Bamboo Sushi is hands down one of my favorite spots in the city, their great food, service and atmosphere is pretty consistent.
Also as a GLUTEN FREE girly I love feeling so safe and comfortable with the menu!
these people know what they are doing! everything is well marked and dedicated GF fryer. kind and thoughtful staff. we make a special trip to Portland, just to get the fried chicken here.
We have seen this place on our travels and always say we should go in. Tonight, we decided to.
We got there at 6:50pm.
First off, what kind of dining establishment closes at 8pm?
We walk inside and nobody is there to greet us.
Fortunately, they have a gong. I don't think it is there to summon the wait staff but did that stop us? No, definitely not.
The host/restaurant manager showed up promptly.
Asked us if we needed a weak constitution (vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free) menu. We did not.
We were escorted back to our both.
It was dark and minimalist. I expected it to be more "exotic" being a Global Restaurant. The walls were mostly bare with a couple French looking paintings.
We were given our menus and told that our waitress would be right with us.
Water was promptly served and then began the wait.
We had to wait a good 15 minutes in an almost empty restaurant before someone came close enough to flag down. Ordered a stuffed mushroom appetizer, a bottle of Savengion Blanc and a couple entrees.
While we waited, I overheard someone at a neighorimg table say they had never seen Back to the Future.(I don't believe you.)
Eggplant Parm and Mushrooms were great. The French Steak was not to my wife's liking.
The wine was great, thank New Zealand.
Overall, I'm glad we went but after spending $120, I don't think I would go again.
Start to finish, Rangoon bistro was the most wonderful experience! Excellent customer service started with a helpful call about hours, dietary restrictions, etc., and carried through to friendly banter with the chefs over absolutely delectable dishes. The tea leaf salad and very large dumpling were the highlights of an all around delicious selection (and are both gluten free!).
We live out of town, but may start making the trip to Portland more regularly to try new items on the rotating menu!
Thanks to everyone at Rangoon Bistro for an unforgettable evening!
Definitely be careful of cross contamination here. We were told there wasn't a dedicated fryer, so anything that when in there had gluten on it. However, the manager was understanding and made my chicken without any breading to make sure it was safe for me.
I got bugolgi beef and it was good, the bowl was big. Their miso soup is aromatic. I loved their cheese and corn, because who doesn’t love cheese and corn?
First time in my life having corn tea and it’s going to be my thing from now on. So grateful this place introduced me to corn tea.
Also cookie points for being gluten free so that my partner can eat here with me :)
We ordered the sweet n sour pork, the five flavor shrimp, and the gluten free orange chicken. The whole meal was delicious. The crab puffs and spring rolls were delicious. Sweet n sour soup was amazing. Will definitely be back.
This restaurant was very accommodating to my dietary restrictions. I have celiac and a severe shellfish allergy. They let me know what dishes they can make gluten free and shellfish free. They were very knowledgeable regarding allergies and food restrictions. My brother is vegan and was able to find something delicious. Great service, atmosphere, and delicious big portioned meals. Would highly recommend.
This is one of my all time favorite places! We drive an hour just to eat here. The food is amazing, generous portions, and gluten/celiac knowledgeable which is huge for me! I will always recommend this place!
I planned a delightful surprise for my wife's birthday weekend by making reservations at this incredible spot! Considering her gluten intolerance and her love for sushi, it was the perfect choice—plus, it was just a short stroll from our hotel. The menu was not only extensive but bursting with flavor, offering something for every palate. The atmosphere was vibrant and inviting, truly enhancing our dining experience. Overall, we had an amazing time with top-notch service that made the evening unforgettable!
Such a great experience, every time. The sushi is always so flavorful and fresh. As someone with an extreme gluten allergy, it’s nice to be able to eat anything without worrying about gluten-poisoning.
I was so excited to discover this cart today, as it's very difficult to find places that are both vegan & GF. Much to my surprise, everything here is gluten free, safe for Celiacs, and most of the items are vegan as well. It took me a few minutes to pick what I wanted to order, as I'm not used to having so many options, but I finally decided on the peachic with the tofu and the black rice pudding. Both were amazing! The portions were large, so I'll be having leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Thanks so much for the delicious food made just for people like me! 😊
I was in town visiting a friend who has a severe gluten allergy and I found Bamboo Sushi on the gluten free app. Looked into it and made a reservation. Informed the server of the allergy and she said there were only 2 items with gluten. One was the burger but could likely be substituted with lettuce instead of the bun and another was an option garnish. Even the tempura is gluten free which is very rare. We decided to get Wasabi Honey Chicken and Smashed Avocado crispy rice as an appetizer. The chicken was really good, had some heat/spiciness, but excellent flavor. The Smashed Avocado crispy rice was really good too but we both liked the chicken more. She got the Unicorn sushi and asked for eel sauce, and I went with the green machine which is vegetarian and asked for spicy aioli. We both really enjoyed the food and we ended with the Matcha panna Cotta. I'm not a fan of matcha so it wasn't for me, but she really enjoyed it. We enjoyed the food so much we came back 2 nights later with her Aunt and ordered chicken karaage for an appetizer (no picture). She got the garden of Eden Sushi and the Friday the 13th sushi and enjoyed both but I think she likes the Friday the 13th better. I got the chili garlic chicken with steamed rice which was very tasty. And her Aunt got the grilled octopus (no picture) and said it too was delicious. Highly recommend checking Bamboo Sushi out. It's a small restaurant and can be a little cramped but the food is delicious!
Wow what can I say… hit every note of the flavors of Korean food in a fine dining manner. Nothing was over done portions were decent and prices were great! Also LOVED that it was all gluten free minus 2 items on the menu. It very well done!!
I wanted to have my 61st B-day dinner here on a Tuesday night (1/30/24), when they were not busy, and we were seated without delay. We have frequented Wu's Open Kitchen at several locations since 2005, and we have not been disappointed since. Even throughout the pandemic trials. This has been our go-to place for Chinese food. More so than any other Chinese restaurants. I strongly recommend them. They have catered to our special dietary needs; gluten-free and Keto. They are now located near the Safeway on 99 in the King City area.
[gluten free review]: This place has been on my list for a while - not because I heard all about it, but because I had driven by it and always wondered what it had to offer. Now, typically a Friday night is not the best time to visit a place that doesn’t take reservations, but upon arrival, we were greeted, waited in line for a few short minutes and then were seated in the bar area. (Be aware - we were just a party of 2 - families of 4-5 ppl waited around 20 min for a table).
After getting seated, we took a minute to decide on our drinks and starters. The wait staff was extremely kind and patient, but didn’t leave us hanging once. We ordered the lettuce wraps as a starter along with two of the spicy cocktails (we both tried a different one).
The chicken that was served with the lettuce wraps gave a crunchy kung-pao type of flavor and we ate those SO fast. We ended up both ordering the spicy street noodles - my partner got the beef and I got the ground pork per my waiter’s suggestion. We finished our meals and loved every bite start to finish!!
The cocktails were absolutely banging with the spicy noodles we ordered ~ the sweet, tangy, tart, spicy flavors all melded together with the tequila for a delightful and fun experience.
We’ll be back soon - but I can’t recommend coming here on a cold day to warm up with some delicious Asian fusion cuisine.
This is one of my favorite go-to spots in Portland! I love the vibe, the service, the food, everything. I eat here at least once a month and have never been disappointed. It’s one of the places I point my out of town friends to go eat at. They have gluten free options!
My go-to order is the pork and rice with a thai iced tea. Today I tried the thai green tea with coconut milk — yummy but not as good as the classic thai tea. Takeout, dine in, it’s all good.
Really great food each time I've been here. The staff are friendly as well. Try some of their specials, like salmon panang curry or avocado curry noodles. Easy to get dairy-free or gluten-free options.
This is a cute Thai restaurant with a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and fun, the staff seem to know everyone by name that come in and the ppl from the neighborhood just stop in to say hi as they are taking their evening walks 😁. The food is so good, and they serve a gluten-free menu, which I appreciate 😋 🙏🏻
They are so wonderful and kind! I have celiac disease and they are great with allergy protocols! I accidentally forgot to mark it an allergy and they happily made me another one even though I felt so bad 😭. We’re so kinda about it and they are just wonderful! Thank you so much again guys!!!!
This place has amazing gluten free options in fried Japanese choices! The sauces were incredible and the food was so tasty and great! We definitely will be back! The service was impressive and the atmosphere was on point! I recommend this place 100%!
Great food, great service, great selection, handicapped friendly restroom. They happily accommodated gluten free. It may be a bit difficult for handicapped folks in the restaurant bc it's very tiny. That being said, it's REALLY great food and they do offer take out and it's also so good. It reminds me of all the photos and videos of tiny sushi places in Japan. They offer all you can eat on Sundays.
Very detailed gluten free menu. Everything was delicious. I was so happy to eat sushi. I also the history is this space. It's very cozy and you can have your own little room.
Lydia was our server tonight and she took such great care of us, we felt like we were her own kids the way we were chatting it up tonight. She is so personable and fun.
The food was spectacular! Nearly everything on this menu is actually gluten free and I was unafraid to eat 90% of this menu! Gorgeous restaurant and actually used to be a speakeasy within the area.
Expand your pallet and give the Lebanese tour a chance, it’s a little bit of everything and really gives you the chance to taste it all. Really was the perfect meal for two to share and fills you up. Make sure to mention if you do have a gluten allergy as they can provide you with pita chips so you’re still included in having a dipping item for all the great sauces you will endure.
Definitely will be back.

This place is great. I think if I didn't have to be gluten free it would be amazing. Since I am, I'm saying it was good/great. (Wish they had Tamari!)
Beautiful restaurant interior. I don't love having to stand in line to order as sometimes the lines are really long but maybe it's different now that things are more open post pandemic.
The outdoor booths are cute but I haven't sat in them yet.
Drinks are excellent too!!
Certain staff know gluten issues, smiles from every staff. Food - fresh, not fishy, we'll prepared, great portions, clean drinking water, amazing selection for families with diverse tastes. Music should be in the air while dining in such an open cathedral type setting. Instrumental, NOT ELEVATOR MUSIC. real instrumentalists of all genres. Thanks for not using a crap ton of rice!! I mean that
This place took so much care to understand gluten free dietary restrictions and they can make most things on menu gluten free. The food was amazing and tasted great. Prices were great. Staff was friendly. They were very busy when we were in. Highly recommend this resturant.
I love P.F. Chang’s! I took my foreign exchange student here because it is one of the few Chinese restaurants that have gluten free food. He has celiac disease, so it was a great option! He got pad Thai and I got Mongolian mix (beef, chicken, and shrimp).
He said his pad Thai had flavor but it could have used a little more flavoring. He still rates it a 9.5/10.
Mine was amazing. It was enough food for lunch and dinner.
We did carry out and I got mine about 10 minutes before he got his and the manager told us we could sit at a table so I could eat. While we waited he gave us free drinks, which was very kind of him!
Now I live in Texas so everything is much cheaper, so for us this was VERY expensive. P.F. Chang’s in Fort Worth is about half the price. Mine was $30 and his was around $23. That’s my only complaint, but I know the PNW is insanely expensive anyway (you have to continue encouraging homelessness somehow).
Overall, fantastic eatery. I highly recommend!
Amazing crepes and they offer gluten free which is amazing. My only issues is they take forever. They told me 10 minutes on the phone, I get here late and they haven’t started it. When they do start making it they move at snail speed, one of the workers friends is walked in and they chatted for a few minutes and he stopped making them and their lobby is full and they have many tickets of orders on the counter. I even called in my order over an hour in advanced. This isn’t my first time in with the time not being what was said. Frustrating being on my lunch hour.
