We went there today as a table of 5 and we were very excited as we heard very good things about their gluten free menu. No sooner did we order and a mouse ran across the floor below our table! The food came and I’m not sure what kind of meat is used in the egg rolls but they were the worst I’ve ever had. No one at the table ate as the food was not good. What a great place!!! The only thing better than the food is the exceptionally friendly and accommodating staff, especially Marico who seems to be there from dawn to closing and is as nice at the end of the day as he is at the beginning. A MUST if you are passing through Bad deck (even worth making a detour for a stop). AND they have an amazing gluten free selection of most of their menu!!

Sweet Hereafter is an adorable cheesecake and coffee/tea restaurant, perfect for a date, catch up, late night dessert or to take out. It’s a ‘Ma and Pa’ business, locally owned and operated and the Pa makes all the recipes. And they have gluten free options. They’re closed on Sundays and Mondays so plan ahead. The service is always great, we’ve had a couple great servers who have been very personable and make the experience that much better, and the food is amazing. I had been to Side Hustle before twice and had such a lovely experience.
So I’m not thrilled to write this. But feel the need to share as I am concerned about what happened to me.
I popped into eat some lunch during burger week, and they only had a burger week menu. Really nothing else on it. Which as a small place I guess is expected.
I was about to head out, and the server recommended the Thai chilli chicken, and I said I can’t eat really spicy food. I then asked if the gluten free Thai chilli chicken could be made less spicy as it was the ONLY thing on the menu that wasn’t beef, or tofu that could be made gluten free.
The server said yes - the kitchen could not add the spicy chili jam to the burger. And I was like great I’ll have that.
The burger came out, everything looked good.
3 bites in and I can barely breathe.
They included the spicy chili jam, and as someone who can’t do super spicy items I nearly choked in the restaurant. It was quite embarrassing actually, I was coughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face. Made worse by how echoey the bar is itself.
The server finally came by after I was coughing for several minutes and I told him there is spicy chili jam on this. He says he will get them to remake it.
I had gotten nauseous from coughing so hard I don’t even want to eat more of the food that isn’t spicy (aka the fries I paid extra for)… So I just say no, thanks. You can take it. I had only eaten a handful of fries and a couple bites of the burger.
It was pretty bad, I was pretty embarrassed.
And I wasn’t even finished my cider before the bill was handed to me.
They charged me for 50% of the meal, burger and fries even though I didn’t eat most of it.
I likely should have said something to the server however I was already embarrassed from coughing so loudly.
I likely will take a second thought before heading back as everything is expensive now, and I’d like to eat what I pay for.

I failed to finish off the pizza crusts, as delicious and light as they were, as the bowl of seafood chowder I shared with my wife as a starter ended up 90% in my belly and I was a little full!! That chowder was better than any we'd ever tasted in the finest seafood restaurants in Boston or Seattle...
The pizza sauce on the Mediterranean Masterpiece (bold title, but it lived up to it) was deliciously full of depth and flavour and the distribution of toppings was perfect - every mouthful was a delight.
We are so happy we ate at Little Christo's tonight and just hope we get to eat there again in the future.

Such a fun place to eat. Celiac safe (in my experience) and most of the menu can be made gf. It tends to be noisy so if you're not into that kind of thing it's something to be aware of. It's a cozy spot and the service is always top notch. Once a dish wasn't what I'd hoped and the server inquired why I wasn't eating much. I didn't want to complain but after I told them I wasn't into it they brought a free dessert after offering to replace the whole meal (I was already full so I didn't want another). The one time I didn't love what I got they more than made up for it with the service. That same day I ate a bunch of another persons pasta and theirs was excellent, I think what I had was a one off and have gone back with 0 issues since.

Food was delicious. Just landed today from Ireland and were on a way to lunenberg when we all suddenly were starving so we went into Vernon's. Loved it. I highly recommend the fried chicken and fries. YUMMY!!!! one of the two teenagers with me had mac n cheese and the other classic burger as well as milkshakes. There were stuffed after. I forced myself to have a gluten free cheesecake and I'm glad I did. It was gorgeous. Just under a 100 dollars for the 3 of us which I found reasonable. The food was gorgeous. I would seriously recommend to go there and try it. Might even go for round two when we are passing on way back to Halifax.
