We just tried Maepole for the first time, and WOW!! Their slogan is so accurate: Healthy comfort food. Everything was delicious!! I had the braised cabbage with rice and tofu. AMAZING! The sauces were incredible and every menu item but one was gluten free. Inside atmosphere was a little standard, but the patio is lovely with all kinds of plants and flowers. We’re going back right away!

This is a charming diner. However when I inquired about their ability to meet my daughter’s food allergy (which would have meant cleaning a spot on the cook top to ensure no egg contamination) the response was they were too busy to accommodate allergies which was disappointing. The food smelled great but we had to leave and go to a restaurant willing to accommodate her allergy. I advise calling ahead to check if you have any allergies beyond gluten. We will not be back because we cannot predict when they may deem themselves slow enough to accommodate.

I wish I could give this place more than five stars.. I cannot recommend this place enough! From being greeted at the door and to our amazing server- everyone is just fantastic and matches the atmosphere 1000%. I have a gluten allergy which can restrict a majority of most menus for me but not the case here! A majority of the menu is gluten friendly and even had gluten friendly desserts. The chocolate pot de crème is seriously sinful and a must try! Soooo good!

What a surprise! The grits are so good and creamy! Yum! I had eggs, smoked salmon with dill and cream cheese. I’m gluten free but my husband said the biscuits were so light and fluffy… he ate mine! Will visit again since there were so many good options on the menu.

Stopped here while passing through on vacation. Food was great, a little greasy but it's a burger and thats what makes it so good! I have celiac and was able to have an UDI's gluten free bun with my Yankee burger which was delicious. Service was great and very knowledgeable about menu.

Brandon our sever was great! A party of 60 came in and he had to assist with that party but never let that affect his service for us! Excellent. Also has gluten free pasta option and it was delicious!!

I wanted this place to be so good. I have Celiac, so I was so looking forward to a good gluten free crust. Maybe if they had cooked it enough that the cheese was melted and the crust wasn’t soggy, it could have been ok…unless you count the fact that I won’t be able to get my rings off tomorrow because my hands are so swollen from the salt content. I ate two pieces because I was starving, but I threw the rest away. For $17 I expect WAY more. This was flat out inedible. I’m sincerely disappointed.

Enjoyed the tasty pizza here at Mello Mushrooms. A lot of menu choices, even gluten free and plant based pizzas which is a plus for me. The service was great, attentive & accommodating. We came here on a Monday for lunch so it wasn't very crowded. The restaurant is quite large, however, the bathroom was closed off due to construction. Ordered the House Special, Holy Shiitake and 1 topping pizza with cheese and pepperoni. Pizzas were flavorful and delicious. I would definitely come back again.

If you have allergies, they are not very careful. Got really sick here with gluten even though I told the cashier that I was highly allergic to gluten. She assured me they took the necessary precautions, yah no, got super sick! Glad it's not a life threatening allergy.

Tim the head chef created the most delicious Ath-Hash vegan dish, with tofu, spiralized vegetables, and the perfect amount of spices and salt. It was served with delightfully crunchy sourdough toast. My daughter enjoyed her gluten-free bread, too. And my granddaughters said the toasted cheese-and-ham sandwiches from the kids' menu was great.

Great food, super fast service. Mildly busy when we arrived, we ordered at counter, by the time we got drinks and sat down, it was maybe 4 minutes until our food arrived. Fresh, yummy, nice atmosphere, good margarita. We were traveling and this honestly took no more time than Chipotle, but was 10x better. Oh and handled my gluten and dairy allergy well, I didn't get sick.

I've eaten here a number of times, and the staff is always incredibly helpful and kind! The process is smooth and the atmosphere is really relaxed in a clean, modern style. It's a nice lunch spot to meet a friend or two, but I don't think it's set up for large groups. The outside space is also really great whenever it's warmer weather! Right now they have "flannel Fridays" where you and a friend can go together, both wear flannel, and get two bowls for the price of one. It's a really great deal! It's excellent for difficult dietary restrictions, although my Celiac husband hasn't braved it yet since cross contamination is such a big concern with Celiac. If you're gluten intolerant or just a brave Celiac, I could see this being a great place to try! All other dietary restrictions I can think of seem easy to accommodate here. If it bothers you that a restaurant has any nuts at all, be advised that peanuts are in a few of the bowls. My best friend is allergic and has no issues, but you know what's best for your own needs.

We made a special trip to try Jinya and we're so glad we did. They offer a gluten free option for noodles which was the reason for giving it a try. The waitress was super friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and offered guidance when she learnt it was our first visit. The food was incredible and well worth the drive. There was a small issue with my daughter's meal which we brought to the waitress's attention. She and the the gentleman in the restaurant overwhelmed me with their caring responsiveness. While we weren't able to finish our lunch, we are definitely looking forward to going back to give it another try. Great food and atmosphere are a big part of it but it's the excellent service and demonstration of inclusion and acceptance that made us decide we want to go back.

Ordered the Super Sub - Giant, with Onions, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Red Wine Vinegar, Olive Oil Blend, Oregano, Salt, Mayo, Banana Peppers, and, unfortunately, Udi's Gluten Free bread. Since my bout with COVID, I have developed a disturbing sensitivity to gluten. I'm hoping it will pass, because I like bread, but the nausea is frequently unbearable. So, I thought I should try the gluten free bread. It resembles bread only in appearance. Imagine the flavor of a stale baguette constructed from wood pulp and sawdust. It isn't chewy, it is chalky. The sandwich's toppings were perfectly acceptable, but the Udi's gluten free bread is inedible.

They seemed to be having a ton of trouble with order accuracy. Three ladies who ordered prior to me had problems with the subs that they ordered and had them fixed. Then I had ordered a gluten free sub which they made with normal white bread which they charged me for a second time in order to get the correct sub. On top of that neither of their sprite fountains were working which I told the cashier of and they never bothered to correct it.

I had the warm pleasure of dining at South Kitchen + Bar in downtown Athens after receiving my master’s degree from the University of Georgia, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, everything about the evening was perfect, thanks in large part to our outstanding server, Erin Wilson. Erin made our party of eight feel special and well-cared for throughout the night. She struck the perfect balance of professionalism and personality, making us laugh while seamlessly managing our large group. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive—she recommended the best drinks, expertly guided us through gluten-free options for a couple of guests, and ensured we never went without refills. Even though there was a large event happening in another room, her attentiveness never wavered. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, with a warm, clean, and inviting atmosphere. It was the perfect spot for such a special occasion. I was fortunate to snag a reservation after another party canceled, and it felt like fate. Who wouldn’t want to dine there after becoming a UGA alumni! South Kitchen + Bar exceeded all expectations, and Erin Wilson elevated the experience even further. If you’re looking for incredible service, a stunning environment, and top-notch food and drink in Athens, I can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you, Erin, for helping make such a memorable day even more unforgettable!

My student organization had Dawg Gone Good BBQ cater a staff appreciation lunch and it was perfect! Not only was it reasonable, but everyone (including vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy free individuals) had something tasty to eat! The owner (BJ) and staff were super friendly and responsive. I highly recommend considering Dawg Gone Good BBQ catering!

Delicious. Good Athens staple for sure. I was pleasantly surprised as it takes a lot to impress me for brunch. I was torn with what to get but went with the sausage grit bowl. And the flavor was on point. They even let me switch out the biscuit for fruit since I am gluten free. Very reasonable pricing too.

This was absolutely a home run! I got basil fried rice with chicken and my wife got pad Thai (she has a gluten and dairy allergy) and both were fantastic! “Medium heat” has a pretty good kick to it. I loved it in my fried rice and my wife said it made her nose run and eyes water in her pad Thai 🤣 Highly recommend Siri Thai!

I come here at least once a week, know all the staff by name, and feel like we're actual friends at this point. Michael (the owner) is wonderful. Ashlynn and Kimberly are amazing. Everyone who works there is super kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. I am slowly making my way through the entire menu, because I'm thoroughly addicted to the loaded teas in particular. If it has sour blue, I'm drinking it. I get my husband a shake here every time I go, and he has a "usual" at this point. He has Celiac Disease and needs gluten-free with no cross contact or anything, and they're always willing to clean the blenders and do whatever needs to be done. When I go, my best friend is usually with me, and she is allergic to soy and nuts (including coconut), among other things. At this point they remember her allergies, and when she comes in and asks if she can have a certain menu item, they're able to tell her easily. At first she apologized for being difficult, but they truly don't seem to mind, and are always super sweet about it all. We love it here, and I hope they're open for a million years and my schedule always permits me to visit every week! Get the Hocus Pocus, Watermelon Jolly Rancher, Sour Patch, Friday The 13th, or virtually anything else. I have never had anything I didn't like!

I ordered online for pickup Sunday night. My pizza was almost done when I arrived all of the employees were attentive and professional (hard to find in young employees these days) and I was in and out in 3 minutes. THANK YOU for having gluten free. Both pizza were cooked to perfection and delicious. Killer is easily my number one choice for pizza now.

The menu lists gluten free options, but this location really has very few, especially for a gluten free vegetarian. The house potato chips are gluten free and tasty! (And, that's about it.)
