After a long walk and exhausted by the biting wind of Reykjavik in December, we went to a small place called Reykjavik chips of which I had already read reviews in the preparatory phase of the trip and which I had asked if they served gluten free meals through an E-Mail. The place is small and not particularly furnished but it is warm and the scent as soon as you enter is inviting. At the average cost of 2500 isk, around 15 euros or a little more, they serve excellent burgers more or less stuffed with a side of french fries (classic or sweet) depending on your taste, also offering the option of a fish burger, or at the same price it is also possible to order a plate of fish and chips...Delicious and strictly Icelandic fish, just as good and tasty is the hamburger meat which has nothing to do with that of famous fast food chains...The crispy chips are good and salted to the right amount and included in a complete menu you will have a sauce to choose from among the many that the restaurant serves. Good lunch and fair price for Iceland. For children you will also find chicken nuggets. Advised.

Very good cuisine😁, the dishes are neat and the taste is really there.
The waitresses are kind to explain to us based on a dietary restriction.
Quite expensive for a dish with 6 potatoes. The menu is quite short in choice and that's good because the fewer there are, the better the dish.
The desserts all look delicious but very few are gluten-free.
Enjoy a cozy spot with a daily-changing menu of delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes, plus sweet treats and a lovely atmosphere.

Lovely, home-feel atmosphere with set vegetarian set lunches. A local place with hardly any tourists, which gives an authentic ambiance. Some gluten-free cakes and meal options. Small and cozy. But pricey... like anything in Iceland
Cozy vibe with delicious, fresh dishes that keep locals coming back for memorable meals, plus space for big groups—definitely worth booking ahead!

Himalayan Spice is cozy and inviting with some of the best food and best service I've had in town. As a local, it's expensive to eat out so we when we do, we pick places where we know the food is fresh and delicious and where we will be well taken care of. That's why my group of friends all chose Himalayan Spice to have a dinner to kick off the holiday season.
The momo (house made dumplings) are always popular as a starter or a main course. This time I had chicken tika curry and it was as warm and rich as I had hoped it would be -- perfect for a wintry night!
We have a friend who is extremely sensitive to gluten and one nice thing is that she never has to worry when eating here -- you can let your server know about any food allergies or intolerances and they will take good care of you.
Highly recommend -- note there is an upstairs with good space to make big tables so larger groups are no problem. Be sure to book in advance!
Nestled at the end of Rainbow Street, this vibrant spot offers amazing vegan dishes and a cozy terrace, perfect for a casual meal with friends.

Definitely my favorite restaurant of our 10 day trip! The Mama Curry, Dal, and Naan were all delicious. Most dishes can also be made gluten-free, just not the naan. Kombucha on tap as well :)
A cozy gem with beautiful decor, showcasing an array of delicious pastries and hot chocolate, perfect for a warm break during city explorations.

A lovely experience. We had a birthday on this trip and they had the perfect patisserie for her 'Birthday cake'. We were so pleased with our selection and that there were multiple gluten-free options.
Exceptional fish dishes shine here, but service can be hit or miss; the charming vibe and fresh catch make it worth a visit.

We entered cold and tired, we left reinvigorated and extremely full.
As a gluten-free option we could take the scampi and cream soup (good) and all the main dishes, i.e. the fish pans, absolutely great: generous portions and WOW flavours.
Informal but refined environment
Precise and kind service
Costs in line with the city

The very cozy place. We went at the beginning and end of our trip and ordered the same thing, the burger with the Icelandic pancake, very very good. I asked for gluten-free bread and they adapted it to me without a problem. They also told us that the lobster dog is great.
A must-visit for its quirky decor, cozy vibe, and unique features like a themed bathroom and inviting outdoor terrace.

The gluten-free brownie is fart-dry! Every Suoermarkt mix is better! The vegan carrot cake was ok, but not a hit and at 10 euros it was simply too expensive! There are definitely better coffees in Reykjvik!

Great juices, but not suitable sandwiches for gluten free intolerants and coeliacs ! They couldnt grill the bread with paper that would secure no cross contamination, as I did experienced in Denmark.
With free refills, a vibrant atmosphere, and unique kitchen tours, this spot offers a memorable experience that keeps everyone coming back for more.

You have to come here. You Have To Come Here. YOU HAVE TO COME HERE!
They have one of the best (if not the best) fish soups I have had in my life❤️❤️❤️
If you’re celiac, they have specially prepared lamb or tomato soups. You can have as many lamb or tomato refills as you want. Their service is super friendly.
Prices are more than fair for Icelandic average. And, there were FREE Waffles?!!
I would give 6 stars if I could 🤩

Great food, great service! Many vegetarian and even gluten free options:) it's located in a food hall, so in the evenings (especially on weekends) it may not be easy to find a place to seat. It was super nice during lunch time tho:)
Ate dinner here a few times during our stay in Reykjavik, lovely food and service.
Pizza's we're offered on Gluten Free bases, safely ate here as a Coeliac.
An interesting menu featuring massive combos, delectable potatoes, and a vibe that promises a unique burger experience at a great price.

Nice place they have gluten-free options but obviously can not guarantee cross contamination, but they do try and make an effort. Food was delicious and the staff was friendly and helpful.

We recently had lunch at this restaurant located in a food court in Iceland, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. We ordered a burger and lamb.
Although they didn’t have gluten-free buns available, they were accommodating and made adjustments to the burger, which I appreciated. The lamb was tender and flavorful.
The service was efficient, with a distinct fast-food vibe, though the quality was noticeably higher. You order at the counter, receive a device, and then pick up your food when it's ready. It’s a convenient system, especially in a food court setting.
Overall, everything was good, and I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a quick yet satisfying meal.

We ordered GLUTEN FREE MEALS and one meal was NOT GLUTENFREE (looks like you guys just added Seitan). Now my girlfriend is sick as a dog during our vacation! If you don't know what glutenfree means as a vegan restaurant, you have a problem. This is dangerous!!

The staff was so friendly! I heard the barista talk to the customers before me about great cafes and restaurants for vegan and gluten free diets, which I think is really nice.
The cafe was very aesthetic too with lots of seating and in the middle of the main street in Reykjavik. I got the iced matcha latte and it was honestly one of the best matcha lattes I've had. Definitely will go again!

My husband and I will go on record to say this cafe has the BEST Hot Chocolate we've ever had, in any country, ever! I am gluten free and there were many food options to enjoy as well - the almond pastry and gf bread with butter, ham and cheese were fantastic. My husband really enjoys the waffles. Already have another trip to Iceland planned and this stop is one of the first on the list!
With a cool, artsy vibe and ample breakfast options, this spot is perfect for groups and offers generous portions that won’t disappoint.

Nice restaurant! The server was really helpful and nice. There were lots of gluten-free options, also for celiacs. The hot chocolate was not really my cup of tea but that could be because it’s just different in my country. All the food tasted amazing though. The restaurant was clean except for the toilets.
Expect a vibrant atmosphere with a diverse menu that caters to various preferences, plus standout desserts that keep patrons coming back.

If you are celiac or have a gluten sensitivity, I’d highly recommend this restaurant for you. The staff was so knowledgeable and helpful. They were able to create most things on the menu gluten free. They brought out fresh bread that was gluten free with an olive tapenade. The lamb was delicious. But the star was the coconut crème brûlée with passion fruit ice cream.
A top-notch spot with an impressive menu that keeps everyone happy and excited to return for more amazing experiences.

ABSOLUTELY EAT HERE! It was that amazing we are here twice! The staff were very friendly and went above and beyond! Nothing was too much trouble! The first night we went for a beef steak and then the next night we went for a variety of beef steaks, burgers along with whale and horse steaks!
All the food was AMAZING and the best steak that I have ever had! I also have a gluten allergy and the staff were knowledgeable around what could be eaten and there were loads of options!
We also celebrated my mums birthday here and the staff definitely added to the celebrations to make special memories.
Chill vibes with adorable cats, scrumptious baked goods, and a cool drink menu make for a delightful hangout spot.

We had so much fun here! My wife and I are visiting Iceland for our honeymoon and had to stop here as we were missing our kitty cats back home. The cats at this cafe are clearly well-loved and we had a great time getting to spend time with them. The beverages were good and so were the pastries. I had a delicious vegan and gluten-free raspberry cake that I will be dreaming about for days to come! The space is small so I would not recommend bringing a group larger than 4. They even sell some merchandise such as shirts, stickers, and artwork! We will be back next time we are in Iceland!

Best meal in Iceland. The lamb was probably the best lamb I’ve ever had. Staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. Partner has a gluten intolerance and they helped us navigate the menu and were great with substitutions. Highly recommend!

I came here twice because the food was so delicious! Both times I ordered the gluten free option (arctic char with potatoes) and ordered extra fries and sauce. I found it a bit hard to find good gluten free food in Reykyavik but this place never disappoints. The shop is cute, and staff is friendly and helpful with the gf options. Don't come in lunch and dinner time cos it's packed but any other time it was easy to grab a table.

Wonderful atmosphere. I liked the waiting area that is by the door so that you can wait for all your guests to arrive.
The menu is a bit exotic with shark, horse, and other unique meats.
However, they also cater to vegan and gluten-free. That was great.
The assistants are aware and appear almost as you lift your head looking for one.
The decor is exquisite and well thought out, it's giving barn but elegant.

Stopped here during the Reykjavik Geopark tour. The soups are good (and gluten free) with one refill. This is a very expensive restaurant in comparison to ones in Reykjavik.
The soup and coffee is self serve which is very convenient. The service is very fast for anything else that is ordered. All in all, a good experience, just unusually expensive.
This spot offers an amazing array of unique dishes and creative cocktails, making it a must-visit for an unforgettable experience.

My husband and I went here on a whim. I cannot recommend it enough. The Reykjavik mule was 10/10. We did tapas and had: pan fried perch, potatoes, carrots, butternut risotto, and the seafood soup. Everything was amazing and gluten free. I will be back!
Based inside hotel center midgardu, good restaurant at competitive prices with a varied menu, my husband is gluten free and they altered the meal to accomodate gluten free foods. Staff are attentive and friendly. Nice atmosphere.
Fresh, excellently cooked fish at a great price in Reykjavik; just be ready to wait as they don’t take reservations.

My partner had the fish and chips, which he said was "okay." I have celiac disease and I don't eat seafood. I asked the young gentleman at the counter if the chicken could be made without bread crumbs and he said, "yes." So I ordered that. When he repeated the order back, I again specified "with no breadcrumbs." That's twice, for those keeping track at home. When the order arrived at my table, the chicken was very breaded. I gently explained to the waitress that I couldn't eat it and I explained what had happened with her colleague at the counter. I was in no way rude. She asked if I wanted to change my order to the only gluten free item on the menu, the arctic char filet. I declined, politely. The gentleman from the counter then came hot into the dining room to refund me cash and started yelling at me that he told me it had breadcrumbs and I should have told him I needed gluten free. I responded that the conversation we had was as I recounted above. He literally YELLED at me, totally creating a scene. I was diagnosed with celiac disease over a decade ago and I have traveled extensively in that time. I have NEVER had a problem before, and I've certainly never been yelled at by an employee in the dining room over a simple misunderstanding. I would suggest that this young man undergo further training before he is allowed to interact with customers. Or perhaps he needs to work on his communication skills.
Incredible views of the harbor, generous portions, and a cozy vibe make this spot a must-visit for a relaxed experience.

Great location and great view from the windows.
I love the fact that they don't serve whale meat.
