No MSG No Garlic Foodie
We decided to visit Victoria after finding several restaurants offering vegan food. Since Be Love is dedicated vegan and also gluten free, it was my first choice. However, there wasn't that many items on the menu to my taste, but since they promise seasonal items, I had hoped that there would be some pleasant surprises. The rest of my party decided to order organic red and white wines by the glass. I chose Earthblood Tonic juice made with carrot, beet, celery, kale and ginger. It was very refreshing and looked stunning. The Mac Bowl appealed to me because it claimed to have braising greens, seasonal vegetable, and broccoli. I was warned that the sauce contains garlic, but I took a chance hoping that it would be black garlic rather than fresh garlic. Fortunately, the garlic was hardly noticeable and I was not affected. It was a very rich dish and I loved the creamy taste of the sauce. The roasted hazel nuts were strange and tasted as though the vegetables still had soil/sand/grit. I was disappointed with the scant amount of greens and vegetables, and if I had known, I might have asked for extra vegetables. And of course, I could not finish it the macaroni. If it wasn't for the 'gritty texture' I would have rated this four stars. My friends ordered the daily special gluten free ravioli with nettle. They all loved it. We also shared a platter with flatbread, cashew cream cheese, apple & beet chutney. I was only able to have one item because the rest were heavy with garlic.
Experience a unique twist on traditional flavors with inventive dishes, generous portions, and a lively atmosphere that keeps diners coming back.

I went on a personal Fish n Chips tour at every place in Victoria. This was BY FAR the best one. The staff really made sure we had a welcome experience too (I was brining an out of towner...).
I always 75,000/100 recommend people to go here. Great place to bring my 'Celiac' Sister too!

Fantastic place to have brunch!
Being Celiac, there are often challenges with the menus, but here at Johns Place they accommodate for this. I had “Catch 22” which was half eggs benny (GF hollandaise) on a GF bun, and GF waffle.
It was excelllent and so was the coffee!!
Thank you so much for providing these options!!
A cozy spot with an amazing buffet, diverse vegan options, and a warm, inviting vibe that makes it perfect for a quick meal or a chill study session.

Green Cuisine is a Victoria gem. My friends and I regularly order take away and sometimes eat in. The food is always hearty, tasty and great value for money. If we ever have visitors, I tell them to check out Green Cuisine. No one has ever told me they weren't impressed with the food on offer, the prices or the wonderful desserts. As a person with Gluten sensitivities, this place gives me so many options. LOVE IT! Can't recommend this place enough. Long may it continue to provide Victoria with affordable, yummy, no nonsense food.

A very small bakery with a large wood fired oven with which they make a variety of delicious baked goods. Some goods are gluten and other ingredients free. I only left out an "Atmosphere" rating because it is simply a small counter to purchase goods. There is no place to sit.

Amazing food, very friendly and accommodating service, and the vibe is incredible - especially when the band is in the house.I don't know what they put into the focaccia bread, but if go there and pay full pop for the bread alone. It's like pastry - a little crisp on the outside, delightfully fluffy inside, and the dusting of salt flakes...magic.
When I say the food is amazing, I mean the food is AMAZING (the 'Sophia' is as tantalizingly delicious as its namesake).
Extra points for the gluten free pasta option!

They don't have many gluten free options. I ordered and was assured that the kitchen will take care. I got sick later that night as I have celiac disease. So care was not taken.

My wife ordered gluten free, she was served gluten. She is a celiac. Unacceptable. No apology from the server or manager. The item was also left on the bill. I honestly can’t believe this is how this restaurant operates.

Paid 16 dollars (as I gave 2 dollar tip) for some good tasting chicken soup. I was disappointed to see there were only like 3 tiny pieces of chicken in the soup. Also for folks who don’t want bread, maybe provide a gluten free option or reduce the overall price of the meal. The servers were very kind and the soup tasted good but for the price point not so much!

We loved our visit to Finn’s. Great service, food and atmosphere. I had the seafood linguine, my partner had Finn’s burger on a gluten free bun, and we shared the bison Carpaccio to start. Everything was delicious. Sad I didn’t get any pictures.

I ordered pick-up and told them over the phone that I have Celiac Disease and needed them to avoid cross-contamination. When I got home I realized two of the dishes were deep fried. I called them and discovered that the two dishes were deep-fried in the same oil with gluten.
Going forward I hope they remove the 'gf' label next to foods that are fried in a contaminated frier, and train their staff to tell customers with allergies about the frier.
No hard feelings, I just hope this review helps!

Came here for brunch with a Victoria local friend who recommended this restaurant. The inside is nicely decorated with natural light coming in from the windows.
There are plenty of options on the menu and cater to everyone's taste. There are plenty of gluten free and vegetarian items.
They are known for their egg benedicts so we have to give it a try while in Victoria. We ordered the Brisket Benedict on bagel and the Salmon Benedict on croissant (believe there is a $1 surcharge but was told worth the $1 if you like buttery and flaky bread). The bagel was a bit hard to my liking but definitely not soggy even with the eggs and brisket loaded on top. Also, it was quite unique to have a bagel in a benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly with medium runny yolks. The hashbrowns on the side were very crispy and flavourful.
We also ordered drinks to go with the meals. Tropical punch and lavender lemonade are quite popular for non-alcohol options.
Overall, our server was nice and attentive. Food was delicious. This would be my go-to brunch place if I live in Victoria.
A lively spot with great background music, perfect for picking up a tasty lunch and enjoying a cozy atmosphere, even on a busy day.

Very disappointed in my experience here today. The lady at the front till was very kind in explaining their Gluten free menu to me and made me feel comfortable ordering here since I am Celiac. My food was brought out and after I took one bite the same lady ran over and told me to stop eating right away as she failed to note that my order was Gluten Free and for a Celiac! She mentioned she’s glad she caught it quick enough - clearly doesn’t understand Celiac Disease and the importance relating that information to anyone dealing with this order and the fact that it’s to late and I’ve already ingested WAY to much gluten from that 1 bite. Incredibly glad I don’t have a severe food allergy that causes an anaphylactic reaction as her carelessness could have seriously impacted someone’s life. I am in for a very horrific next 24 hours and yes she was apologetic and made me the gluten free order very quick but this is still not acceptable. I will never return here as I do not feel this establishment takes Celiac Disease or even food allergies, for that matter, serious AT ALL. And for those of you thinking it was probably super busy it was completely dead when I came in and ordered (because I’m aware my orders need that extra time and I plan accordingly). Also pretty bad for no management to come out and chat with me after the fact… and no I did not get my 30 dollars back for my 3 tacos… but the lost money is the least of my worries. Celiac people beware!

The only slight complaint was from my senior parents. The temperature inside was too cold. It was January and sat next to a fireplace. The waitress who was AMAZING tried her best to turn the heat up. It was just a drafty area. My daughter, who can't handle much gluten, was very nicely provided with cucumbers and tapanade for her bread course. My parents both have allergies and were informed during each course that the items were both shellfish and tree nut free. Our server seemed very sincere, and the table maintenance was impeccable. The food was great as always. If you understand great Italian food and the way to approach the menu, you'll be in for a treat!

Love, love, love! Came here a few weeks ago while visiting town. My boyfriend and I were in a bit of a rush to get back in the ferry so we wanted something quick and easy. Luckily, Bodega had space for us on the patio and the service was so quick- we were able to enjoy our food without stressing. We ordered four dishes which was the perfect amount for us to share, as well as some olives to snack on. Each dish came out as we finished the last which was great. I was pleasantly surprised that they offer gluten free focaccia which was actually delicious as well as non alcoholic Rosé which was such a special treat. Will be back on our next visit!

I have celiac disease and have been here a few times and the food and service was good. However this morning I went and ordered the same thing I had the past few times with no issues I was informed that the kitchen would not be able to accommodate my allergy as I cannot have any cross contamination and that there were only 2 things on the entire menu that I could choose from. Mind you the two things to choose from were minus the hash browns and toast with the only sub being a small fruit bowl and still paying the same price. The waitress was very nice about everything and very apologetic when we decided not to order anything. However I felt like it is very poor of the restaurant to only be able to accommodate allergies when it’s convenient for them.

Our best night out while visiting Victoria! We loved our delicious Greek dinner. And our host, *Big Dimitri* took amazing care of us! He welcomed us like family, was so warm & professional, and shared all about the history of the restaurant.
We loved our meals- lamb shank, Greek ribs, chicken souvlaki- and dessert! Great gluten free options- I had the chicken souvlaki meal, rice, potatoes, and veggies. And the dolmades for an appetizer. The menu was clearly labelled with lots of gluten free options.
Kids menu as well, and our kids enjoyed it & were treated extra special by staff!

Hands down the best pizza in Victoria @ the best price PERIOD! Also a bonus is that this place has the best options for gluten free and dairy free that you can find in Victoria! The gluten free crust is amazing & they must use a daiya vegan cheese on they're pizza's 😋. So for gluten and dairy sensitive this is hands down the best pizza place in the city for you, and for me who can have dairy and gluten this is by far the best pizza I've had in Victoria in 20 years

I really enjoy the burgers and the gluten free + lactose free options. My whole family craves the burgers. We also love the milk shakes and began milk shake.
But the fries... we no longer order the fries from there. They really really need to bring up their game. Try them at Big Wheel or OPA to taste great, crisp, tasty fries. I see review after review slamming the fries... yet they haven't changed them!?! I'm a bit amazed we aren't being listened to. Perhaps they don't realize they don't travel well? I just don't know.

Marissa was incredible! She was attentive, friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable when dealing with a celiac allergy at our table.
Earl's accommodated a table request, (as most of our group was not able to sit at a high top table) and they left a wonderful birthday card on the table for the occasion. What a perfect touch!
There was an undercooked steak at the table but Marissa was quick to respond and she dealt with this issue easily, bringing the replacement right away.
Everyone in our group was offered a free dessert - assuming as part of the birthday celebration or could have been from the steak recook? Either way, we all left satisfied and very very impressed with the service.
Thank you Marissa and team for helping to make my birthday dinner a special occasion!

My partner and I stopped here on the first night of our anniversary weekend at the suggestion of a friend. The atmosphere of the room was incredible, and all of the staff were very welcoming. We sat at the bar, and the bartender, Riley, was more than friendly, helpful, and accommodating. My partner is celiac, and he let us know what our best choices on the menu were. We ordered the Omakase Shokado, which is a chef-crafted selection of small, separated plates (great for celiac separation). When our food was delivered, the manager gave us a full rundown of everything on the plate, ensuring what was celiac-safe and what was just for me (non-celiac) to eat. The spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, and salmon oshi were also incredible. It was a fully enjoyable experience; everything from the food, drinks, atmosphere, friendly nature, and celiac accommodation was above and beyond. We’ll definitely be back.

The food tastes good. It's a little expensive for a walk up counter when you add on any protein or avocado.
Most of the additions were gluten free, which is why we chose this place.
