From the service to the mini donuts, this place is a gem in KC. The crispy outside and the extra soft inside of the minis is a real delight! They also have gluten free that they have "stored" away from the normal donuts. I could sit here and just gas up this local gem for a bit more, but, you need to go try it if you haven't.

We came in on Easter Sunday with 5 adults and 7 hungry kids…our wonderful waitress didn’t “bat an eye” but handled our orders perfectly…Everyone was very satisfied and happy…
This was a trial run on taking the kids out to eat…they did a great job and so did our waitress…Food was great and with two Celiac folks, and a vegetarian we were SO pleased…keep up the super work! We will be back!!!

Got two cakes for my birthday, one regular and one gluten free cake for a party I hosted. Delicious cake and one of the staff members helped me carry my cake to my car. Excellent service, taste, and got it right!
Everything else at McClain's is also amazing.

Stopped here for my lunch break. Not only is this location super cute but also has fast and friendly service. Drive thru was busy but the inside was cozy, bright and pretty quiet for a Saturday afternoon. Perfect spot to read and enjoy some lunch! Plenty of healthy options to choose from including gluten free. The Mint Chip Energizer tastes EXACTLY like mint chip ice cream, but without the guilt!!! Delicious!! Sesame chicken salad was very fresh and tasty. H2O #5 was wonderfully refreshing during a long work day. This location will definitely be my go to place.
The food is great. The facility is nice. The staff is wonderful and willing to interact. I recommend First Watch. They have a wonderful Celiac /glutten-free menu.
A hit for any occasion, this spot boasts a diverse menu with healthy and flavorful options that cater to various dietary preferences.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City! They have a number of vegetarian and gluten free options, and their food is outstanding. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing (love their rooftop seating), and the staff is the best! They even remade my order for free when I forgot to ask for it without cheese (dairy allergy). 10/10 recommended this place!
Cozy and inviting, this gem offers an extensive drink menu and beautiful seating, making it perfect for relaxing or working.

Messenger Coffee is such a great spot! Before I found out about my gluten allergy, I absolutely loved their grilled cheese and would crave it all the time—it’s that good! While parking can be a bit tricky, which is understandable for any business in downtown KC, it’s definitely worth it. The atmosphere inside is perfect for working or just relaxing, with plenty of seating options to choose from. It’s a great place to get out of the house, enjoy some delicious coffee, and get things done. If you’re in downtown KC, I highly recommend checking it out!

Mildred’s is one of my favorite places in the Crossroads for several reasons.
1. It’s a family owned business. That continues to be passed down to future generations.
2. The current owners are young, successful entrepreneurs who pride themselves on taking care of their employees and it is paying off BIG time!. Mildred's take-home pay has always been a living wage, and since 2022 they've been able to provide health insurance and 401k retirement benefits to their full-time employees.
From kcmo.gov/livingwage: "A living wage is the minimum income necessary for workers to meet their basic needs, which include food, housing and other essential needs such as clothing...
"The living wage differs from the minimum wage in that the latter is set by national law and can fail to meet the requirements to have a basic quality of life, leaving the family to rely on government assistance."
3. I am always so impressed with how professional and happy the staff are. They always go out of their way to provide excellent customer service! That is extremely rare these days! I genuinely LOVE going to any Mildred's location because it is so obvious that the employees truly enjoy their jobs! And that, my friends, speaks volumes about who is running the place! 🏆
4.The fact that their food is mouthwatering delicious is just an added bonus! I highly recommend the standard breakfast sandwich on the jalapeño cornbread. The breakfast potatoes are amazing! The biscuits and gravy are the best thing ever! And if you are gluten free, get the breakfast hash because it’s the next best thing to eating the actual breakfast sandwich!
There are so many artist’s events here! The Songwriter’s Sanctuary on 3rd Sundays was wonderful. Also, the chai-der and vegan/gluten free crumble bar was very nice.
Charming spot with plenty of natural light, cute plants, and a cozy vibe, plus a great outdoor area and a dog park right out front.

We used Mildred's catering for a work breakfast and it was incredible! Not only was everything delicious and ready on-time, but it was also affordable. Mildred's even took the extra step to make sure everything was labeled so our vegan, vegetarian and gluten free colleagues were able to eat with confidence. Thank you Mildred's team!
Great atmosphere and a solid coffee bar, but expect a wait as staffing issues may lead to slower service.

The person at the counter was apparently having a rough day and seemed frustrated. I hope everything is going better for them. Maybe the place was extra short staffed. That's common these days.
My one major complaint is that it took over twenty minutes for me to get my food. Again, my first guess would be staffing issues.
I ordered an eggs benedict and the egg yolks were almost sold through, which wasn't the worst as i had mine bread free, having a gluten allergy. The cook might have taken the initiative to cook them a little firmer since there was no soaking material. The portion of hollandaise was a bit light, i could purpose the same hypothesis as above to steelman the chef. But other than that, it was a delightful meal.
The atmosphere is excellent and the coffee bar offers a fine tasting brew.
I'll be coming back in the future.

The staff was friendly and courteous, but the food fell way short of my expectations, considering the high ratings. If you have gluten allergies, be cautious. While they claim to offer numerous gluten-free options, the selection is limited. It’s also doubtful that they use a separate fryer to cook their gluten-free selections. The most you can get, apart from falafel, is a baba ganoush “platter”, which is more like a medium-sized serving of baba ganoush with sliced dill pickle and 4 small pieces of pickled vegetables. Additionally, Baba’s Bakery may not be a safe choice for those with gluten sensitivities. I was informed by a staff member that a cookie was gluten-free, but it turned out to be made with semolina, which contains gluten. In short, this place is overhyped and way too expensive.
A dedicated team expertly handles dietary needs and ensures a safe, welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

The food was good, but one of the line cooks laughed at me and walked away when i asked if they had vegan cheese (I’m lactose intolerant and celiac, and the website made it look like the team would be trained to handle that, but i guess not). The servers hardly made eye contact with us even though we were the only ones there, the cashier acted like we were the biggest inconvenience she’s ever had, and like i said i was literally mocked for asking for cheese that wouldn’t make me sick. Whoever is the night manager in this store needs to be either fired and replaced or put through remedial training asap. Then after they dropped off my pizza at the table, they put my partners pizza in the online order area and forgot about it until he went up there to ask- all while having literally no more than 1 other customer and maybe 2 door dashers over that 12 minutes.
Yikes.
So many delicious options to choose from: Coffees, teas and baked goods with gluten free options. Even gluten eaters would enjoy them because of the wonderful flavors and textures.
I had a warm chai and gluten free blueberry scone. Both were wonderful treats! I recommend you visit before or after you spend time in the Nelson.
Also, just a nice, relaxed place to meet friends.
The espresso is amazing! It's toasty and delicious, and it compliments each drink perfectly. I also really appreciate the gluten free donut options. They were so fresh and tasty.

This is my new favorite coffee spot! I’ve been here a couple times now. Atmosphere, coffee and food were amazing. I love that you have gluten free options because so many places do not.
The only thing that could make it better is the staff. Well, just one person. I had the same girl both times I came in and she seems like she does not like her job. She doesn’t smile, say thank you (huge for small businesses) and I sat at the bar where I witnessed it with every person who came in. I’ve been noticing it a lot with the younger generation, it’s such a bummer. A smile and a thank you go a long way! We will keep coming back no matter what because outside of those small interactions, the vibes are fantastic.
Beautiful hand-poured lattes and nice customer service. The also had at least one gluten free pastry option, I believe it was gluten free cake baked with Earl Grey tea. Always try to stop here when in Kansas City. Very nice.

This location is great because it's not as busy as some of the others. It's fast and delicious. We usually order ahead which saves time. The orders are usually correct. The food is fresh and healthier options are available. If you're eating gluten free you can usually find something that works. They have new drinks that are delicious.

The artistry and creativity is amazing! I love the colors and uniqueness Christopher Elbow offers. While showing properties in downtown KC I popped in to check out what is new. They have adorable Easter box sets (see photos). I have given these chocolates as gifts to clients, friends and family for a long time and they never disappoint. They have gluten and dairy free options, but they still contain soy. There's a fee but they let me try it free the first time. The astro turf is recycled, very smart use of it. Keeps dog paws cleaner than running through mud. I hope they get gluten free fries & safe items on the menu so I can eat next time.
Amazing food! Even a simple avacado toast was so good. I came after a workout and even got a protein shake. A little bit of something for everyone here. Grilled sandwiches, gluten free options, salads, cookies and beer. It's got it all! Need not be a cyclist to enjoy this little gem

The service is top notch and food delicious. Lots of gluten free options.
Pro tip: You will need to sit at the espresso bar or bar upstairs for an outlet to plug in your computer. It is super busy and loud, so bring headphones!
They have a microwave downstairs for pastries too.
