We had a lovely dinner at Dark Shepherd with my family. The service was excellent although it was clearly busy and the food took over 30 minutes to be brought to the table.
One of our dinner party was gluten intolerant and the restaurant was accommodating, understanding and knowledgeable with regard to dietary restrictions.
The tomahawk was cooked perfectly to our preference and was overall delicious.
We also had the lamb pasta, lamb ribs, kingfish ceviche, pork belly & octopus.
Everything was cooked to perfection. The octopus was well seasoned and perfectly tender. The lamb ribs were also tender and the flavour was excellent.
The sides were had were - saganaki, potatoes and beet salad - all were absolutely beautiful. Every dish was a standout in its own right.
Overall it was a phenomenal experience and we are glad we had the opportunity to dine at Dark Shepherd and looking forward to visiting again.

The service was prompt and friendly. The space is a bit damp and gloomy in winter but that's to be expected. The problem with that is that by the time the food arrived, it was cold. The scrambled eggs were silky, but the poached eggs were cold, and on cold stale gluten free bread that was hard to cut. Coffee was amazing, and the smoothies were delicious!

So when you find an entire Gluten Free menu, one tends to get excited.
They could customize my order too. They could manage dairy free too.
Ok, so the salivation begins..
I ordered a g/f and d/f chicken pita with roasted capsicums, chilli mayo and slaw.
And a preservative free apple juice.
It set me back $23 for this order, so prety expensive... but still good to be able to eat out.
It was fresh, tasty... I know, actual flavour in a gluten free option. Tge salad was fresh and the pita soft and seasoned. It had flavour and didn't taste like cardboard.
Such a nice surprise.
A good casual eating option that you can have out. It costs more than you would think, but at least it can be customised for allergies, something lavking in most food courts. 🙂
