Visited for the first time after our 4 year old daughters coeliac diagnosis, myself and partner are able to and do eat gluten, so we weren’t sure what to expect from the fish and chips we both ordered. They were honestly really lovely, I would never have known the whole meal was gluten free as it tasted no different from regular fish. The batter is so light and really crispy and delicious! Was really impressed with the kids meal and thought that it was very reasonably priced for a sit in (or takeaway) meal. My little girl chose fish bites and chips, which came with a carton of apple juice or water for £5! Which I thought was brilliant for the size of the portion.
Curry sauce was also really nice, and the amount was plentiful.
The lady who served us couldn’t have been nicer and was really attentive. There was an offer of a portion of free halloumi which she boxed up for us to takeaway too.
Really pleased to find this on our doorstep, very lucky to have a fully gluten free place to enjoy without fear! Will definitely return.

My wife and I were visiting Southwold and fancied a bit of lunch. We passed many promising looking eateries but didn't see anything suitable as we are both gluten intolerant. At the end of town, we happened across Jakery Bakery and were pleasantly surprised to see that everything they offered was gluten-free. It is a small place and we had the dog with us but there was a table outside where we could sit. Cheese scones were dry and over baked, even for gluten free food expected better from a specialist bakery. Do NOT get the leftover cake pots they make, had one bite and threw it away. We booked a meal at Studio 48 back in early November for my girlfriend's birthday in mid-December. She had been so excited to visit after seeing it on TikTok and learning that it was gluten-free. Unfortunately, the experience was nothing short of a disaster.
Upon arrival, we informed the staff of our booking, only to be told there was no room for us in the restaurant.
The lady we spoke to acknowledged that she could see our reservation in their system but claimed they were only accommodating major
Christmas bookings that evening.
Instead of honoring our reservation, she offered us a tiny space at the downstairs bar, which was completely unsuitable for having a proper meal. Naturally, we declined, as eating a birthday dinner in such a cramped and un-mfortable setting was out of the question. This left us stranded with nowhere to eat on a special evening. Given the time of year, everywhere else was fully booked, and finding a gluten-free option on short notice made things even more difficult. The night we had carefully planned for weeks was ruined entirely.
After reading other reviews, it seems we're not the only ones who've experienced this kind of poor treatment at Studio 48. It's unacceptable to mishandle bookings so carelessly, especially when customers are relying on you for a special occasion. We won't be returning and certainly won't recommend this place to anyone else.

I’m not coeliac but my partner is and I can vouch! He normally prefers a glazed but I got the best of box and the filled sugar doughnut were the best!
