Maria’s is the perfect spot for breakfast and lunch. They offer lots of gluten free options, including bread and waffles/pancakes. It can be a little loud in there and the wait can be long. It’s always worth the wait!

I was excited to see the transformation from its previous life as a bank is astonishing; there’s no trace of its former identity. The decor is thoughtfully curated, with unique accents and an inviting ambiance. The standout feature is the large, central bar that serves as the restaurant’s focal point. Upstairs, the additional seating area is ideal for hosting a larger group. offering a more private and cozy experience.
As for the food, there were clear winners and a few misses. The Brussels sprouts were a standout dish—perfectly crisp and full of flavor and the squid ink pasta was another highlight. However, the meatballs didn’t quite meet my expectations and are something I’d skip next time.
For those with gluten sensitivities, Wood Stack is accommodating, offering substitutions throughout much of the menu. I’m looking forward to returning and exploring more of their offerings.
A quirky spot for health-conscious shoppers, offering pricey specialty foods but lacking in everyday grocery essentials.

An anecdote about Whole Foods: I needed salt. Just salt. After squinting through a long row of coarse sea salt, Himalayan pink salt, smoked salt, fleur de sel and low-salt salt (whatever that means), I determined that THIS SUPERMARKET DOES NOT HAVE NORMAL SALT. An employee sympathetically said “oh I know exactly what you mean… yeah I don’t know if we have that.” I ended up getting kosher salt—naturally, by going to the kosher aisle. Close enough, I guess.
On its own, it’s a funny story. But this fits a pattern. Like the time I wanted sausage and noticed just in time that what I had wasn’t real meat. Or the time I got home, realized my $8 ice cream tasted funny, then checked the package and found tiny print saying it was sugar-free.
Whole Foods is an excellent place to buy alternate foods for a gluten-free, vegan, paleo or whatever diet. They’re an absolute mecca for fancy imitations of everyday brands (it’s just like an Oreo, but it costs $12 a pack!). Many of the store-brand items are very good quality.
But as a general-purpose supermarket, it’s an incredibly aggravating place to shop: the produce is usually good, but the selection is underwhelming, many commonplace items are nowhere to be found and the prices are through the roof (similar to what I paid in Manhattan before moving here). And the whole Amazon situation has not helped anything.
I go sometimes because the location is convenient. Oh what I would give to have a real grocery store in that same spot!
Cozy and unique, this spot offers fast service and a standout Tonkotsu broth with special takeout containers for a perfect experience.

Great Atmosphere and delicious food here and the option for Gluten Free noodles. It’s a neat cozy place with great staff and authentic flavor! Was about to order the egg add-on and my knowledgeable waiter informed me that the egg was made with soy sauce and would therefore contain gluten. A literal life saver!

Super cozy brunch spot! I had the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had and a delicious omelette. The service was excellent, and they handled my food allergies (nuts and gluten) very well. I was very impressed with the variety of menu options and I will definitely be visiting again next time I’m in Metuchen! Highly recommend!!

delicious!! reliable place for absolutely scrumptious food. this past time we went on a sunday night so the game was on, and as such service was slower than usual bc our waiter was watching lol. i usually get the gluten free shepherds pie which is amazing, but this time i got the old bay cod which is nearly as good. my boyfriend got the turkey reuben and it is the only meal i’ve witnessed him unable to finish at the table because it is so filling and tastes amazing. beautiful atmosphere, most weekend evenings it gets very busy (though service is always splendid), and thus very loud, but if this is an issue for you they have seating a bit away from the bar area where it is much quieter without sacrificing the vibes.
Discover a gem with amazing flavors, great vegan options, and a welcoming vibe that keeps guests coming back for more!

We went for brunch there when hatch 44 had a long waiting list for brunch. I'm so glad we discovered this place! Everything was wonderful for our party of six, vegans and non-vegans alike. from the hot matcha latte to ALL the appetizers and entrees, everything was so good. This place exceeded our expectations. The owner was so accommodating and friendly. There are gluten-free options as well. We can't wait to go back!
A clean spot with attentive service and standout flavors, perfect for a tasty return visit.

Friendly waitress, clean atmosphere and excellent service. They were genuinely concerned with my Gluten Free questions and showed me a menu that has GF entrees. They checked with the kitchen and informed them of my allergy. Food was delicious, I can taste lots of fresh garlic in my chicken pasta. Definitely would come back!
A welcoming vibe and a fantastic team make this spot a great hangout spot for tasty bites and a cheerful atmosphere.

Updating my review from a year ago. I recently stopped by as they have changed their menu and was pleasantly surprised. They have expanded their menu and improved the quality. They also serve all you can eat sushi 🍣 for $31 pp weekend price, which is very decent. I loved that I can try all different rolls and appetizers. We have been back 3 times since. Sushi is fresh and the sauce on the rolls are delicious. Definitely recommend the ika salad. Gluten free by nature.

Back for more delish sweets. Love the triple chocolate cake, not too sweet 🍰, the passion fruit sauce panna cotta is my favorite. Flan 🍮 is 😋. Some items are priced a bit high but all worth it. They have limited gluten free desserts but I didn’t see gf & dairy free.
They stayed open for us when we were delayed by a tornado alert. Aaaaand the steaks were amazing! I called ahead to ask about their gluten free options, and the woman on the phone was very helpful and polite.
My all time favourite Restaurant….i love it.
it’s hard to find such Delicious Thai restaurant with gluten free and vegetarian options love it . I love Tofu Tod ,Tofu soup (which mix with veggies),
Kee Mao(Drunken noodle) and of course Thai Ice Tea☺️
If you’re pure vegetarian or vegan make sure to confirm about ingredients whatever u ask for like spring rolls it’s vegetarian but it does have eggs and also when you ask hot sauce or chilli paste they have one which contain oysters sauce/Or anything? so do clarify that and the other one dry chilli powder(No meat sauce ) is good if you want spicy 🌶
Expect a consistently fantastic breakfast experience with large portions, great coffee, and a menu that caters to diverse preferences.

I decided not to get anything, they do have gluten free and vegan options, but I decided not to risk it before a 6 hour drive. I'm gluten, dairy and soy free. Cross contamination with gluten will make me sick. It would be nice to see what the gluten free and vegan options have in it so I could make my choice without having the waitress go back to make sure everything is safe for me. My wife had eggs over east, pancakes, hash brown and bacon. My one complaint, I guess I'm getting old, but the music outside and inside were very loud.
