everything about our experience was great. The food was amazing, the server was great and everything was so clean inside. They have gluten free options, including pasta, and a nice wine selection. We both got pasta dishes and both were so good. We got a salad to share, I got the Linguine with lobster and shrimp, and my wife got the GF Rigatoni. Highly recommend. We'll definitely come again to try something different.
I love coming here for a breakfast taco. The people working are so kind, and the tacos are tasty. I'm a snack-throughout-the-day person, so one taco is perfect for me, but they are smallish, so a lot of people get two. Plus they have corn tortillas for us gluten free folk. Highly recommend!! Their lattes are excellent too. Thanks La Barba friends!
The food was G R E A T ! ! ! Have gone there 6 times! I am gluten intolerant and their buns are worth cheating for! Not much is! Got some Gargantuan's and it was enough meat for four gluten free buns! I think their prices are reasonable!
While probably not as good as the hype around it suggests, Matteo is a good Italian restaurant for SLC and in a great location. A few comments on the food and service:
1- the service (while a bit slow…was excellent).
2- the pastas, lasagna, risotto, and even the pollo dish are all good, but not great. Sicilia Mia is likely better.
3- The Cesar salad is great…and huge. Definitely a shared salad.
4- Excellent gluten free pasta noodle. I need to figure out where they are getting it. They use a noodle that is quinoa and brown rice and it was both delicious and perfectly cooked.
5- The panna cotta and the lemoncello bread pudding aren’t good and I would suggest skipping entirely. The best panna cotta (by a wide margin) along the Wasatch Front is at Maestra in American Fork.
6-The whipped Brie is excellent and worth getting to share as an appetizer. This has so much buzz, and was the best thing we ate
The GF rolls were good too (though not great).
Overall, I’d
I love their food especially since they have gluten free and they're good with it. But this time me and my family stopped after an event and my mom ordered and their roast beef looked questionable like very dark and not normal so she asked them about it they said it was normal so she was eating the sandwich but they didn't make it the right way so she told them and asked for no roast beef and for it to be remade since it's a complete different sandwich and one of the girls was pretty friendly and handled it well but the other one talked behind my mom's back and I watched her do it. She would mumble under her breath while glaring at my mom and throwing around her food and being aggressive while making it and then talking behind her back to her coworker. Me and my mom were taken a back as to why she would act like that when there was no reason since it was on them and my mom just wanted good food. I regret giving them a tip because they didn't deserve it for how they treated my mom. The other locations I go to are perfectly fine but this one I don't know what is wrong with them but they shouldn't act out on customers
I haven't been here in a long long time. When they started providing tiny sauce dishes, raised their proces and watered down the broth, I stopped going, 10 years ago.
This time was much better, broth was good, I brought my own gluten free hoisen sauce and the amount of veg and tofu was great, and lots of noodle. My companion said too many noodles, but I didn't feel that's possible.
The service really felt contrived and even unpleasant. We did stay, with 4 other tables, 15 min into their lunch break, but banging our chairs with the vacuum and using strong smelling cleaners near us as we are trying to finish our meal was pretty passive aggressive.
Prices are ok, but I need to feel a little more love and appreciated when I dine in. I'm nice, I tip well, promise.
Also, just ask if I need more sauce, don't run away quicky and ignore the table for 10 min.
Corn is in their name, so get the corn-based thing. I’m a huge fan of their enchiladas, their chips and most everything. The dishes are huge and the fillings are excellent. Most options are gluten free.
Reggaeton was blasting at the right volume and the decor is muy cute!
Everyone was friendly, even the teenager confused by my order. The manager (owner?) came and said hello, telling us that he expected us to”speak Spanish by the time we were done.”
Great drink selection, including refillable agua frescas.
10/10
I use to visit HSL often but over time it has become more disappointing. I ordered red wine and it was cold. The burger was raw and made my partner sick. The amazing ham for it no longer is the same. The gluten free options are no longer on the menu and the food overall took a nose dive. Love the people there and atmosphere but it’s just not as good anymore. And it has overpriced wines. Usually a great selection but $17 for a glass? No thanks.
Makenna was our server and to say she was amazing is an understatement!! I have a recent gluten allergy and she made me feel so comfortable eating here with it. Her knowledge of what could be gluten free and the safety of the food (what might have cross contamination and not) was amazing. She’s such a kind and caring server and it was truly some of the best service I have ever had!!!!
Please bring back the zucchini chocolate chip cookies. My spouse loves them and he was so sad to learn you guys don't make them anymore. Also, can you pretty please bring on board some gluten-free bread? X
My go-to Chinese take-out place! The food is always so good, fast, a great price, and I love all the customizations they offer (gluten free, brown rice, spice level, etc.). Best Chinese in Salt Lake!
They Do Not Care About Allergies! They Only Care About Money!
My wife and I made a reservation a few weeks ahead of time for Valentine's day date night. I specified when making the reservation of a gluten and nut allergy, and was assured there would be accommodations. When we arrived, we were informed of their "special" Valentines menu, which was basically a cruise ship style menu where you pick one of two appetizers, a soup or a salad, and one of three entrees, with no other options. When we tried to leave we were told we would be charged for cancelling our reservation. So we elected to stay. Nearly all of the meal options featured multiple ingredients that were not safe for my wife to eat, and the restaurant made no effort other than to remove the ingredients she was allergic to. So she ended up with 2 ounces of fish, an arugula salad with literally nothing on it but sour dressing and strawberries, and a teeny tiny dessert, then we got the bill for over $240 with tip. We had to hit up a local burger restaurant on our way home just so she could eat a proper meal, which cost only $10, lol.
Nobody warned us of their special valentines day menu we couldn't eat from, nobody warned us we would be spending at least 40% more than we would have needed to had we gotten to use the regular menu, nobody told us if we changed or cancelled our reservation we would be charged. This restaurant has NO Integrity, no transparency, and the staff could not care less about food allergies or making accommodations. I do not recommend visiting here, there are countless other "fine dining restaurants" in the city where you can get treated properly and provided with a proper menu, with fair quantities at a reasonable price. Go elsewhere please.
One the best seafood places I've been too In a while. Can get pricey but ive never paid 55 dollars for snow crab. No cross contamination gluten free food. Give it a try.
I ate the truffle pizza with gluten free crust. The gluten free crust was excellent. It was the right mix of chewy and crispy. The ricotta was a bit much, If I got it again I’d ask for it light ricotta The house bread with olive oil was on point. We also tried a couple of mocktails which were pretty good. We didn’t make a reservation and they kindly took us and sat us at the bar. My only complaint is we had lots of people walk by who couldn’t hear what we were asking for. Someone took an empty water vase and never returned with a full one etc. otherwise cool atmosphere and decor.
Went here for lunch while in the park. The chicken sausage salad and baked potato chips are gluten free. Large portions and quite good. No other options, but easier than leaving the park and returning.
Ever since Xiao Bao Bao opened, it’s been my favorite place to get lunch! The bao buns are so soft and the fillings are delectable. Plus, there are some seasonal buns and plenty of side dishes as well! Love that there are vegetarian and gluten free options on the menu too.
Went to Moochies for the first time as my friend told me they had the best cheesesteak subs, and he wasn't wrong. The subs here were delicious especially with the avacodo sauce.
Only minor issue I had was I asked for Gluten free since I have a allergy and was told they didn't sell Gluten free subs. I found out later after checking their website that they do, but just replace the bread with lettuce...wish I had known so I could've avoided the stomach ache. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating along with a restroom.
With a name like Atomic Biscuit- ya gotta try it! Busy with a great patio area. We had the skillet and just a plain biscuit. They have a “jam bar” with homemade jams that are out of this world. Gluten free options, wanted to try the mimosa, but a little early for that! We will definitely be back!
In a neighborhood full of trashy fast food, we were so happy to see this place open. We have eaten here frequently since their November opening, and have never been disappointed. The menu is smallish, but has great options for vegetarians, and can easily accommodate gluten and dairy free diets. The food is always fresh and delicious, and they have options ranging from luxurious (a 65$ steak) to affordable (a generous "rice and beans" lunch bowl that comes loaded with guac, the protein of your choice—I got the lamb birria and they were not stingy with it—and vegetables, for 10$). Fantastic cocktails, gorgeous steak and eggs at brunch, and a nice patio when weather allows. The tall tables by the windows desperately need hooks—there is nowhere to put or hang a bag or hat (that is honestly my only "serious" complaint). Service is earnest and friendly and everyone wants to make sure you have a great experience. They make their salsas (I think there are 9 varieties!) in-house. They are working out some minor technical bugs (I've been told a few times that there will be a wait for this or that, though I've never actually waited long for anything), but this is quickly becoming my favorite local restaurant.
This is by far the best vegetarian gyro I’ve ever eaten. The lentil falafel is crispy, but moist inside. The fries in the gyro seal the deal. The service is always perfect and the atmosphere is cozy, as though you are having a meal in a friend’s home. They are very accommodating for dietary needs, including vegetarian and gluten-free options.
