I visited L for You AOYAMA, a gluten-free cafe for intestinal health in Omotesando. I've been eating and drinking a lot these past few days, so I came here to give my stomach a rest (^^)... I had burdock and mushroom intestinal health soy milk soup, a plate of brown rice and vegetables, and pomegranate green tea. I'm so happy it's gentle on my stomach...no guilt... It also came with a small banana bound cake, so I was very satisfied! Thank you for the meal (^_^)!

Amazing gluten free pistacchio cake and cheesecake. Fresh juice, not too sweet. Quiet and comfortable. Will definitely come back! Edit: Have been here three times now, would 100% recommend this place!

We specifically visited this place so my coeliac partner could order off the menu. We were not disappointed, plenty of GF options and he said the pizza was delicious. We also tried a mix of the chicken wings and they were also delicious. We went quite early so were the only ones there. Marks down for service only because the welcome wasn't super warm and the American man who works or owns the place seemed quite frosty. The woman who served us was very pleasant and polite. I would recommend the food here ☺️

Absolutely delicious chicken tikka masala. Cozy place and very friendly staff. The owner is very knowledgeable about gluten, and all the curries were gluten free.

Very nice and friendly environment, I was searching one more time a gluten free (celiac) place with good sushi and I found it! I showed my translated paper with the information about my disease and they made me an amazing sushi!

I found a natural cafe that serves gluten-free shortcake and other healthy sweets. They also don't use meat, eggs, dairy products, refined sugar, or chemical seasonings. Great for vegans too♪ They have a wide variety of coffees, so I recommend them to those looking for decaf coffee◡̈ And the prices are surprisingly cheap. This area is close to Ginza, so I was prepared to pay a fair amount, but I was surprised at how cheap it was and it was easy on the wallet, so I was happy. The interior of the store is made of glass and has a high ceiling, making it a very open and airy space. Thank you for the meal♡

We had no reservation for a large group and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The sushi was exceptional. After 2 weeks in Japan, this was by far the best sushi we had it was spectacular. Cannot recommend enough. They bad gluten free soy sauce and a gluten free menu for me.

The gluten free pancakes were delicious 😋! So fluffy and tasty. The banana toffee dessert was also yummy. It's a Western style menu. Highly recommend!

DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU ARE COELIAC!!! I ordered from here the other night (it was actually great food and super well priced) and then went to order again today and reiterated that I’m coeliac and it’s an allergy and the person said that even though it says ‘gluten-free’ it’s ALL IN THE SAME FRYER!!!! I was really disappointed because the person serving me the other night hadn’t told me this and I had a reaction and couldn’t figure out where I’d eaten gluten. Please educate your staff when someone is ordering gluten-free there is a high chance it is an ALLERGY and not by choice.

We ate here because we understood the menu, the friendly welcoming staff and the fact that there were some gluten free options, suitable for a coeliac, as well as vegetarian options. I elected to have the gluten free spaghetti Neapolitan and it was done to my liking. The others enjoyed the delicious pumpkin soup, spaghetti Neapolitan, and braised chicken salad. Our lovely wait person, Pyone, assisted us greatly in explaining gluten free and vegetarian options. On our return visit we were again greeted by Pyone, as well as Nene who assisted us. Lovely friendly staff!

I have been here multiple times throughout my stay in Japan and enjoyed eating here. The chicken curries I tried were very tasty and rich. After asking it was confirmed that they are wheat free and possibly gluten free. Order with rice in this case. The staff is kind. Even when it is busy, they try to accommodate your wishes. The price is okay in my opinion.

What a fantastic place to eat. It was a little difficult to find as it is at the end of a narrow corridor from the main road. But the welcome was authentic and very friendly. Although English is not spoken, they understood about gluten allergies without any prompting. This helped make it a very relaxing evening for someone who has celiac disease. Definitely a very good start to our first trip to Japan. The chicken skewers were perfectly cooked and succulent.

[Since I was not able to go to the restaurant, this is not a review about the taste of the food or the atmosphere. I am posting this for information as there may be other people who may be disappointed in the precautions we take regarding allergies. ] This restaurant appears at the top of the search results for things such as "We can accommodate wheat allergies in Tokyo" and "Gluten-free," but based on the results, if you can't eat wheat/barley due to a wheat allergy or celiac disease, It looks like you can't eat here. When I made a reservation online, there was a field that said if you have any allergies, please enter them here, so I entered that I would like it to be gluten-free. ``One person has gluten, egg, and milk allergies. Gluten = wheat is also included in seasonings. Is it okay to use seasonings such as soy sauce, miso, and vinegar? If seasonings cannot be used, we cannot accommodate your request. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we would appreciate it if you could check and reply. ” I received an email. Of course, most regular soy sauce contains wheat, so if a restaurant claims to be ``gluten-free'' or caters to people with wheat allergies, they may sell soy sauce made only with wheat-free rice or soybeans. This means that we always have Irutamari soy sauce on hand. Restaurants that can accommodate allergies will often tell you that it is possible to use regular soybean miso instead of barley miso, pure rice vinegar instead of grain vinegar that contains wheat, or only those customers can use citrus fruits in their dishes. I replied, ``Ordinary soybean miso is fine, rice vinegar is fine, and I'll bring soy sauce if needed.'' “We also offer gluten-free options at our store. However, if the seasoning is not available, we will not be able to accommodate your request. It seemed like there wasn't enough. It may be a good restaurant for people who can eat anything, but I don't recommend it if you have any dietary restrictions. (In Japan, medical care is delayed and testing is not widespread, but wheat, which has been repeatedly bred, places a heavy burden on the human body, so cases of gluten intolerance and celiac disease are rapidly increasing around the world.) In developed countries such as Italy and Finland, restaurants are required to offer gluten-free options, but I hope that understanding will spread in Japan as well. This restaurant comes up in the top search results for "wheat allergy friendly in Tokyo" and "gluten-free", but it seems that if you cannot eat wheat/gluten due to wheat allergy or celiac disease, etc., you can't dine here. When I made our reservation online, there was a box to mention any allergies, so I put in that one person needed to eat gluten-free. I got an email in response, saying, "You indicated that one of your guests is allergic to gluten, eggs, and milk. Gluten = wheat is also found in seasonings. Is it OK to use seasonings such as soy sauce, miso, vinegar, etc.? If these seasonings are not allowed, we will not be able to accommodate your request." In general, restaurants that do accommodate gluten-free diets stock gluten-free soy sauce. I responded, "Regular soybean miso is fine, and rice vinegar is no problem, and I will bring soy sauce if needed." To which they responded (this was in Japanese, so it wasn't lack of language skills), "I'm saying we do accommodate gluten-free diets. However, if the seasonings are not allowed, we are not able to accept the reservation. When we use seasonings that contain wheat in the cooking process, if you use a different soy sauce or miso, the taste of the dish itself may be different, or we may not be able to prepare the dish itself. We are very sorry that you have chosen our restaurant. We would appreciate it if you could make a reservation or visit us at another occasion. [= without the person with allergy.] We are truly sorry for not being able to accommodate you." ...I mean, you can't say, "We accommodate gluten-free diets" and "but we can't cook unless we use our regular soy sauce" in one breath. I wouldn't have minded so much, if they had flat out said "We don't deal with food allergies." If you say in the PR phase that you are allergy-friendly, however, and actually nothing can be changed in the cooking phase, that would be false advertisement. We contacted the restaurant based on word-of-mouth reviews, such as "vegan and gluten-free options are available, which is good for entertaining guests from overseas" and "they were able to accommodate our wheat allergy", but the front desk staff did not seem to understand "gluten-free" or "allergy". If you can eat absolutely anything, this may be a good restaurant for you, but if you have any dietary restrictions, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
