Now that I’ve traveled around New Mexico, I realize just how good La Cueva is. Well versed in Gluten-free and helpful ad our daughter had celiac. No nonsense service. They know what they are doing and happy answer questions. I have not had chile relleno in years and this did not disappoint. My 15 year old did not believe me that it is good, but loved the chile relleno here. Very flavorful. My son loved his chimichanga and our 22 year old had the huitlacoche (corn fungus) enchiladas. Great flavor. We had huitlacoche while living in Mexico and were converted. Lots of cheese! Good but heavy. There is a lot of cheese on the food in NM. I love it but can’t eat this way everyday. 😂 Indoor and outdoor seating.

Antonio takes his clients very seriously when they have food allergies. I called before we arrived to make sure he could accomodate my gluten and soybean allergies. I relaxed the moment he described which delicious dishes he and his wife could prepare for me. Plus they are charming and made the lunch experience one of the best on our travels to Santa Fe.

Fresh flowers. Gluten-free options. Don’t be afraid of the line. They work quickly. They make their own bone broth. Fresh salads. Amazing gluten free bread and sourdough. They even have a blue corn bread. Salads, sandwiches, soups and bowls. A nice break from all the cheese I have been eating ay other places;). Fresh. Delicious. We went two times while in Taos. It’s the way I would like to eat every day of my life.

Went here twice over the weekend, and as vegans the options are pretty underwhelming. You can get gluten free blue corn waffles/pancakes, or anything that has eggs can be made with tofu or vegan egg. The first day I chose tofu breakfast tacos, and the tofu was cubed, not seasoned whatsoever and pan fried for maybe 2 minutes. The pinto beans also had no seasoning. It also took 40 minutes to get our check and we were planning to order more drinks but were unable to since they waited that long to come to our table. The restaurant was not overwhelmingly busy at the time. The second day I ordered the vegan egg omelet and it was cooked in butter, and made me very sick very quickly. Overall the options were fine because they are the only options for vegans in all of Taos basically.

staff, owners, all very attentive and personable. personally I’d like to see a few more gluten free bread options, which is what many of us relied upon from Wild Leaven (whole rye, whole spelt, millet, etc) Now that Wild Leaven is gone, I would say that Bread Club, while not filling that particular gap, is certainly one of the most conscious bakeries Taos now.

This bustling eatery offers a warm, old-school country vibe with a lively breakfast crowd and attentive, prompt service. However, gluten-free diners will find limited options and some menu items contain flour, making it less ideal for strict gluten-free needs.

The HEALTH FOOD is a fun way to start the day with some pinon coffee and the famous apple fritters (the best I literally have ever had in any town, state, or country!) But get there early, all bakery items sell out each day. My wife and kids usually get the smothered hashbrowns or the stuffed sopapillas- we usually get Christmas (half red/ half green sauce) and my veggie people always get the vegetarian sauce (which does have gluten fyi). There is no better Authentic New Mexican food spot I've ever had and lived years in parts of New Mexico. Easily top 5 restaurants ever eaten at in the world.
