Rick's place is an absolute gem! We recently visited and had the most amazing night! The food was exceptional with delicious options that cater for lots of different dietary requirements. We needed gluten, dairy and onion free, and had the first dining experience where this was "too easy" and we felt like the inclusion and not exclusion. Rick and Andy are warm, friendly, attentive and genuinely thoughtful, making us all feel so welcome. They take so much pride in providing a fantastic dining experience for all. Couldn't recommend Rick's Place enough! Looking forward to our next visit!

I visited Bodega Underground last year and had an alright experience, however it feels like they’ve really stepped things up since then. Every dish was excellent, flavourful and hot, and staff were very friendly. The kitchen was very efficient and food came out quite quickly. I’d recommend the fish tacos and birria tacos as the must-try. The menu is also 100% gluten free! Don’t forget to book ahead as it can get very busy and they mightn’t have any walk ins available.

100% gluten free menu, didn’t get sick after as a sensitive coeliac. Came here on a double date and got the $69 per person feed me. There was SO much food, we have an appetite and came hungry and we could not finish it all, which was a shame as it was incredible. We have been coming here for years but truly every time we come back it somehow gets better. The staff are awesome & accomodating and really helpful, they made me a super zingy spicy margarita which was great too.

I popped in tonite and ordered the brisket, but I'm gluten and dairy free, the staff were fantastic it turns out for once dairy was a bigger issue than gluten (all options marked and a seperate fryer) but they swapped it over for steak. Which was safe and delicious. Thanks so much

Absolutely fantastic experience at The Albion in Kyneton! The service was excellent from the moment we walked in, and they were incredibly accommodating with dietary requirements — a huge relief as I’m a coeliac. Before I talk about the (absolutely amazing and incredible) food, I want to talk about the service. Kindness is so very rare these days. But you’ll find it in abundance here. Staff and the owner are so accommodating for those of us with disabilities. The first time I came with my support worker, staff happily turned the music down for me, as I was getting very overstimulated. I’ve also ordered through uber eats multiple times. However, today the app did not put my order through as gluten free (possible glitch). Jackson and the owner went well and truly out of their way to rectify this, and get the right order to me. To say I’m grateful isn’t enough. There are no words strong enough to convey how full my heart is, because no other restaurant would go as far as these beautiful souls did. As I am unable to cook for myself right now, the fact they looked after me like this, when it wasn’t even their mistake in the first place, is proof that there are people in Melbourne that truly are the soul and the beating heart of this city. The food itself is beyond delicious. Finding gluten free fried chicken is hard….finding gluten free poutine is even harder! And the grilled zucchini is so delicious, I had to fight my support worker over it haha. The mash and gravy is so comforting with the chicken, it’s real soul food. Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The best food and service! We had an amazing waiter, Mac who gave great recommendations and was very friendly. The gluten free options are extensive, with almost the entire menu being coeliac safe. Would definitely recommend!

We had an excellent time at the Apollo Bay Hotel. Me and 3 friends arrived late into Apollo bay and wanted a decent feed. We came about 30 minutes until the kitchen closed and were met with such welcoming and accomodating customer service. I’m devastated I didn’t get her name, but the groovy woman in the black denim shorts was a gem. She ensured my celiac bestie had nothing to worry about. She offered gf replacements for non-gf elements of the meals. The serving sizes were very generous and delicious. We ate like 50 muscles. It was so good we forgot about our wine ! We will definitely be back, hopefully to see our lovely waitress.

Finding somewhere to eat as a coeliac, is always a very difficult task. WOW, not only did we feel truly welcomed by the fabulous manager, he also pulled up a seat and sat with us to ensure we would have a great dining experience. Full disclosure I was never vegie bar’s hugest fan as the food for me has always been largely average in quality so even as a vegan I haven’t eaten here for years. However when it was one of my friends turn to choose a restaurant for the three of us he chose this one (he has a proven track record for not choosing well). I was determined to give it another shot and, I’ll give them their dues, the staff were overall quite friendly and the restaurant does have a pretty interior. The gnocchi was pretty decent and was even gluten free, one of my friends got one of the pizzas which he said was good however, the other got the laksa which she reviewed as largely lacking flavour and fairly one note. The mulled wine was sickly sweet (I am a massive fan of mulled wine and this was the most shocking imitation I have ever tasted though to be fair they did list sugar as an ingredient I just hadn’t realised how much prominence they’d give that ingredient). When it came time for dessert my friend was informed that they didn’t have the citrus tart so decided upon the special which was apple pie with ice cream, my other friend got a sundae, I asked the waitress what she would order between tiramisu and carrot cake, we landed on carrot cake. A few minutes later, she came back to the table to inform us they were out of both the carrot cake and tiramisu so I also opted for the apple pie. This is where the night really went south. Whilst my friend with the sundae enjoyed it, the apple pie was a textural nightmare for my other friend and myself. The pie casing (because I refuse to call it a crust) had the texture of kinetic sand and seemed determined to coat the entire mouth like glue when eating. It was very sweet but lacked much flavour apart from a hint of cinnamon which was buried beneath mounds of sugar. The friend that introduced us to this grim experience thought we must have been being dramatic - which to be fair “this is the worst thing I’ve had in my mouth this week”, whilst true was dramatic -tried the pie and immediately agreed that it was in the top 50 worst foods he had eaten in his life. I have no idea how this became a special, perhaps the chefs were trying for something, failed and then the owner still put it on the menu as they didn’t see any sense in throwing it in the bin and writing off the cost of the experiment gone wrong, if this is the case next time I beg you to just write off the cost! It’s fitting that this dinner was in the month of Halloween as the experience was truly haunting!

Absolutely love it here! Staff are always super friendly and down to earth. Atmosphere is warm and cosy. Having a pub feed as a coeliac can be incredibly challenging but these guys make it so easy with their super inclusive menu and kitchen. Food is great and so is the drinks selection!

Best trivia in the hills! We love Luke’s trivia and come every fortnight. Stellar location with a gorgeous view and so so many gluten-free options on the menu. Staff are amazing too, with food service incredibly quick.

Pretty disappointing overall. Whilst the man who greeted us and the lady who brought us our water were both kind, our principal server was quite rude. The starters were both pleasant but the gluten free version of the ragu was very disappointing. It was very bland and not great texture wise either. They are, hands down, one of the most amazing and supportive teams I’ve ever come across. Absolutely can not say anything negative about this place. The food is amazing and the service is great. Also easily the best gluten free pasta in Melbourne. They have a covered patio in the back and the heaters were pumping it was fantastic. I can't wait to go back.

Wonderful, soothing lighting and not too many tables squashed together. Not too loud either, you can hear your conversation. Our server was so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and the drinks cold. They do take away meals too so we got our dessert to take home as we were full but the food was so good we didn’t want to miss out on something tomorrow. I love that nearly everything is gluten free. Highly recommend the gnocchi and the venue.

We arrived as first time visitors to Australia and 20mins before closing!! We asked if it was too late to order as we had just got off airplane and were starving they said no problem. We both had two drinks and I had an unbelievable pizza, my wife had gluten free pasta as she is gluten intolerant and had lots options, she said it was amazing. From the moment we walked into Suburban Rooftop, we were treated like VIPs. The customer service was hands-down some of the best I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. Every staff member we encountered—from the host to the servers—was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We arrived a little early for our reservation, but the hostess was incredibly accommodating and got us seated with a great view almost immediately. Our server came over right away, introduced herself with a smile, and took the time to walk us through the menu, offering thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences. She checked in often, but never in an intrusive way—just the perfect balance of attentiveness and giving us space to enjoy our evening. Even when the restaurant started getting busier, the quality of service never slipped. Our water glasses were always full, empty plates cleared promptly, and our food was brought out at just the right pace. The manager even stopped by our table to ask how everything was, which really showed that they care about their guests' experiences. One of the highlights was how accommodating the staff were to dietary needs—our friend has a gluten allergy, and the kitchen went above and beyond to customize a dish for her without hesitation. It’s clear that customer satisfaction is a priority at Suburban Rooftop. Not only is the food excellent and the ambiance stunning, but the people truly make it a five-star experience.
